I actually just went through a break up of a year relationship and this song perfectly describes how I felt at the end of the relationship. I ended up relapsing on alcohol and causing a lot of damage to my ex, but over our relationship I was constantly made to feel like I had to prove myself. This song just describes when two people just aren’t good for each other. The lyric “you won’t get to watch me ascend” in the screaming section is how I feel after I’ve been set free of this burden in my life. So thank you sleep token❤

i am going to wage my own opinion on this song as it hits hard for me i feel like the beginning is vessel realizing he is in a toxic relationship and the fact that he can't live up to the standards of his partner and the lies his partner has told him so he is trying to move on from what he had but it is difficult and begins to question "who made you like this" even tho they might have met in past lives and he follows along with their fantasy and how much he is suffering because of it playing along so to say and that he is willing to do anything to keep her in his life where its led him to a road of addiction and accepting his fate as someone who is imperfect yet risking his own worth into it and making him suicidal for lack of a better term until he breaks where we see the first breakdown of the song where he feels as if he can do better in his life and it hits hard but then slowly realizing that he doesn't know if he could truly do better then his now ex claiming they wanted the same thing before quickly flipping it on its head wanting his freedom where he sees his self as the victim leading to his scream and explaining how he wish he could disappear and having doubts on that thought ending the song abruptly uncertain of how he truly feels on the matter leaving it open to say that toxic relationships that drain everything from you leave you empty thinking you had it all but in reality you were being used (sorry for the bad grammar)
