Lyrics: Do you roll with the waves? Do you duck into deep blue safety? Is it always the same? Do you wish that you loved me? Do you pull at the chains? Do you push into constant aching, Each and every day? Do you wish that you loved me? Is there something you give? That you will never recieve in return? Do you know what it is? Do you wish that you loved me? Are you trying to live Like everything is a lesson to learn? Can you ever forgive yourself? Do you wish that you loved me? My reflection just won't smile back at me like I know it should. I would turn into a stranger in an instant if I could. There is something eating me alive I don't know what it is. Maybe not that you conceal your feelings they just don't exist. Do you ever belive we can turn into different people? It's getting harder to be myself. Do you wish that you loved me? Could we ever release? Is it better to just not feel? Can we hit delete? Do wish that you loved me? And it's been so long that I'm forgetting what it feels like. But I'd rather not remind myself and leave it all behind. And I try so hard to fix it all but nothing seems to help But I cannot hope to give you what I cannot give myself. Do you wished that you loved me? (Smile back) Do you wished that you loved me? (At me) Do you wished that you loved me? Do you wished that you loved me? (Delete) Do you wished that you loved me? (Smile back) Do you wished that you loved me? (At me) Do you wished that you loved me? Do you wished that you loved me? Worship

As someone that struggles with identifying and processing emotions as well as facing a stack of professional and personal challenges, this line hits home. It's like challenging yourself to know how to love someone else when you're too boxed in to even understand the implications. How do you give someone else your emotional capacity when your own needs are suppressed by your own actions and lifestyle? Almost like if someone asked you "do you wish that you loved me?" But you're unable to because you feel the weight of everything else keeping you from chasing everything you want. The only spare time you have is spent trying to recover in "deep blue safety" and the necessary challenges before you make it harder to be yourself.

I've listened to this song probably a hundred times already. This video is one that makes the most sense to me, in terms of the totem. This, in my opinion, is obviously a heart that has grown toxic or venomous with malignant tendrils, hardened with armor, and wearing a mask to conceal itself, and a knife to attack. This damaged heart is Vessel's adversary, something that he fights with. This devilish heart and the pain it causes keeps vessel further from sleep. It also has some mechanical qualities, that could be it's life support system. Not sure if the significance of that though. Around 2:20 when he sings the lyrics "Do you ever believe we could turn into different people? It's getting harder to be myself." the heart starts pouring black liquid, maybe venomous tears from it's mask. This could be Vessel's heart obsessing over and mourning for his lost love, in my opinion. Around 3:00 Vessel sings "But I'd rather not remind myself and leave it all behind And I've tried so hard to fix it oh but nothing seems to help But I cannot hope to give you what I cannot give myself" the heart stops pouring venom and the mask reverts to normal. I feel like this is Vessel overcoming his heartache and moving on. I could be completely off base, but to me, it feels like a transition from obsession and rejection to recovery and self acceptance. This heart may be one of Vessel's strongest opponents between him and Sleep, but the end of the song feels nearer to Sleep and peace than the beginning. Even if I'm completely wrong, and it's just a song with a random image, it's an amazing song, and they never cease to impress. Worship.

Yes to all, but I take it as him talking to himself. Like imposter syndrome. Or the double hearts we have from trauma… the one that we need to smile for the world and the one that is broken and hidden away. Do you wish you loved yourself? Healing the duality inside is one step closer to Sleep.

This is all really amazing. Great analysis. I have no idea if I'm anywhere near on course for what was meant, but my kneejerk feeling is that this is a song to yourself. About loving yourself, or not being able to. Or at least that's what I feel from it immediately. Like, I really do wish that I loved me. That's what I get from it.
@eTxZombie Жыл бұрын
@@ullrich I feel like that could absolutely be the case. If it isn't rejection from a lost love, it very well could be a transition from self loathing to self acceptance. Either way, there is definitely a transition from rejection, to acceptance, even if it's self hatred to self acceptance, it would still make sense.

I'm really curious who designed these characters. This one might be my favorite concept: a chaotic heart, both armed and guarded. Each character has been tailored to its own song so appropriately that is hard to imagine they were designed by anyone other than Vessel. But they're so detailed that the artist is one hell of a visual artist. If the character designs are also Vessel, that's a *LOT* of talent to be contained in one person.

This song legit broke me. Like, so many things going through my head for a long time now we're spelled out plainly with this song. And my brain is still trying to figure out how to process it over 24 hours later. I don't know any other song that has done that to me. I've been with Sleep Token since the deluxe version of Sundowning came out and have been through a wave of emotions through their entire catalog, but not even Blood Sport, my favorite ST song, broke me like this. But that still encapsulates everything I love about music, and everything v about this band. I was already grateful to them for helping me cope with the pandemic, now I'm grateful for them creating something that's truly made me begin to understand things in my life that I need to address, understand, or come to terms with. Worship.

I find this track really under rated. It’s not my type of genre on a typical basis, but the lyrics are so introspective and relatable that the simplicity of the music helps that stand out more prominently, in the same way as they do in Fall For Me. The placing of this song on the album is utter genius. It’s like he’s talking himself and beginning to come to terms with his guilt, grief and trauma. All the lyrics connect with the final three tracks really closely. It’s the first song that has any glimpse of optimism and change on the horizon, despite how difficult it will be to get over what’s eating away at him, pun intended.

I made another youtube account but this is the same woman above. Lol I'm okay now. In the time span of a month, I was a victim of a domestic dispute crime and my abuser was a cop. I tried to save his career because his alcohol addiction was finally taking an ugly turn and making him sick in so many ways he could not see. I still don't know if it was him or the alcohol. He did very cruel things and was much bigger than me. I took care of his daughter for 6 years. Since she was 4. I have my own two. They were visiting that weekend when I got knocked out by our swimming pool while the children were inside playing. Just for moving his beer and trying to get him to slow down. The next day was his last chance to plead his case to someone that could professionally help him get better. The was the first time he ever actually hit me. I called his Sargent and tried not to press charges but it was out of my control because he was employed with them. They had to press charges because of the huge lump on the back of my head. His mother told him to deny the shit if there were no proof. It blows my mind how I stayed in a vicious cycle of avoidance and meaning making when there is no point in doing so and I did it for 6 years. I did my best to love that man and he really did feel like my soul mate when he was sober. We had more in common than anyone I've met. I was just an enfp and he was an istp 😅 so, I was probably just used and discarded in reality. It just felt so real when it was good and so unreal when it got bad. I'm a newborn photographer at a hospital and doing my own side business. I'm packing all my things and am finally going to be able to let go of all of these memories that cause me great pain. I have to heal from a lot and it is going to take a while but I will get there 😊 Thank you ❤

Vessel is like a filmmaker. He creates soundscapes that fit the feel and tone of the project. He doesn’t compromise. He has an understanding that media is not dictated by fads or expectations. It’s dictated by what is appropriate at that time. That’s why the music works so well. Because it’s not aimless. It says what it needs to say. And beautifully. 🔥🙏🔥 #DYWTYLM

The slower tempo, breathing and ii’s heartbeats in this. Feels like private stream of consciousness in the digital era (“delete”) but the breathing mid-song gives the song a living, organic feel extending beyond the visual, packaged parameters that contain the music. I love these creatures for each song, they’re too cute. I knew this song was going to get to me in the middle. Forgiveness is a setting we can all switch on for our own sakes; it’s merciful we have the capacity to forgive and why the will to do so features in a lot of religious themes; but forgetting, well, not even science can *adequately* explain memory (why we retain or lose what we do; obviously on some level, when we touch fire and it burns, our self-preserving instinct does not forget this fact. Neuroscience can explain damage to certain parts of the brain can impact recall specific ways. Or a witness to a crime by luck has flawless memory of a split second impression that, to any other brain or moment, would not stand out, to bring justice. And, well, there’s plenty of random memories that serve some functional, incredible purpose.) But it’s also just a beautiful song about altruism on another level (is there something you give and never receive in return). Teasing out an innate innocent desire for altruism people have drowned out in the world, overwhelmed in experiences (including digital experiences which can be direct and authentic but a majority of which can operate as false or superficial), lost in distractions. People deep down genuinely do wish they could return to that state of innocence but the ugliness of the world restricts, represses (this desire for innocence is that “something eating me alive, idk what it is”). Feels like a calling back to innocence.
