I heard this song randomly on a meshuggah radio playlist a few years back, and wondered what the f&@k it was doing on there when it started playing. I was seconds from hitting the ff button when the first bridge kicked in……I would have missed out on a band that’s had a huge impact on my life if I had been slightly more impatient. By the end of the first listen, I knew I’d experience something special, and something that’s a hard left turn from what I normally listen to.

That's sort of similar to how I found sleep token. I was scrolling through Twitch at the time, looking for streams to watch. Then I dropped into a Sea of Thieves stream that was playing music from Spotify. I joined in when they were halfway through listening to Higher, and I thought about clicking off at first, but I liked the sound of the song, so I stayed a bit longer. Im glad I did, cuz i've been obsessed with Sleep Token from Sundowning to Take me Back to Eden.

This song is a masterclass in drumming. II is a machine. There's no wasted time or movement, everything he does is very deliberate. Tastefully busy. I'm so excited to be here for your ST journey! I hope you check out II's drumming videos in the future ✨️

The falsetto in the background, he's using his voice as another instrument. His range is ridiculously good and II (Drummer) is top tier hands down. He has influence from gospel, jazz, rock, metalcore and even EDM and techno music. They are the best band I've heard in 20 years. I know, I'm outing my age 😂. But late 90s, Tool and Disturbed were the last bands that i totally gravitated to like this. But I never got enthralled with EVERY SINGLE SONG those bands did like i have with Sleep Token. I can't remember a band that I genuinely liked every song. Yeah, ST is great! Subbed for more reactions to Sleep Token. Any song you do will be special because none of their songs are the same. The Offering, Higher, Bloodsport (from the room below), Atlantic, Hypnosis, Alkaline, Chokehold, Granite, Aqua Regia, Vore..... pretty much the entire TMBTE album 😂! They all are awesome songs. I saw someone describe Sleep Token as “ambient metal” and I think that fits perfectly

The writing/recording is just two members - Vessel (vocalist, lyricist, and multi-instrumentalist) and ii, the drummer and co-composer. They make the most transcendent, incredible music. For touring, they take two other members with them, iii (bassist) and iv (guitar and backing harsh vocals), as well as a trio of female background singers called Espera. Anyway, you correctly clocked both of these men as being absolute prodigies. Insanely talented and both of them SO dedicated to their craft. They are also both so passionate and truly LOVE music, you can see it when they perform. As perfectionist as they clearly are, they are also SO human and filled with emotion. You said something about wondering how tight they were live - the answer is TIGHT. Perfect. One of those rare bands that’s even better live. It’s unbelievable to witness. Would love to see you react to Nazareth, The Offering, Hypnosis, and/or Alkaline! (or ya know, just the entire discography 😅 you can’t go wrong!)

That's what I love about this band. Their uniqueness and Vessel's recognizeable voice. You don't find that very often. Check them out, their latest Album and earlier stuff is just amazing. The videos are great too, especially for Alkaline or the love you want. And watch their live shows they are exciting and can get very funny on stage with their special antics 🤩.

the repeating ostinato throughout this song is pulled as a leitmotif through the verses of High Water. the two songs tie in together lyrically very well too. highly recommended.

AFAIK the 'group', in the studio, is just Vessel and II (the drummer). Vessel writes everything except the drums, and then II composes his part to suit the song. III and IV (bass and guitar) have been primarily touring members, though that might change going forward. If you like this particular vibe, their 2nd EP "Two" is similar, but you really can''t go wrong with whatever you pick. Subscribed for more.

II, the drummer, has an hour long plsythrough of a lot of songs on drumeo with interviews about his way of drumming. If you're into drums that much, you are going to love it. Eventhough they seem to be a band of 4 (Vessel, II, III and IV), just II and Vessel are writing and recording the songs. II for the drums and Vessel writes lyrics and all the other instruments as well. For me, he's more a composer than a singer. III and IV are so far touring members. By the way, there is also a Drumeo video of II playing The Summoning with an additional drum solo during the synth part. Personally I love the older songs even more than the last album. My fav album is This Place Will Become Your Tomb. I'd love to see more reactions to Sleep Token. Best way, but taking a long time, is following the timeline. The albums are a trilogy and the story as well as the songs are building on each other.
