Early sleep token is so interesting to me because Vessel isn’t just sad. He’s angry, he feels wronged, he wants revenge and he’s bitter and jaded by recent emotional wounds. He’s not a sad, seemingly passive “stoic statue” early on. He’s got some bite about him while later he lost his teeth and all that remains now is sadness, with occasional but still defeated little talk-backs and cheek.

while I do agree his anger showed through way more (more recent wounds, slowly healing from them, the stages of grief...), I don't think he lost his bite. Look at songs like granite, or ascensionism. It's a different kind of anger, I guess, earlier songs have more "I want you to suffer too" energy, whereas later songs are more like "you did this to me", but he's transitioning into acceptance too.

There are many interpretations of this track and everyone of course has a right to their own :) Personally I don't take this one literally. It's also funny given the subject matter, that I always find this song so calming.
