Love how you edited this. Instead of having the music halt when you stop to react, you back the song up and play it so when you resume it is seamless. Great work and that shows an endless attention to detail. Sleep token is a progressive rock band (also known as proggy?). Looking forward to your reaction to The Summoning. You are in for a ride.

Thanks! It took me a while to get this format down. I was just looking to make them stand out in some way. I wanted more reaction with less talk... and if I have to talk... do it without breaking the flow of the music. I have a reaction to the summoning out. To my ear, Deftones must be their biggest influence. There are some songs in their catalog where you could easily imagine Chino on vocals. Lots of Abe Cunningham in the drummer, too, and then in general, there’s all that Deftones-like atmosphere they create with synth. I hear a lot of Loathe in the guitars, too, and maybe a bit of Breaking Benjamin in the vocals. They’re so diverse though that an argument could be made that nearly every song has its own unique influence. They’re a box of chocolates, for sure.

Worship! Considering your musical appreciation, you might like checking out The Offering or The Love You Want. This band is special and has quickly become my favorite over the past several years. These guys are so cathartic when you listen to them and you just get lost. I am 38, and this is the most excited I've been in a long long time to hear new music come out from a band. I will be locking myself in a room on May 19 so i can listen cover to cover when their new album comes out!

You should definetly check their live performances, I like a lot the studio versions but their live music is just perfect and I can hear all the full sets they have without any problem on repeat, III (bassist) is fun to watch and listening vessel voice without some effects and with raw emotion in many songs is really an experience

Someone posted a really interesting theory, since it’s said that this upcoming album marks the end of a trilogy. If you listen to Blood Sport at the end of Sundowning it ends on soft piano. Then Atlantic at the start of TPWBYT enters with soft piano. Once you get to the closing of that album which is Missing Limbs, it ends with a noise section that almost wants to resolve into a synth sound. In comes the intro to Chokehold which seems to fill out that section oh so nicely. I love how you pointed out that they love their synths in the intro. I really enjoyed your take on their stuff.

The best is the guitar riff at the break down is like its grabbing hold of you.. These guys are beyond amazing.. the vocal layers are just wow, and apparently II (the drummer) does his drum pattern according to the lyrical delivery I think.. Check out his thing on Drumeo, so awesome

First of all you've got a new subscriber. Your reactions are so awesome it's obvious how knowledgeable you are about music but also how much you can appreciate and enjoy the music . As far as Sleep Token goes they truly are something special. I listen to and enjoy all different kinds of music and I've heard a lot of incredible stuff but I have never heard anything like Sleep Token They have broke the mold transcended genres and are revitalizing rock. I think your prediction about them bringing back rock stars is likely spot on. Sleep Token is everything!!

I know it’s easy for everyone to say that Deftones or Tool could be influences of Sleep Token. I’ve been listening to this band for years and I hear so many elements taken from “Sigur Ros” or even more ethereal instrumental bands like “This Will Destroy you” or “Explosions In The Sky”. Either way I love this band and can’t wait to hear them push their sound even further.

I love that! Genre breakers! Like many of my favorite bands. Incubus, Korn, System of a Down, deftones, breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park. Bands with their own voice. I love it!
