I simply adore the poetic nature of this song. To perfectly capture the longing for the bliss & purity of a love that was pure & bright. Its one thing to say "i miss the joy i felt with her", its another to say "I will travel far beyond the path of reason, take me back to Eden", & "no amount of self sought fury will bring back the glory of innocence". After recently losing a relationship that was filled with nothing but joy, love, & peaceful bliss, this song hits SOOO much harder than it should

This is not a song, it's a piece of a puzzle that he helps you put together along the way ❤

The entire album is a masterpiece but this song hits hard. It also reflects Vessel's vocal abilities in a way, like his vocal range is incredible but so are the emotions you can feel listening to it. From soothing, peaceful clean vocals on a background of soft, beautoful instruments, to incredibly violent, brutal, even primal metal riffs that even deathcore bands would drool over. This band is one to follow and I would give them Album of the Year, even Decade in a heartbeat !

I happened on this song at a moment when I was going through a period of self doubt and depression. Long story short, I thought I ruined my friendship with a lifelong friend and I was a mess because of it. But this song, and one part in particular, really spoke to me. “I guess it goes to show, does it not? That we’ve no idea what we’ve got until we lose it. And no amount of love will keep it around, if we don’t choose it.” It made me think introspectively to myself, and for whatever reason I sought therapy the next day and haven’t looked back. So in a way, Sleep Token helped me get over the hurdle that is the mind. And no one asked but, after a couple of months the friend and I talked it out and we’re back to how we were.

Great reaction as always Rachel! This track I always say is the best way to introduce someone to Sleep Token. It perfectly shows how this band bends genres. The whole album has little callbacks to a lot of their older material. It's incredible. I don't know if it's intentional or not (knowing Vessel, it probably is), but a track like Alkaline is in the exact middle of their second album, and is actually the exact middle track of all 3 albums. The entire theme of the song was that perfect middle ground.

In all the reaction videos I have watched forbthis song, a lot of the reviewers cant quite put a word to what his voice sounds like. Their words escape them when trying to describe it. Beautiful, amazing, haunting...yes his voice is all of those things. But when I heard this song for the first time and was asked by the person who recommended it to me what words I would use to describe his voice, without hesitation I said he has an otherworldly, ethereal, sound. His voice is the audio equivalent of a Salvador Dali painting...there is a surreal almost alien quality he captures. Its like getting a massage by the hands of God but then Satan himself drops in and punches you in tbe fucking face! A beautiful mind fuck, sensory fucking utopia. I adore this band and what they are putting out. They are like Freddie Mercury...too fucking evolved for their time. Genius is an understatement for Sleep Token!! A fucking 1!!!

So this is an arc, and this is second to last song on that arc, this is encompassing the regret and rage from his toxic relationship, as well as his growth and understanding that has come from the pain. The arc ends with Eucalid, which i highly recommend, which is him saying goodbye, to his relationship, to himself, and to us in thos journey.

The lyric's are even better if your more familiar with Sleep Token. One example, before he starts screaming "take me back to Eden" the background lyrics/melody is the opening of Chokehold, which is the first track on the album (ie the beginning, Eden), and those are Eden themed (when we were made/it was no accident). The final song on the album does the same trick, Euclid finishes the album "take me back to Eden" by morphing into the first track of the first album (the night does not belong to God).

The song sounds like the circle of life with our innocence at birth, then growing up experiencing the highs and lows of human life, growing older and wiser to see, we can't get back to innocence and have to fight and stay strong and at the end we don't know, where we are really going but we are still wishing desperately to get back to eden, to where we came from.

If songs were simple greeting cards...Sleep Tokens songs are those cards that when you open them...a building or 3 dimensional structure pops out. Those always fascinated me so much more than basic greeting cards(songs). Every song is pleasing on all 3 levels. Mind...body and spirit. These are prayers. Praises. Not just songs. He hurts and feels in all 3 dimensions. Pleasure-displeasure, degree of arousal, and dominance-submissiveness. Only other band that ever moved me like they do is Fleetwood Mac. So its been a while. Beautiful suffering. Grace.

re-read the lyrics and you will understand that its his spirit talking. When he talks about "no one told him not to breath and the weightlessness recedes" he's talking about his physical death through drowning. He is beautifully alluding to consciousness after his physical death. He wants to go back to a place of no pain and suffering or death and his about to fight death back in anger as he realizes this is not what he wants. A beautiful story of the journey of a soul that has come to understand the reality of eventually dying and possibly the rage at the end is because this soul realizes there is a point of no return and fades out in rage because he wants his" paradise lost" (Eden)

I've listened to this song like 100 times and I'm pretty sure I know what it's about... it's about abandoning the beauty and magic of childhood for the cold reality of adulthood... but also, how we cling to parts of our inner child through love and how we can live in the light of that love... but it will never be the quite the same as true innocence, since we as adults are tainted by Sin and vice.

I think the thing with the new sleep token videos is, that they just want the music to speak and tell the story, without the need of a visual representation through a music video. And so Vessel also said, as a reason why they don't show themselves, is because they want the music to speak for itself. And also TMBTE is a *perfect* Titletrack and also a beautiful record. Btw your videos are like almost my favorite out of all reaction videos. So keep doing it!! (And your "Scheiße" sounded perfect. As a german I approve your pronunciation)

I hope to god, now that their album cycle has come to a conclusion, that they will.. either… break up and disappear. (That would be the grand finale of all masterpieces). Epic. And they will be forever burned into musical history. OR - they will drop all their disguises, step forward, and receive the highest form of musical recognition that any band has ever been given. (Because they deserve it!!) It is, by far, the best music I have ever listened to, in my entire life. It’s eternal. Thank you Rachel. As always. Bless you. 🙏

I think the song is a double on the story of the Fall of Man in Eden and losing that relationship, as well as beinf in love and having it go wrong and change. The beginning he talks about diving into crystal waters and perfect oceans, painting a beautiful picture, but that no one told him not to breathe in the water, so that free feeling (typical of a new/blissful relationship) fades away and now he no longer feels weightless like you normally do in water. The line about no amount of love will keep it around if you don’t choose it talks about loving someone but struggling and no matter how much you love them, you have to choose to move on together, but "no amount of self-sought fury will bring back the glory of innocence" meaning no amount of beating yourself up and being "sorry" will be able to match the blissful beginning of the relationship and you have to be okay with that. My guess is that he is singing about a relationship that burned him and it leads to death (hence the funeral pyre). He wants to go back to Eden, where everything was innocent before he was burned by this relationship, before they bit the apple. The lyrics are brilliant
