I love and hate that the song in Spike's head is "Early One Morning". It's a traditional folk song which I remember as a kid, and is really beautiful. And to hear it being used in this manner really throws me off.

@pcoleman19712 ай бұрын
@Nicolas.Vincent Oh man, I forgot about that. The Friendly Giant, that's a throwback. Thanks.
I love season 7 because of how Buffy and Spike's relationship has changed. The fact that Spike fought to get his soul back, specifically because he was just as shaken to the core as she was by the events of Seeing Red, hasn't gone unnoticed by Buffy - I mean the visual of Spike embracing the cross as his body smoked and burned is imprinted on my brain, so I can only imagine how it was for Buffy, experiencing it in person. You can see that there is definitely a bond of some kind between the two of them because the current Big Bad is playing with them so much, and it wouldn't be able to play with them if they both didn't care about each other. We know that Spike loves Buffy - obviously so much that he was able to break free from the insanity that the Big Bad had been fostering in his mind for months now and NOT kill Buffy. We know that Buffy cares about Spike enough that she refused to kill him after he had murdered and turned a bunch of people - she literally turned her back on her Slayer duties - and saved him. She says it's because the Big Bad wanted her to kill him, so he must be useful to understand what this evil wants... but that doesn't require her to show such compassion to him. So what exactly is this bond they share right now? We all have to define it for ourselves, because the showrunners aren't giving us the answers.

Does anyone know the details of how Aimee Mann came to do her bit on Buffy? It's not like she was a startup artist at this point. While she never really was a superstar, she was a very well-established singer-songwriter by the time this aired. So I wonder if she was a Buffy fan who wanted to perform at The Bronze?
@joshbarbee552 ай бұрын
I think she explained in an interview that one of her songs was used in a previous season, and as a fan, she was bummed they didn’t just ask her to perform it in the scene. They made it up to her by putting her in this season and gave her a line as an apology.

The incredible build up to the Series Finale continues here with another great episode. We have Willow and Dawn being deceived into thinking that Tara and Joyce were talking to them, and now everyone suspecting Spike has reverted to his old ways, but has he? We are given some light relief when Anya breaks into Spike's room and pretends she is there to have sex with him, he of course rejects this, then she becomes annoyed saying 'a soulless Spike would have had me upside down and half way to happy land by now' brilliantly awkward and hilarious at the same time. The tune being hummed, what could this mean. When Spike is with the girl and apparently Buffy turns up she seems to be encouraging Spike to attack the girl, again playing with Spike's head. Great acting from James Marsters again when Buffy confronts Spike and he has to let his emotions out. The tune is of course so important, as soon as it is heard it seems to change Spike. Great scene and acting again when Spike finally remembers, we can see the torment he is going through. Terrific ending scene with Giles back in London about to be attacked leaving us hooked. Regarding S7 I thought it was great, and had to rely on callbacks because it was wrapping up the whole story. The writers were doing a great job building the arc and still leaving the viewers guessing. I can understand many were confused, but this is what the writing is trying to do, all the intrigue it will make sense soon. Another superb episode.

In the Buffy lore, I am not sure that burial is required for resurrection. E.g. - "The Body" - the corpse on the autopsy table resurrected just fine. There seems to occasionally even be a time differential involved. But those are seasons past, and it is all okay now. S7 is not my favorite, by far (that would be S5, with a very honorable mention to S3.) But it may end up tying up a loose end or two, but no spoilers on what might end up.
@Henrik_Holst2 ай бұрын
Burials are not required, the reason Spike buried these ones was to hide them so they could surprise attack Buffy.
@user-dx2dm8oq8g2 ай бұрын
Yeah in this show it's not. I remember when Angelus killed one of Buffy's classmates she woke up in her coffin at the service. Some people just get buried before they turn and if the body is out then they'll resurrect wherever they are.

The enemy is trying to divide to conquer. Wanting probably one of, if not the strongest witch on earth to kill herself, alienating Buffy from her sister, using Spike to create more vampires... The first could have played the humans by using more tact instead of being so direct.

Burying then is an important part of a vampire siring it's victim; at least according to the lore. Spike was being used by a greater evil, that's why he couldn't remember. The BBE(Big Bad Evil)was even able to "switch off" the chip while it was happening. Anyas response to being rebuffed was great! She didn't want sex with spike, but got offended when Spike didn't want sex with her either. Also there seems to be something amiss in England. Everything is being tied together for the final showdown. Glad you're feeling better.
@ernesthakey33962 ай бұрын
It's a tradition, the burying part, but not necessary. The false Annointed One rose from the table in the morgue, as did the vampire in the hospital morgue while Dawn was there in The Body.
@user-knightoftherealms2 ай бұрын
@@ernesthakey3396 That's true in the show, unfortunately the show is not always lore accurate. Case in point: according to lore vampires do not explode into dust when they are staked, they aren't even killed. Staking simply "paralyses" them so that they can be killed. "Dusting" is just visually cooler, and less graphic than the real method, so....Tradition does work within the show. Good catch.
@Logan_Baron2 ай бұрын
"Lore accurate" isn't even lore accurate. Vampire myths/stories vary greatly. "Lore accurate" matters only to the lore of the show. Other shows have their own lore different from Buffy. In some myths silver is also bad for vampires, not just werewolves. Powers and weaknesses of vampires varies in tales before movies or shows. So the only 'lore accurate" that matters here is Buffy Lore.
