It's 1952, 53 West 57th Street, NYC, at Marlon's apartment.
Two hours ago, you met Brando at a party of Tennessee Williams' in a ballroom on Irving Place in New York, just after Marlon got the role of Stanley Kowalski in 'A Streetcar Named Desire.' Hundreds of people milled about or danced to the all-black jazz band. You were standing alone when Marlon approached.
'Don't I know you from somewhere?' he drawled, sizing you up with intense interest.
There came hours of dancing and talking to each other. He then invited you to his apartment after you insisted to drive yourself back home. You were too inebriated to make a rational decision, he decided to bring you to his apartment to keep you safe and sound. You crashed on his bed, your body as heavy as your eyelids. He watched you as he opened the window of his spacious bedroom and lit up a cigarette. Hearing the radio on made you feel relaxed even more, as the bustle and street noises were becoming less and less prominent. Like a white noise in the background. Far beneath you, you could imagine people strolling in the streets; friends, lovers, strangers, all crammed together in Manhattan. But here you were, safe under your covers, as Sinatra's sweet voice played on the radio. At some point, Marlon picked up a phone call, you could now hear him talking in another room, only for him to join you later on. At last, you fall asleep peacefully.
