I camp free up along the entire Texas Gulf coast all winter long. If you’re ever in Texas again you don’t have to go all the way down to Padre. Check out Brazoria County Beach, Follets Island Beach, Crystal Beach, and Quintana Beach. Miles and Miles and MILES of free beach camping. I just move every 14 days and rotate thru all the public beach from Matagorda to Bolivar Penisula (Crystal Beach area).

I couldn't go see him in the ICU cuz Michigan had a blizzard 17inches of snow ..No lights to Padre Island only to Houston $900 one way ..I did get to talk with on the phone and pray for him the day before he died. But so far seeing the drive it looks beautiful . I would have loved the drive . I love oceans...

Carolyn, I love your Channel. I've been watching since 2018. I grew up in TX. Went to Padre many times. Yes, James and Michelle Butler were killed in 2019. Also, I had two high school friends who were musicians, he played guitar and she sang. A few weeks after they sang at my wedding in July of 1974 they were camping on the north shore of Padre. He was murdered, and she was kidnapped, put in the trunk of her car for several days while the killer drove her north. I think she started sending SOS signal by shorting out the tail lights of the car. She was saved and the perpetrator arrested in Denton TX. There is no way I would camp there, ever... I took my Girl Scout troop there in the 80s. Of course some were stung by jelly fish. It that happens, make a paste of meat tenderizer with water, and put it on the wound. It neutralizes the venom. It worked for my girls. Also, the reason why there are so many police officers is to keep watch out for illegals, and drug transportation from Mexico. If you get a chance stop in at Lockhart TX and have some TX BBQ (cooked in smokers over 100 years old), Blacks BBQ and Kreuz (Pronounced "Kritz). German settlers form the late 1800s settled there and brought their sausage recipe with them. I have not found any "Texas sausage" like it anywhere out of the state of TX. Its something to try at least once. Lockhart's town square has been in many movies. My grandfather was a barber there on the town square from the early 1930s to 1970. Thanks for posting all your great travels! I really have enjoyed them.

How phenomenal that your friend thought of shorting out the brake lights to signal SOS. The sausage sounds good. If I ever go to that area of Texas, I'll check it out. Although, Texas is not top of my list since I live at the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. 😏

You can touch and even grab the topside of that jellyfish. The stinging tentacles dangle from the underside when in the water. Totally LOVED your drive over the Harbor Bridge and then heading to the island over the Kennedy Causeway. Been over that at least a thousand times. Glad you enjoyed it and as in just about any place you go, be aware and vigilant. While in Texas, you absolutely MUST check out Big Bend NP and see the Marfa lights in Marfa, TX. I’m from CC. Wish I could have met you. Just a warning for any viewers considering going to south padre, always check tide charts. Sometimes the tide can go up to the sand dunes and you can get trapped for a bit. Park your rig as close to the dunes without getting into the soft sand. Getting stuck out here is no fun and the tow services suck and charge hefty sometimes. The first jellyfish I believe was a cabbage head and the last was a moon jelly. If you are lucky at night you may see the moon jellies glow . It is true it is sticky and sandy and does get annoying but I’ve lived here my whole life and just used to it. Make sure you wash the salty water off of everything because rusting is a real problem. Anyhow, I know you are nowhere near here now and wish I could have chatted with you just a bit. I’m a loner also, but have a family with teenagers still. This lifestyle is my dream. Maybe one day.

My youngest son was born in Padre Island. I lived there and loved it, but God gave us obstacles, and I returned to West Texas. That was forty-three years ago, and I'm sure it has changed a lot; my husband worked the rigs, so all the wives became good friends; we went to South Padre almost daily. Wash up your RV well when you leave the area; it will turn your RV into a rust bucket. They had drive-through sprayers that sprayed off the undercarriage of our cars on the way back to Town.

@melvapryor9868 I totally understand what and where you are coming from. However, there is no true Spainish or English spoken in Texas or even the USA. We typically use a perverted vernacular of them that is socially accepted as correct. By doing this other's will understand the speakers attempt to communicate. Most words here are an amalgamation of many languages. One example is the common word Yea used in place of yes.

Don’t touch the jellyfish! I’ve been stung twice by smaller ones than you saw, and it’s like having a hot poker dragged over your skin. Worse than a wasp sting, and it hurts for hours (or at least that’s how I remember it…was a couple decades ago). I was cranky and miserable the rest of the day. When I got stung on my neck, it welted up and turned red where the tentacle dragged across about six inches. Looked like someone had tried to slit my throat. And yes, the dead ones sting too.

Nice video, I like the longer format. I do love the ocean but would have been too nervous to stay on the beach. If there were a parking area up where the coyotes! were, I would have stayed there. 2-3 days is enough though, mostly because of the constant wind. I don't like the humidity in the areas by the gulf either. Beautiful photography you did and I really loved watching the Great Blue Heron walking through the water. Of course, Sadie is amazing and your hair is gorgeous. Also, the place with all of the buildings by the pier looked like a church retreat camp to me. Stay safe and well

I grew up spending my summers on the Jersey Shore. Same issue with everything being wet and sandy all the time. You could hang up your damp beach towel at the end of the day and by the next morning, it was wetter than when you hung it up! And sandy floors, sandy shoes, sand in your teeth...that's the nature of living on an island near the beach. Lovely gulf footage, looks like a nice winter destination.

I have only recently found your channel and I love it ! You inspire me to become a nomad. I find myself daydreaming more and more about it. I just put my home up for sale and am seriously considering a new lifestyle change.

I love the shore and the sound of the ocean, walking through the water and how healthy the grounding is. I miss it so much.

I spent months on the beach near Galveston. I loved it! Probably because I love to swim in the Gulf. Swimming several times a day makes you feel fresh even in the humidity. I did take have the beach with me when I left though. I just gave up on keeping sand out of the RV. My dog Buddy has a fluffy coat and carried it in 😂. Swept it out later. ❤

😂😂😂 Yeah, the beach is hard to do in the winter. But the summer when it's really hot. ..You just get an outdoor shower after you get on the sand it feels much better.

New subscriber here from Wisconsin 😀I absolutely love your channel. I appreciate the history behind the places you visit. During Christmas 2022 I was in the hospital with heart issues. For the next month I was on a lot of restrictions and that is when I found people like you who gave me a chance to see parts of the country that I only have dreamed of. Seeing the country through your lense is incredible very calming and peaceful. I love water! There is something about water and how it soothes the soul. Thank you for sharing your adventures!
