I'm impressed to see when you have a problem you head for the nearest harbour to sort out what's causing them and also to acknowledge when your sleep deprived you need to get to a harbour and get sleep. That in it's self shows how safety conscious you are.! God bless. 🙂

Like your siphon pump to fill the diesel. I normally pour half via a funnel, and half over the deck!

Fantastic voyage! Your footage is well shot and production values are mostly excellent, so kudos to you young man! The first rule of sailing is keep the water out of the boat. Rule#2, keep the crew in the boat. Much success! Your boat is a beauty, despite the mechanical issues. It's always electric or engine eh? But you handled it with aplomb.
@jakoblangsailing9 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! Yeah, I‘ve refited all of the electrics myself, except the engine wiring for charging the batteries. The pre owner of the boat did a bit of a chaotic work there which I fixed on Guernsey and there were no problems while sailing back :) The engine problem was my fault since the new fuel meter seems line it wasn‘t 100% compatible with the sensor inside the fuel tank although the manual said so

I have sailed from Guernsey many times, yup the tides are fast ( more fun in Scotland where I now am). So did you leave at the wrong time to catch the tide? Or perhaps you failed to say this was intended as the tide past Cherbourg was more important
@jakoblangsailing5 ай бұрын
When you're sailing nonstop on the English Channel it's pretty much impossible to always go with the tide. It can be tough but sailing against it for hours on end is a part of it....

Very well made video…you did not mention where “home” is for you and your boat. Solo-sailing should be something for old folks…get some friends to join you. That way you will get more sleep…especially if you are in a busy shipping area like that. And you heard that before: wear your safety equipment and tether line all the time. I know from a very experienced sailor who slipped on his boat while anchoring in his marina, hit his head and lost consciousness on the way into the water…and drowned - although people from neighboring boats jumped after him right away. Some part of your boat will try to kill you, eventually. Make sure it will not be successful! Good luck for your journey!
@jakoblangsailing5 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot mate! I actually prefer being underway solo, it's a challenge for its own and I love it. Will definitely wear my safety equipment regularly from now on, once you go in the water offshore there is no going back I guess...

Uk red ensign flag, which is different to the UK flag. Since Guernsey is under British management you can hoist the Guernsey flag, or the red ensign

Don’t rely on AIS. A few fishing boats turn theirs off, illegally, so others can’t see where they are catching fish. ps, get your sleep in during the day, as soon as safe, rather than wait until night.
@jakoblangsailing5 ай бұрын
Notices that. I usually nap a lot during the day, so that adds up at night
