A slide show made in 1974 about Hitchin by Rev R. Tebbutt. By kind permission of his daughter, Mrs G. Clough who rediscovered it in 2015.

An interesting video, its amazing to see how the shops have changed, I used to visit Hitchin between 1980- 2015 when I lived in that area, I can remember the toy shop on the first floor that is where Hendersons is.

Its was called Toy & Card. And at the other end of the arcade was Zodiac Toys
@klisher3 жыл бұрын
@@mjstefansson7466 Zodiac was slightly cheaper. There was also Gaytime toy shop up Hermitage Road, Toy and Card used to have a good selection of craft toys (Remus ,painting and craft kits) and magic related toys.

Some relatives of bob hope lived in hitchin. He used to visit them once a year

That's right. Richard Whitmore wrote the script for a Hitchin Historical Society film about Bob Hope's Hitchin connections. I think it's on one of the DVDs the HHS published.

Thank you for posting. I’m interested if other villages and towns have their histories documented in such a way.
