Getting some thinly veiled Rust commentary here. Safety first, and good for you for putting that right up front. Kudos.

I use Ben Affleck's line from Batman v Superman as my montra for Set Safety, ~"If there's even a One Percent chance, we have to take it as an ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY!"~ You would think that the 43 tragic deaths on movie sets since 1990 would motivate production companies to utilize the realistic looking pellet guns for sale from Umarex, Airsoft USA, and Shorty USA, not to mention that rubber training weapons can also be used; all the weapons of the Netflix film Extraction were non firing, hard rubber training guns and all the muzzle flashes, bullet strikes, and bloodspatter were added in post.
@ge27193 жыл бұрын
@@moviedorkproductions9465 whats not shocking is when you look at companies who are prnguns, who understand how dangerous guns are and so they make sure not to use real guns. Just look at john wick and terran tactical. John wick they use fake guns and add digital effects. It might not look as realistic having to add fake muzzle flash, but making sure theres no chance of anyone dying over a movie is a very good thing.
@moviedorkproductions94653 жыл бұрын
@@ge2719 absolutely! No one's life is worth the "Perfect Shot" in a bit of make believe and illusion that we lovingly call cinema.
@alex05893 жыл бұрын
It's not commentary, it's a solemn reminder, especially for smaller, non union sets, I think he would have mentioned it anyway but he took a minute to be clear about the why. "Safety first" is hard because it usually takes the courage to call out your superior on their B.S. in an industry where you get called back only if you're easy going and dont break people's balls too much.
@CoppersmithProductions3 жыл бұрын
@@alex0589 Maybe "Commentary" was the wrong word. "Reference" might have been more appropriate, since they never directly mentioned the tragedy on Rust. But I think we're both on the same page here. Safety is paramount.

This is beautiful, thank you so much. The best combo of digital and practical, based on how much budget you have. If it's a supernatural villain, I'd make them stand there for a bit, stagger, do something funny but freaky, before falling, like in a lot of 80s and early 90s movies (Idle Hands, Friday the 13th), allowing enough time for the Blood Fountain to do it's magic, while the person in shock watches it with a frozen gaze and open mouth and then the other person, who screams and just pulls them away, after getting sprayed and comment about fucking up the Tshirt they gave them as a gift.

Why not use metahuman or other modeling programs like Iclone or DAZ to make Josh's head? I think you could have gotten really close with Metahuman.

Probably time constraint. I mean they used a website that completely automated it for them. They likely were running behind schedule. That said, I think this still achieves the goal of the tutorial given you could easily swap out the head model with something more realistic from Metahuman
