Disney has an iconic animated short of this tale, and the evil tree in this one looks exactly like the drawing of a tree that terrified Ichabod in the Disney version, also the frogs sounding like they say Ichabod is in the Disney version as well.

New York was originally occupied by the Netherlands and was called New Amsterdam before the British overtook the area and renamed it after the then Duke of York. Many of the street names and buildings in New York have Dutch names. The Hessens were recruited by the British crown to fight against the colonists during the Revolutionary War. Sleepy Hollow is located just north of Manhattan via Metro North train station. There are tours in Sleepy Hollow with limited access to the famed cemetery and church. There is a bridge but it no longer has a cover. The actor playing Brom Van Brunt is Casper Van Dien, who is also of Dutch ancestry.

Well, this was a surprise usually reactors do this movie around October. To answer your question that device that his mother was in is called an Iron Maiden named of course after the greatest heavy metal band of all time, the creator in the middle ages must have been a fan or something :). To that effect you need to react to Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. For horror suggestions I recommend: - Signs (one of the staples for horrors set in cornfields) - The Prophecy (1995) - for more Christopher Walken.

Since we are watching Sleepy Hollow with the headless horseman "Saruman" - Christopher Lee witnessed the last public execution by guillotine. On 17 June 1939, convicted serial killer Eugen Weidmann was publicly executed by guillotine in Versailles, France after murdering and robbing six people. One of the people in the crowd who witnessed the last public execution by guillotine was a then 17-year-old Christopher Lee, who was stopping briefly in Paris on his way to the French Riviera.

I saw this when it originally came out in theaters and I still never tire of watching it. This has to be my favorite Tim Burton-Johnny Depp collaboration. It was so dark, atmospheric and mysterious. I especially found myself getting pulled into the mystery of who was controlling the horseman and why. This also has to be my favorite Danny Elfman score. I loved the music; it was amazing. Christopher Walken was fantastic as the horseman. The chase at the end was awesome. There were two stunt doubles for the horseman; one for the horse-riding scenes and one for the fight scenes. The double for the fight scenes was Ray Park, who played Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode 1 and Toad in the first X-Men movie.

The one piece of merch from this movie that I still have is the Headless Horseman model kit released by Polar Lights. A cool rendition of the Horseman and his horse, the base has the tree on it, the Sleepy Hollow sign and some jack'o lanterns. It also has three or for severed heads that can be placed in the horseman's hand, I used Tim Burton's head on my build-up of the model. The model was re-issued a couple of years and can still be found in hobby shops and online.

Ichabod Crane was a real person. He lived in Staten Island, New York in the late 1700’s. Sleepy Hollow is also an actual place in New York. It’s believed the “headless horseman” legend was based on a Hessian soldier who was decapitated by a canonball on Halloween 1776 in New York as well.

Absolutely loved this movie for all the reasons you mentioned AND because of the tone, atmosphere, the setting, the locations, wow. It really fulfills that fantasy of being in a mysterious, spooky, supernatural setting; the woods, fall, a sleepy town, that time period, before technology took the magic away. I have a few suggestions for horror movies especially since Halloween season is almost here. Of course I don't know what you guys've seen other than these reactions so hopefully you haven't seen any of these! These are all excellent movies, and they always do well in reactions: - It Follows (somewhat scary) - Tucker & Dale vs Evil (comedy horror) - The Conjuring, & Sequel (pretty scary) - IT: Chapter 1 and 2 - A Quiet Place - Infested (spider horror movie), I suggest you watch it in the original French with english subtitles, the original name is "Vermines" - The Annabelle movies - The Witch (2016 with Anya Taylor Joy) I imagine that what you choose will almost certainly be based on what your patrons say, so hopefully you can present these options and see which ones win out. Honestly of that list my top three would have to be It Follows, The Conjuring movies and Tucker & Dale vs Evil. Any of them you would enjoy. Looking forward to the next reaction!

If you do more horror films, especially for October, I suggest getting a night vision camera and watching in the dark. There’s another popular reaction channel that does this for her spooky season, and horror films really should be experienced in a dark room for maximum impact. As for films, everyone has to see The Shining; it’s culturally referenced all of the time and truly a master filmmaker working at the top of his craft. I also think The Dead Zone is another Stephen King adaptation worthy of more views. Finally, if you want a really messed up movie that will cause a lot of psychological problems both during and after viewing, Jacob’s Ladder is a personal favorite and not something I see on other reaction channels often.
