Another great episode as always! Finally started listening to Sleepycast over these last few months and I have no hesitation in calling it my favorite podcast! The only thing about this episode I’m uneasy about is their later arguments about feminism and people’s need to criticize where they live. They constantly say stuff like “Why are people complaining now when shit is so much worse in Iran?” which is true, Iran is worse in terms of human rights but saying something is worse than something else doesn’t make the original thing not bad. Like if you chucked a football and broke a window and then thought “Oh well compared to Killdozer the damage isn’t really that bad is it?” It doesn’t override the fact you broke a window. The second thing is that they don’t seem to grasp that people tend to prioritize immediate problems over ones encountered by other people. Sure women’s rights are worse in Iran but if you’re an American and you genuinely feel like women’s rights could be better or aren’t entirely upheld then you’re going to focus on fixing the place you live and where your future generations will live over a place thousands of miles away. Not saying Iranians are subhuman or anything just saying you tend to fix problems that you’ll be able to see the results of (which is sadly true of global warming but at least that’ll help preserve the whole Earth).

The medication took away my hunger while it was in effect so I was always really skinny, almost malnourished. I was vegetarian for 15 fucking years of my life. Then I decided to stop because it wasn’t my decision to be like that. Deciding to eat meat is something I have never regretted. Also my dad was completely against my decision to eat meat to the point of refusing to pay for my ticket to go to a fair because they had meat there.

47:10 I'm working as a delivery driver right now, and the way I see it is. 2-3 dollars is perfectly acceptable, like he was saying they're not a waiter coming back to your table repeatedly. And if everyone tipped 2-3 dollars for every delivery I would be making decent money. But, if you end up seeing the same driver most times you order, and he consistently doesn't forget certain items like drinks, salads, dipping sauces etc. And your order is consistently correct every time, consider tipping a bit more. Because part of a drivers job is to make sure the order they are delivering is correct. But bottom line, the absolute minimum is 2 dollars. A no tip delivery can actually be a bit of a set back for a driver. That means for the most part they were only compensated for gas, and were being paid around 5 dollars an hour for that drive.

Since when it's fucking normal to get your internet cut off because you downloaded things on torrent? Is that a thing there in United States? If so, WTF?!
@Edward-Not-Elric8 жыл бұрын
I think its just because its a business internet account.

Yeah, the US even got the owner of Kickass Torrents arrested a week or so ago. It's ridiculous, he was living in Poland. They should be more worried about terrorism and important shit like that, not torrenting.

It's way more dependent on your ISP. Some ISPs couldn't give less of a shit if you torrented every file in the pentagon. Some care if you torrent an already free program just to download it faster.

For a minute there I thought Niall was actually saying something insightful. He knew the meanings of the prefixes cis and trans but then completely lost the plot. Cis means exactly what he said it should mean - opposite of trans. So it doesn't mean "straight" at all. It has nothing to do with sexual orientation. It's about gender identity. I thought I would just explain that in case people were confused (cause language is fuckin weird) but mostly I was just amazed that Niall knew chemistry. He's still a dark horse in my book.
