Yeah, I know exactly how you feel, because I have had the pleasure to deal with a few scammers as well (luckily, only a few, in all my years collecting K-pop) and they operate very similarly. They go through stages in conversation. First, they hope you won't notice the damage/ fakeness until the money goes through if the sale happens on a selling/buying platform. So when you contact the seller about it, they will act all offended and stuff. If that did not work, then, they will start going through excuses - say that there was no damage when they had the item, that they did not look closely/ did not see the damage. Then, that the damage was done in shipping, or that you yourself damaged it. If the seller starts going through all the options being offended like this, and denying the obvious, you know this is a scam. What they want is to keep arguing. When you ask for the solution, and that happened EVERY single time to me - the scammer would disappear, or claim that they are really busy irl and will get back to you very soon. That's when you need to file for the return/refund, because if you miss your window, they get away with it. Do not ever miss the retur/refund window because you are not finished talking it out with the seller bc they are "busy" or disappeared. That is the most important part. Because the scammer is doing everything to make you miss it. If the seller genuinely did not know the item is fake/ did not notice the damage, or is new and does not know damage lowers the price - they are genuinely sorry and are willing to work it out with you.

That is crazy. You have me questioning whether or not to use Mercari for selling and buying. I know you didn’t mention this but I don’t understand why they make one listing with multiple photo cards that are for sell separately. I find that annoying (just my personal opinion though). Make one listing for one photo card.

Honestly, you were so polite and understanding about the whole thing for so dang long..even then I think you were almost too nice. Not me, couldn't be me. I'd blow up so fast. I'd of blown up at her first message and even moreso at Mercari's BS policy. Like absolutely freaking not, try me. I love how you got back at her, that was honestly hilarious and well deserved to call her out because no one should waste their time on people like this.

I had a similar experience on Mercari with a seller who I bought NCT Kihnos from and the cards arrived to me naked, no sleeve and no toploader. Just tossed in the envelope. I messaged them saying that I recieved the cards and that they first arrived with no sleeve or toploader and that they were damaged. She wanted proof to which I showed her proof and she literally told me that’s not damaged enough for her to give me a refund. I was like what?? Are you crazy. One of the cards he had a full on scratch on his face, kind of like something went through it, the other one was like peeling off. To make things worse I didn’t realize it until now, but the cards were fake. I sent them back thankfully but I blocked her everywhere. Didn’t want to take responsibility for her lack of packaging and never once apologized.😅

I commented on her post on IG and she was rude and defensive for no reason. She said 'of course you'll be quick to take their side without seeing my side of the story typical'. Girl I read both posts and it was clear who's at fault ALTHOUGH she did try and pin the blame on your for not asking for a video. How are you going to pack up a pc and not look at it throughout the process?!?! She said you are both at fault but won't actually admit to her own wrongdoings
