The patter is new to me, but the trick if more effective with a better slight. Use a new (coated) deck and the duplicate card, but force the card with fast misdirection.(quickly pulling the top card onto the portion of cards on which the spectator stopped and allowing him or her to memorize it.)

Maybe someone could educate me but it always seems to me no matter how good the sleights are and as smooth as they look the minute someone does a double lift, the trick is dead. It's the most obvious thing in the world because no one on earth flips a card over like that. Is there a way to do it so it actually looks natural?
@MatchuFtw
@MatchuFtw 9 жыл бұрын
redflamelcd Surprisingly enough, the only reason you believe this is because you know what a double lift is and just how it works. A majority of people in the world don't spend any time with a deck of cards, nor do they interest themselves in what they're doing or how they flip/hold the cards. When you perform double lifts in different manners, the audience or spectator simply thinks that you have a flourishy way of touching the deck rather than you're doing something mischievous. Now this doesn't apply to everyone, but I've rarely encountered someone who's wondered why I do double lifts the way I do.
@redflamelcd
@redflamelcd 9 жыл бұрын
I guess so but I believe the impact is greater the more natural sleights look.

What if the person you give the card to looks at the face of it? might be better to just leave it on the table so they aren't tempted to turn it over once in the back end of the trick and the 5 of clubs is placed

Hey, Jay, I haven't quite mastered the fan flourish yet, but whenever I flourish, I can't seem to get the bottom card to not show. How can I improve the way this looks?
@MatchuFtw

Daniel Foster My advice is to use less cards from the bottom when you spread the cards in your hand. Almost start the fan from the middle of the deck
@memegicianOfficial
@memegicianOfficial 10 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I've gotten pretty good at this now, and added the trick to my repetoire, but there's one thing I was hoping you could help me with. I've come across one or two spectators who, when I'm doing the first card-strip, intentionally wait until the bottom card to say stop. What do I do if I realize this is what they're doing so that I don't have to start over and make the trick look awkward?

so when i peform i get so nervous i shake and it makes some stuff hard to do.... im nervous about something being revelaed and looking like a jackass and the my hand shake and well stuff is revelaed way easier has happend to me yet but what can i do to over come this just keep going at it till it goes away i guess?
@MatchuFtw
@MatchuFtw 9 жыл бұрын
Kristian Carroll The biggest thing you need to understand is that YOU WILL FAIL! Nobody in life has succeeded in anything they've done without failing multiple times. Once you come to terms with that, the nervousness will fade. Whenever I make a mistake, I just laugh it off and tell my audience that they got that trick for free, and then I move on to the next sleight. Your spectators are on your side during your performance. They want you to do well. Nobody likes those awkward situations, but if you use them to your advantage like laughing and moving forward, your audience will become more relaxed with you and thereby making you more relaxed during performances!
