The thing about the deck used is that it reflects green light when palming. This is not a problem with every palm but that just means you'd have to test and check your tricks in the mirror to see if this is a problem.
@zgau08174 жыл бұрын
That would be a problem, but I think you should always check tricks palms whatever in the mirror Hope you still do magic and sorry if I was nagging

Okay - I have been able to overcome my small hands in so many ways - I can do multiple one handed cuts which I thought I could never do but I can't figure out how to plam a card. This video is by far is the easiest move but I can't get full coverage on the card - I mean not even close! There is one, single position - very carefully placed where it doesn't show but in any kind of "trick" getting the card placed exactly in that specific position is almost impossible. This one is especially hard because the deck would have to be in a very specific position for me to palm one off - it would be so unnatural for me to sit there and try to line it up. I tried in front of video to see if I could get my hand down fast enough but really - no go - it's just so obvious. All it would take is one person looking at my hand and the gig would be up. Any suggestions? Special exercises? LOVE LOVE LOVE your tutorials by the way!
@bamboookizeme62085 жыл бұрын
you can use your wrist/arm to help you palm cards as well. Even though it's called palming, you don't have to hide the cards in your palms only. Also, don feel as if you have to keep the card straight while palming.
@wendyvank5 жыл бұрын
@@bamboookizeme6208 Thanks - tried it but it doesn't work. The problem is the diameter of my wrist is 2.25" at it's widest spot which is where it intersects with my hand; an inch further down my arm it shrinks to 2". The cards are 2.75 inches. I can squeeze the card using the base of my pinky and thumb to curl it - the problem is that by that point my hand is in a completely contorted position *and* the damned card is still visible on either side of my wrist... Seriously, this problem is the bane of my existence in sleight of hand! I'm 57 years old so no chance of growing. I'm just incredibly small boned. There has GOT to be another solution. Ugggh!
@wendyvank5 жыл бұрын
One other thing - I can do a tenkai palm but man - I have about 1/8th of an inch play on either side of my wrists. The angle of my hand has to be perfect for someone looking at me from the side for them to not see the card. The slightest tilt of my hand and it's all over. Plus, you can't use tenkai in a lot of these moves.
@bamboookizeme62085 жыл бұрын
@@wendyvank Im sorry, I may not have anymore insight to help you out. Perhaps there would be a deck of cards that is smaller in size but of great quality? I am sure other people have thought about this so this could possibly have a pending kickstarter project to be backed.
@wendyvank5 жыл бұрын
@@bamboookizeme6208 Thanks for your reply! Bicycle and others make bridge decks which are smaller and are good for me - I just don't want to use smaller cards! I don't know - they just look... small. The average person would pick up on it right away. But there are smaller cards out there and I do have them. I used them a lot to practice my one handed cuts that seemed impossible to do with a larger deck but now I can do them with a regular deck. Maybe with enough practice I will be able to hit that very small "sweet spot" in my palm with ease. Right now it frustrates me to no end because so many amazing affects are done with palming.

I have a lot of experience with card magic. My suggestion is to study Ed Marlo on the lateral palm also study Jim Steranko. From what I see you might be good at juggling but nobody sees any magic. If you have apparently done only normal actions and the magic still happens, then you are a magician.

I have a question.. is there a difference between plastic cards and paper cards? Is it better to use paper cards in card tricks?
@patrickcarter87625 жыл бұрын
Yes you «must» use PAPER cards because there are many things/moves/sleights you can not do with plastic cards. Also plastic cards are making a LOT of noise which is a problem in many tricks. Plastic are good for poker or jumbo cards but not for magic neither for cardistry 🙃
@hellohi46445 жыл бұрын
U use plastic cards if u want to use them for card throwing and letting people handle them like playing poker etc..
@hellohi46445 жыл бұрын
The quality of plastic cards are lower in every way compared to paper cards. U shouldn't care as much for plastic cards compared to paper cards. Take care of paper cards

I would just add up that ppl you should do an invisible control before this. You obviously dont have to, but it is helpfull. Its much easier to get away with this kind of moves if the spectator thinks his card is in the middle, and if you give him "by accident" all to cues that you are not holding breaks, etc. You give all those convincers in the process, just by the way you handle the deck. Dont you EVER forget, they DONT KNOW where you are going to with the trick, so, dont run when you arent being chased. If you know a good switch, its also of humongous help. If the spectator "clearly sees" his card sticking out of the deck, he will just not even suspect you are doing something weird, all untill his card isnt pushed in. As long as its sticking outjogged of the deck, you have all the time in the world.
