For those who notice the 3 names in the start of the game. Troy, Tim, and Joseph were the creators of Marble Hornets, an lost footage indie series and its available on KZbin. I'm glad that they are credited in the game and I think they are the writers for this game i think?

Slenderman was from a creepy picture submitted to "something awful forums", it got its popularity from both the "slenderman the 8 pages" game, as well as the marble hornets youtube series(a slenderman ARG) , which the creators of marble hornets also helped out in making this game. I remember this because i used to love the slenderverse back in my old youtube days. Marblehornets is what inspired the slenderverse to begin with. You had all these different channels collaborating to create this crazy elaborate slenderman series. Like darkharvest00, tribetwelve, MLAnderson, Everymanhybrid and so many others. This brings back nostalgia.

Now this is the classic horror game! I have seen it being played by so many KZbinrs back in the day. Markiplier is the one that introduced me to this game and boy oh boy did they changed this game a lot now huh. This was genuinely for me one of the scariest horror games ever made, it terrified me for many years, the atmosphere, the characters, the setting and many more things that took my attention so much on this game. I love it so much still so much years later.

I didn't realize how close to the end of this game I got. When I played, I stopped at the end of the chapter in the fields with the scarecrow. At the end, when that thing is chasing you and screaming, my anxiety was through the roof. As soon as I finished that chapter, I shut the game off and never returned to it, haha.

Slenderman started out as a Creepypasta. As for his origin in terms of the lore itself, i'm not sure. But he's some sort of entity that collects/feeds on souls (im assuming preferably children), and is insanity inducing. Something like Bughuul from the Sinister franchise.

im a 02 baby so when slender man was huge in the 2010s i was a very young kid. i wasnt really scared/ the other horror villains really never had the effect on me like slender did. i would literally wake up crying or having insane panic attacks because of the intense nightmares. it didnt help that a way slender would attack you would be through your dreams, but i remember having the absolute worst time for a large time frame. so now im a 22-year-old young man, and this play through literally hit entirely different. im a huge horror person so it takes a lot to actually frighten me and make me jump. good stuff hollow just as always!

the myth of the slender man is a creepypasta that evolved from posts on something awful forums back in 2009, but slender the arrival didn't just work off of that story. it also worked with the guys that made a found footage style series about the slender man here on youtube called marble hornets. troy wagner, tim sutton and joseph delage actually helped build up the lore and story of the game and their series really added a lot to the creepypasta of the slender man. a lot of fans of the series were ecstatic when we found out the devs for slender the arrival reached out to them to work with, and honestly the fact they did that is a big part of why this is the best slender man game we ever got and not just another page collector with no lore kind of game. this is a month late i know but i just had to mention marble hornets because i love it.

Rewatching this and I’m not sure if I commented before but here is Slenders lore: It was created in a photoshop contest on the SomethingAwful forums circa 2008 (?). The contest was to basically make the creepiest photo. This spurred others to make lore for him. Marble Hornets was created shortly after in 2009 using the name “The Operator” for their Slenderman inspired creature. A movie was made in 2018 inspired by Marble Hornets. Slender: The Eight Pages came out in 2012 creating a different story, to escape Slender you had to find 8 pages. From there he grew in popularity from many youtubers playing the game. More origin stories were created by Creepypasta fans, there is no original/origin story due to being created in a photoshop contest so it gave people the freedom to be creative.
