This is technically the theme of a man who has reached his absolute limit. He contemplates bringing everything back to the way it was with a wish that destroyed all the other universes. He hates himself, he hates that he has limits like that, and he hates that he can't break them. He's Goku's complete counterpart, a man who has limits and has reached them. Goku has never and will never fail to break his limits. Goku beats Jiren in the end, maybe not in a fight, but in potential. He said he was searching for something beyond strength, I imagine he meant happiness. He isn't happy with what he's become and he has thrown everything away to become what he is. People knock Jiren's backstory, and I will admit there are cliche aspects. But if you think about it, it is pretty sad. Imagine everyone you loves dying, then gaining the strength to stop that from ever happening again, but becoming so obsessed that you never stop. Then, in the end, you reach your absolute physical limit, so you lose the ability to even get any stronger. Jiren is a man who literally has nothing any more.

Jiren beating lssj kale with one energy ball is an indicator that raw uncontrollable power doesn’t mean you can win against him. You must have an unbelievable power beyond any level even beyond the level of gods and achieve the state of an angel and master it andhave battle Strategies in order to stand a chance against him. Broly simply is brute force nothing more.just please look at how MUI goku and everyone reacts when jiren awaken his hidden powers VS goku reacts to broly goes to SS.I mean look how much effort went to knock jiren out . The truth is he didn’t even lose to MUI goku because of how gokus body couldn’t handle the stress of MUI and got knocked by jiren except to only be saved by Frieza, Just like when Frieza lost to goku when he first awaken his golden form the stress was to much for him and lost.When jiren first awakens his hidden powers he overwhelmed goku several times.first he landed the first punch then his beam overpowered gokus kamehameha then he hit goku with his beam and knock him unconscious ( plot armor moment Krillin saves goku). Then goku overpowered jiren for two or three seconds then his body fails him and get knocked (plot armor saved by freeza). Zeno-sama foresaw the warrior that will be standing in the end won’t make a selfish wish so Jiren is set to lose to (trust and friendship from the beginning). Jiren obviously doesn’t care about anything except power. I think the reason jiren had to lose is because the writer wanted to send a clear message to us, and change Jirens intentions and direction. The message is how important is friendship and how much you can grow as a person working hard with your friends and be good to others. Jiren didn’t give a single fuck about anyone since his master died. He believed that only power is what matters. So he got strong all by himself no 5 people giving him godly like power or training with angels. So he must lose to something more powerful than strength. He must see what is friendship and what effect it has to others like goku when he about to lose his friends cheers for him and he gets stronger. For example: when lord beerus launches the final attack on earth goku was struggling so hard and passed out but then his wife kids and friends call for him and give him power you can clearly see it in that moment (blue energy) comes to goku. Then after deafening the attack lord beerus asks goku what was that goku answers I don’t know. Then the gods of creation explained it after their battle that the earth it self and people can give you powers far beyond your imagination.Friends and how their help can help you achieving somethings you simply can’t do on your own. You can see Jiren acknowledging that when goku and Frieza gave him the final punch. Also, durning the finale fight when all three of number 17 Frieza and goku broke the energy wall from jiren when he stood up for the first time in his life for his universe and friend topo he was smiling because he knew what is friendship and what can it do. He was smiling during the last fight and was happy because he found a new way to gain an even more power than he have.And he explained it at the end with topo after the wish was made, and universe 11 was back. Now jiren will get the help of others and become even stronger. Jiren is stronger than any god. He’s stronger than anything beside angels and their father. He’s simply strong plain and simple just like the Kai said in the tournament of power.

Yeah my point exactly once jiren wanted to show goku how weak his source of power is trust and friendship he started to lose. If you look at the big picture he was set up to lose from the start because he didn’t care about trust and friendship and when he win he will obviously wish for more power and that will get him erased anyway. I’m just simply saying he got this strong without anyone’s help he cast away everyone unlike goku. as far as him being stronger than the angels currently no but he showed that he can overcome mui just look at his fight with goku before the friendship crap he was winning. He definitely is the mortal that can be above angels with the help of his universe god of destruction and angel.
