A big part of it is for myself. However, I also wear it less in the hopes that other aces will recognise it and chat to me (though that's also cool) but so that aces who are feeling isolated and "weird" can see me being openly ace and realise that they're not the only one and there's nothing wrong with them. Also, though I like the idea of it being a secret symbol, I do hope more people start wearing them and increasing ace visibility.

Yeah I actually do wish it was more well known in the ace community and the LGBT+ community in general, it's nice that it's a subtle pride symbol but I still want it to be recognized as a pride symbol haha

Just TODAY I saw a person on the train with a black ring on their middle finger.Unfortunately it was on their left hand, so I wasn’t 100% if they were. I’ve seen a few individuals wearing black rings on the middle finger of their left hand. Sometimes I wonder if they are ace or not and are just wearing it on the left as a preference? Overall, in my life, I’ve seen two people with a black ring on their middle finger of their right hand, but I was too afraid to ask them because I was at my job and working. I wear an ace ring, but I also wear a white ring on my middle finger of my left hand. It’s an unofficial symbol for the aromantic community. I like the black and white mix though because whenever I’m explaining the asexual-sexual spectrum, I can use my two hands to gesture the spectrum with asexual being on one side and sexual being on the other. For me, I wear both my rings for educational purposes. I get a few people asking me about my rings (I guess the black and white mix catches the eye). So I’m very happy to share my identity in those moments. I also wear it for myself to help me remember that I’m not alone. Honestly, after wearing the rings I feel more confident about being aromantic and asexual now more than ever before.

I just recently discovered I was demisexual, and I really liked the idea of wearing a ring, more so black since that's usually my go to color. The only problem is I like to wear my rings on the left, but I know the ace ring is supposed to be on the right hand. My own reasoning is that I'm currently in a relationship and don't want to wear the ring on my right cause the left hand is sort of like the "I'm taken" hand due to the ring finger being for marriage. It is very conflicting, and I kinda just switch them around from time to time 😂 But I do want to get recognized out in public and meet others who are ace or demi or anywhere on the spectrum. Just hope they recognize me 😭

I just bought an ace ring online, and I'm excited to get it! I want to wear one because I really like jewelry that has meaning behind it, and I want to show off my asexuality, even if nobody else gets it. To me it's a way of reminding myself that there's nothing to be ashamed of in being who I am.

Imagine the irony of wearing an ace ring and been mistaken for a swinger XD Love your ring, by the way, and I'll probably get one for myself one day. I like the idea of having some kind of secret membership sign. It's a nice way of reminding yourself you're not alone.

I don't recall anyone recognizing my ring as an ace ring and telling me explicitly, but I remember one time someone I talked to very briefly told me she liked my ring in a knowing way, so that was cool. I guess I mostly wear mine both in hopes that some people would one day recognize it, and as a comfort to myself

I have an ace ring. It's black with an ace of spades card engraved onto the outside so it's unmistakable. However, I play cards and it's common to have those kinds of rings on your hands when playing poker, especially since I frequent casinos (they're called poker rings) so my card playing buddies think it's just poker/black jack bling lol.

I recently got a black jade ring off Etsy (wearing it today actually), after I realized I was ace-spec, so I could wear a little bit of my identity without raising relatives' eyebrows. I come from a very conservative Christian family, so anything remotely LGBTQ+ is very frowned upon. I already wear a lot of rings, so what's one more for them? it means a lot to me, though. it's also a way for me to kind of signal to others (I know a few LGBTQ+ people at my uni) that I'm one of them, and feel like part of a larger community.

I am shopping about myself, I'm in a similar boat myself. Though I don't wear rings often I do often randomly choose to wear random things (Necklaces/Hats/Ect) so If I just so happened to enter a ring wearing "phase" I could easily play it off to my family as nothing more than a passing phase and they likely wouldn't even bat an eye.

I am only now learning about asexuality and thinking I might be ace. I am thinking about getting a black ring just as you said, to remind me that asexuality is a thing and that I am not weird or broken for not feeling/very rarely feeling sexual attraction. Thank you so much for your videos, they are so helpful! 👍😊

I bought a black ring but haven’t worn it much (mostly because I don’t really like the style of the ring and I’m slightly paranoid it will get stuck on my finger). I actually wear mine on my pinky finger because I don’t like symmetry. I wear it because most of the time I feel my asexuality is invisible and so I wanted something physical to represent it/display it as a part of who I am, even if no one will ever recognize its symbolic meaning.

Hi, great videos, just spent the day binge watching them all and viewing some of the links. Looks like I am Asexual then but never knew it until yesterday. I'm a bit older and even though I have never had or ever wanted a relationship I just regarded myself as a bit weird and unique but I had gotten used to it. I've heard of asexual as an identity more recently in passing but had thought that asexual meant no sex drive at all so didn't think it would include me. These videos are great for raising awareness for both people who can now identify (like me) and for others to create a greater understanding. I'm possibly aromantic as well but not sure about this one just yet. I certainly have been until now but as I get older it can feel like a lonely place sometimes, and I am getting less comfortable with that. However I wouldn't know where to start or which way to go. I've been trying to imagine different relationship scenarios for myself (I can be prone to elaborate fantasy sometimes) but can't really get my head around that just yet. I guess I have some more soul-searching to do first and should probably try to meet and talk to some real people. Trains into London are quite easy for me so I should think I will be able to find something from the links that will help. Anyway it's been good to get that off my chest and thanks again for all the uploads. :)

I know the feeling of being weird and unique. I found out I was asexual and aromantic about two years ago, it felt like a weight had been lifted off my chest and I felt like I could breath for the first time. I had always been different and others around me kept telling me that I needed to have sex, and now that I know I don't need sex or romance I'm much happier knowing that I'm not alone.
@SliceOfAce5 жыл бұрын
I'm glad that you're figuring it out, and I'm happy to have helped :) Good luck working out your romantic orientation! I'll try to have an aromantic person on ASAP, if you're still questioning at that point. But there should be a lot of resources around for Aro Awareness Week, so you're in luck!

I just figured out I’m aspec this year, and given that we’re all sheltering in place here in CA, the ace ring I bought is definitely just for me for now. Once we’re allowed to interact with non-household humans again, I’m hoping it will identify me to other aces so that I can form connections and build community IRL. For this purpose, I deliberately got a not-so-covert ring off Etsy which has a little ace flag in the shape of a spade on it. Just to avoid any ambiguity lol.

I'm only now starting to identify as asexual, and honestly, the ace ring helped me towards self-acceptance. I had this internalized aphobia going on in a way that asexuality isn't a "cool" sexuality with community and a little subculture of sorts but I just think black rings are really really cool and obviously when asexuality is associated with something I find that cool, it can't not be cool. Yes, I know that only getting myself to accept my own sexuality by having it associated with something cool is a far cry from optimal, but at least I only apply it to myself and I just try to accept myself the way I am.

Started wearing my Silicone Ace Ring last month, a week after I realized I was Ace (Pan-Rom Aego). Previously, in my 20's and 30's, I thought I was Bi, then Pansexual. But, last month, on the week of my 41st Birthday, I realized that I never actually had sex, but simply enjoyed pleasing others, but never had intercourse. I only had 4 relationships (2 females, 2 males) but never had direct intercourse, subconsciously avoiding it, even. So I wear my ring to remind myself, and others, who I really am.

I have only just recently realised that I'm asexual (literally only told one person, that's how recent) after a seemingly harmless and ineffective funny ace Doctor who video I sent to my friend whose ace and the next video in auto play was about signs you might be ace, followed by like 2 days straight (no pun intended) of research leading me to connect many dots and form the conclusion that I was. But anyway I already Have a black ring that I got, speedily approaching 10 years ago now for my 18th which I've recently started wearing on my right hand middle finger and it feels right, so more for me than anything, as a sort of confirmation I guess. It will be interesting to see if it does catch anyone's eye at any point. I mean, the ring does have a grayish silver band around the middle, but you probably wouldn't notice that at a glance.

I have a silicone one, and a thinner and thicker metal, because sometimes certain stuff on my hands can bother me at certain times, so I can change them out, also the thicker metal one also has a purple gem on it :). I wear my ace ring in the hopes that another ace person notices it and chats with me, but also partly for my self and it’s also just nice to have.

I just recently realized this about myself, and its a huge reassurance knowing I am not alone. That being said my family will never understand so while some people can decorate there rooms with flags/pillows/blankets etc I am going to have to go for something a little more subtle (which I am not upset with I, like you, am introverted as hell being invisible works 100% for me) So, while I could go for a flashy ring with the flag stripes I might go with some basic black ring. Say its some family heirloom if they ask questions and I don't feel comfortable telling.
