I watched several performances of this show over the past few days, and have to say that these two are by far the best Madam and Monsieur Thénardier. They just capture the characters so perfectly, a complete sleeze and a drunken wench that love to hate and hate to love each other to the fullest. You can just tell that they love these roles and put their all into it, with little bits like the look Monsieur gives when he says 'lighten your purse' and how giddy he acts when going over how he charges extra for the mirror.

2001, Manhattan. I'm a tourist from NZ. I walked out on to 5th Ave and was heckled by a hustler if I wanted tickets to the theater. We haggled back and forth till I got down to the a ridiculous amount. He agreed and I parted with $50 for 2 tickets not knowing if they were legit or not. Got to Broadway tand the ticket guy jumped on his walkie talkie asking for back up. I thought my wife and i were gonna be arrested. A man with a white tuxedo and white gloves came down and asked us to follow him upstairs, we were given the best seats in the house (similar to the old men in the Muppets show). We couldn't believe our luck. We were sitting next to Japanese royalty who were dressed in tuxedos and ball gowns. I just had my swandri and jeans. It was the most incredible 3 hours of my life. I'd never been to a show before. One of the most thrilling parts is when the orchestra conductor threw his stick on to the stage for the bad cop to catch who caught it backwards, pointed it Jean Val Jean and tossed it back backwards to the conductor who continued to conduct as though nothing had ever happened. A magical once in a lifetime event I'll never forget.
