I like how neither of them really tried to go after Supes but were more trying to have him drive harder into the other guy. And for what it's worth, it really felt like Superman while ripping into Omni saw a chance at redemption and was quick to point out his flaws and how to fix them, whereas he simply reprimands Homewrecker. Also, yes, I miss heroes just being heroes

Honestly? I *REALLY* like Omniman because for all his faults, he's not just "Bad superman", he was politically indoctrinated and brainwashed by what remains of a race of what are (lets be real) Super-nazis. He admits he's at fault on some level, some part of him wants to fight back against his fellow Viltrumites to the point he's willing to kill them. He's a flawed character at his core and that's what makes him interesting. Before Mark (AKA Invincible) Omniman had just been purging and conquering worlds he held no physical or mental regard for. That his own (First-born) son was willing to stand up and fight back until his literal dying breaths made him self-reflect what he's fighting for. He still holds some tie to the empire but it shocks him at his core. Superman on the other hand didn't have any such brainwashing. He grew up on a backwoods farm in rural America. He was *Raised* to be humble and helping others without reward. He's just a down-to-earth (pun not intended) guy that wants to help others because that's the right thing to do Homelander takes the "Bad superman trope" and just cuts all the good traits of Omniman out and makes him into a monster without any reason to like him. He has **SERIOUS** mommy issues, psychopathic and is just willing to kill anyone and everyone to prove he's "The best" and that everyone should love and/or respect him because of this.

Was raised in a lab where he was literally tortured by being cooked in ovens and isolated for long periods to see how much damage he can withstand. And to keep him controllable they literally brought in top psychologists in order to get to his head and drive a desperate need for approval into him so that he always has a blocker on him going totally berserk out of fear of being a disappointment. I don't know much about Kryptonians and I don't read the comics much but General Zod (who shows up in a few films I haven't seen either) suggest Kal-El doesn't resonate with that. He doesn't want conquest, he doesn't want to use his power to rule, to subjugate or step on necks. In fact he's *horrified* in canon spins of the idea that his people would want to be fascists/dictators/imperialists. Superman is considered "The one that taught us to be heroes" by the Justice League because he just wants to help and he does everything he can to be the bigger man both metaphorically and physically. Even when monsters and villains try to influence/corrupt him he always comes out on top because barring alternate universes where he's an absolute puppy-kicker the superman we know in the 'canonical' universe fights to ensure all can live in peace and have their own say. Omniman is an absolute bastard at the start of the comics. No-one would argue this. But he comes to realize he's been brainwashed in his fight with Mark at least to *some* degree. He admits guilt, he's at fault and while he still has loyalty to the Viltrumites his entire world-view has been given a haymaker. NO-one is going to say Homelander hasn't been wronged. In fact I genuinely would like to feel sorry for the guy. He was a test-tube baby, he was brutalized on a scale that barring maybe Soldier-Boy no one has endured. The problem is he doesn't grow from that. He doesn't try to better himself, he falls into his own trauma and goes down the drain and lets the desire for self-approval consume him. He needs to be loved. If no one will love him he will *MAKE* the public love him...failing that he will make them fear him... Even then? Look me in the eyes and tell me Homelander is even a minnow in the pool that Omniman or Superman live in. Homelander is a nobody in terms of power. He is an annoying tick or flea at best.
