This channel does some of the greatest work for the entire fencing community. Also, really good clip of the football ref talking. Good attention to detail.

How is Sandro allowed to fence after the headbutting attempt?
@stevep17629 ай бұрын
Referees who try to hurry the fencers by saying engarde-pret BEFORE the fencers are ready does exactly what you said, allows the later fencer to dictate the timing. They need to change to say engarde - wait for the fencers to be still THEN say pret-allez.

Do coming back from 40-43 vs Szilagy was amazing, worth watching that one too, Hugary were 30-20 down and dragged it all the way back before losing on the last hit!
I'm not always the best sport on the piste, but if the ref shows me he's not afraid to throw card I WILL shut up pretty fast lol. There's a precedent being set that if you're number 1 in the world you can act like a child, both these guy should be a better example regardless.

I find it so interesting all the things going on in fencing. If we keep going down this path, I worry about the sport in the long run

I thought exactly the same about the Mexico-Korea. Too many coincidences, and had been there other inusual bouts and decisions in past events

I saw in live, the bout between Korea vs Bulgaria and México in lima. And we couldnt believe why the didnt give the touches to Korea.

i have been told that they were only teasing the ref, they saw that he was giving very bad calls, so they just started playing with him. now i think that they still have a good relationship.
@stevep17629 ай бұрын
I think Patrice's card was for crossing with his counter attack. Agree it's reprise for Bazadze, too many steps back IMO. Agree with your analysis of every call here. The mistake at 12-13 is the worst one because it makes the biggest difference in the fight. Patrice could easily have been black carded here at the end for both the chest bump and the thrown mask. Bazadze's aggression, leaving the piste toward the referee all the time is intimidation which isn't acceptable either.

I love Bazadze for his passion but he surely does get away with a lot of things😂

Fencing rules back in my day were simpler, the one who isn't bleeding out on a floor is clearly a winner.

And also for the women’s individual competition in Lima, I think it is interesting to look at the bout of Berder vs Perez (L64) with some calls especially the last one being kind of weird imo, and the bout of Apithy Brunet vs Pusztai (L16) for the same reason especially the drama after the last touch. I am not going to theorize about whether the referee was trying to favor one side or the other because I don’t know much about that but I feel I general a lot of bouts are having controversial calls. Really controversial…

A video will never be made about these bouts because the names Valiyev and Nazlymov are not related to the bouts. Channels like these are only trying to trash Nazlymov and Valiyev at this point. They don't truly care about corruption in the FIE or bad calls they only care about taking down Valiyev and Nazlymov.

Does the corruption in Sabre only exist in sabre or is this seen in foil and epee as well?

All three but in Sabre referees make more decisions so it’s worse

@@Roberto-bf7us referees can still ref and coach, refs have power over cards, and the inconsistency in cards is still something
@cloudnein34838 ай бұрын
There's bound to be some corruption or extremely poor management in the other weapons, but there is a lot more ambiguity for sabre, the only instance I can think of for epee is the time error in the London Olympic Semi Final Women's bout between Shin and Heidemann

Yep he did, not with Apithy but with Pianfetti and Bibi. They joined Anstett after it was announced he wouldn’t be French coach anymore. Apithy on the other hand is at the Bauer academy

there is a lot of bias to certain fencers, especially to Sandro, and refs let him get away with wayyy too much, should really be looked in too.

@@UnknownUser-wt3ng sorry im so late on the reply, but could you please elaborate, if i remember correctly in Tokyo Sandro had a very fair bout with Szylagi, in fact, in his T8 bout with Oh, the ref gave him an extra point which gave Sandro the upperhand, but i remember no bad calls against sandro at Tokyo.

Assuming there is as much corruption as indirectly stated in this video, who in their right mind will dare to black card a top fencer, knowing what the backlash from the corrupt officials will be? Explains the complacency of referees towards top fencers.
