Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Those are so beautiful. Polish a face and who wouldn't want that as a gift. Most of us can't slab and polish rocks. I had to part with my lapidary equipment when my health got bad so I really appreciate the beauty of a well worked rock. Life is better 'on the rocks'.

That last seam agate is just awesome. That's better than any rock I've ever found.

These seam agates along the Bay of Fundy come in a variety of patterns and colors. Some spots are harder to get to than others. This one was found in a spot where the tide can be dangerous if you don't time it right.
@MichiganRocks3 жыл бұрын
@@RockhoundingLife I'm glad I don't have to worry about tides. Are these a different variety than the ones you found in the river with your friend? Those looked really cool, but I don't remember the white in them. The contrast between the red and white really makes these great.
@RockhoundingLife3 жыл бұрын
@@MichiganRocks The flame seam agates I was finding in the river are in a younger basalt unit about 50kms away from the spot these cherry plume seam agates were found. This cherry plume seam agate was found in the cliff face along the Bay of Fundy shoreline. The Nova Scotia side of the Bay of Fundy is rich in basalt. There are 7 different basalt flows in the region spanning about 400km of shoreline. This results in a huge variety of agates and seam agates that you can find from these basalt as well as Zeolites and other minerals.
@MichiganRocks3 жыл бұрын
@@RockhoundingLife I remember you showing the geological map of your area. It's cool that there is so much variety that is right from that general area. A lot of the variety here is from glaciers moving rocks in. Different, but still good.

I really really appreciate hearing your thought process for where you decide to cut, and seeing what the rough looked like as you decide the angle. Sometimes I get stuck there, at the point of cutting, which direction to go
@RockhoundingLife2 жыл бұрын
Yes it can be a struggle trying to determine the best way to cut something. Sometimes you just have to go with your gut and hope for the best! Thanks for watching!

Wow!!! Unbelievable how beautiful they all turned out. The black agate and the jasper colors in the cycad trees is so awesome, and the seam agates all turned out stunning! Love the last 2 agates so much. I cant wait for the next ones you cut! Im sure you have some more favorites up next.

I never mind a few fractures because they tell more of the story of where the rock has been. (Or maybe the agates I find in the Yellowstone River have just been beaten up for millennia, so I’m prejudiced. ) Thanks, guys, nice video.

With agates I like the banded parts shiny and the rest/host rock a little rough. I like the jasper to be rounded smooth and shiny. Thanks for watching!!!

Beautiful stones and beautiful to see a great Dad inspiring a passion in his kids. As someone who didnt have a good Dad like u, good work. These moments will enrich their lives. And as a newbie rockhounder from OR, who began going out to the beach for agates daily a few months back when I realized how awesome my new home state is for this hobby, I really loved this video and how thoroughly you explained for ppl like me just learning. I'm hoping to get a saw in a couple months. LOVED the fire agate, WOW!!😍Happy to have discovered your channel. Subbed! Happy holidays.
