Slide the green tab on the drum error in brother printers

SO THE WHOLE TIME I HAD THE GREEN TABS SLID ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT (HERES THE FIX) SLIDE ALL TABS TO THE RIGHT DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

THANK YOU! My unit didn't have the green tabs although the error message told me to slide them! Anyway, I tried vacuuming the the excess toner in the unit...AND IT WORKED!

Yep. My process was (1) Remove all cartridges, (2) Blow out ink dust from inside the printer with an air can, (3) Eject toners from ink cartridges, (4) Blow off cartridges and toners, (5) Clean cartridge roller drums with rubbing alcohol (like in video). Be sure to manually roll the drums using the plastic dial on the outside to be sure you clean them all the way around, (6) Inside the printer, underneath where the cartridges were, clean the wide belt with rubbing alcohol, (7) Put it all back together. Voila, error resolved. Thank you!

I was skeptical this would work... but nothing from nothing equals nothing... so I tried it and sure enough it cured the error. $130 not spent on a new drum.

Flipping my drum over and cleaning the rollers from underneath with a cotton ball and isopropyl alcohol did the trick for me! Thank you!

I was so frustrated that I was ready to throw the printer out the window. I thought I would need to "replace the drum" and looked on Amazon for replacement drums that looked just like toner cartridges to me (?). Anyway, after watching your video, I took out the cartridge, wiped underneath with a paper towel, and put the cartridge back in. A miracle! No more drum error! Then, I got another error message on my laptop, went to check the printer (fearing the worst) and lo and behold, I was just out of paper! So far, I have not seen the "drum error" again. Thank you so much!!!!!!

Oh my Goodness. I thought I was looking at my printer for one second, lol. Mine is like that, after I used aftermarket toner. So, how do I clean the area that has all the powder? If I use a duster, won't that blow all the ink all over the place? thanks. I get that error all the time and just slide the green tab (corona wire) back and forth and works great. I love my printer. Thanks for the video

Thanks, I just sprayed windex on both drums, cartridge and transfer, wiped it out with spongie and it did the trick.

The very spartan instructions with the new toner just says to slide the green tab. They could be more specific, slide in what direction? slide it back and forth? what position to leave it?

Sliding the tab was a very temporary fix for me at first. Then, it didn't work at all after a while. You may need to wipe underneath your cartridge with a paper towel.

Thank you so much! I had a 9140-CDN and loved it but after a year I got the drum error message and could not fix it so I purchased another one. One year later same issue. Kept both in their boxes and just saw your video and more importantly your message about sliding the cleaning things to the right and leaving them. Bingo, the first one I tried it on worked perfectly afterwards. No cleaning, just slid the green things to the right and left them there. Problem solved.

I believe it's called a corona wire cleaner(the green tab). You're suppose to side it back and forth to clean the corona wire whenever you install a new toner cartridge or are having print issues. I think it has to do with "fixing" the toner as it's printing.
