2013 Reno Air Races: The Continuum

here's a collection of footage from our "behind the scenes camera". We are thrashing away editing our footage from the RED Epic camera. None of the footage in this video is from the RED, that will come later this year. I put this video together to help get the message out to support the Reno Championship Air Races for 2014. We at Horsepower do not make a profit form these video's, they are just for all of us fans of the worlds fastest motorsport! Also just a shout out to the boys out at Pylon 4 who helped us out this year. Opts'1 makes it all happen! Also to the Precious Metal Team, the best damn fan friendliest team out there! and The boys at Recovery 1 for saving us a sport in the shade at the end of R28. Finally a Huge thanks to the Colonel, who allows us to film from the Air National Guard Base!

Reno, as always, is epic. I've always hope that someone would eventually bring back a 'Red Baron RB-51' tribute aircraft. It was my favorite of the 70's and to see it recreated once again would be mind blowing. Cheers to Mr. Hinton!

Randolph B Actually I have heard of 'Precious Metal' ... both of them .. the fairly stock one that was in a fatal collision a few years ago, and the racing version. Lovely planes, indeed, but the 'Red Baron RB-51' was always my favorite.

Just absolutely loved the music. Especially the way it covered the incredible sound of air racing. As a lover of air power and the sounds that go with it, you did an absolute perfect job of making sure viewers like me could not hear the reason I clicked on your video. Reno is almost unrecognisable as far as unlimited aircraft are concerned. Most of the top performers don't have the budget to run anymore or are damaged. Dreadnought won last time out at just over 400mph. There was a time where that speed would only just get you in the gold final. Precious Metal out, Furious out, Czech Mate out, Critical Mass back to stock, Dago Red back to stock, etc etc.

We are currently working on the video, we felt we didn't have enough F1, and Biplane action to finish the video this year. This is a good thing. I understand you may not like this style of video, I'm okay with that. It's your grandkids that I'm trying to get to understand Reno Air Racing. We need them to understand this event, its history, and how special and kickass it is. Without their participation as fans, this event will not be around. Just like board track motorcycle racing vanished, due to an accident, Reno is on the verg of vanishing too. The Splinter Road - 1922 Rise and fall of Indian Board track Racers. The Reno Air Races is an action sport, before the term was coined. I'm just presenting this sport more like other action sports are presented, hoping that it will make a positive difference for the Races, and Racers.

Don't be a fool. The type attending Reno that you are referring to are dying off and losing your medicals at a much faster rate than new people are becoming interested in aviation. The races will die with you if your most notable contribution to young people in aviation is to complain about how they're different (like old men have done since one caveman saw another without gray hair). The writing is on the wall, that at this pace, general aviation and Reno will not exist in the future if you continue to fail at engaging young people. The video was well done, it has 3800 views at the moment, and if that gets even 1% of viewers to go to races next year then it was worth it. He isn't changing the races and I think it goes without saying that he understands that if he can get people to just show up, they're going to love it. What have you done Sharps?

Rid yourself of the constant, loud and annoying music in your video. You need more up close cameras on the race. One to lead the planes as they make the turns and one to catch the planes as they pass and one to follow the overall race.Unlike NASCAR and the brick yard races people do not go to RENO for the inevitable crashes as are expected in any crowded car race. They go for the beautiful planes, the blinding speed and the thrill of watching men and machines do something that most humans will never get to do. I Attended RENO back in the mid sixties when Mira Slovac raced an F4U Corsair to victory. The planes thundered and screamed and shrieked as they passed the grand stands flat out. This was exactly what I had come for. The screaming crowd, the sense of danger, the beauty of the thorough bred racers, the grand scale of the terrain all came together at RENO.
