Thanks for posting this video and especially for the very informative bio of Mr Gaillard. I was delighted to learn at last the identity of his very entertaining bassist Bam Brown.

Slim looked like a slightly beefier Chuck Berry. Man, talk about a guy not getting his due! This guy should have been bigger and still be famous.

Yes totally. In fact he was such a great guitarist that he could easily have done what Chuck Berry did and become famous in R&B and early R&R in addition to jazz. The guy was a musical genius. It's only becaue he was Black that he didn't get the fame any white man with his talents would certainly have gotten.

I saw a clip on tv (BB2 or Channel UK) of slim playing the piano with his hands upside down, should be impossible but he did it. It did look like it was from this performance. It was totally amazing , These guys had major talent but liked to have fun with it, which is just an brilliant attitude to have when you are so talented.

Same guy. 40s jazz musician and Jack Nicholson collaborator. This is a great trio. Miles probably started turning his back to the crowd in response to this kind of thing.
