Hey Slim! I always enjoy any and all of your videos!!! You travel to sooooooo many beautiful and interesting destinations. But for some strange reason I REALLY enjoy your videos about the cabin. My favorite was making and installation of your toilet. It was a really interesting and super funny show!!! I always admire your abilities to take on any projects you encounter!!!! I was a tool maker for 50+ years and could hold .0001 (one tenth of a thousandth), but when making any thing out of wood, I was really challenged to try to hold a measurement within 1/4” every stinking time. Thanks a million Slim for all the many hours of enjoyment you produce for all of us!!!!!

I just wanted to say thank you for all the content. I am at New River, working on an older cottage. I lack your skill level…. But draw inspiration from your story telling. I am completing a small solar project and it won’t be quite as fancy as your foldable panel case - but it will be close. I hope life is better for you now and don’t worry about the last live event (I know - you deleted it). You touch a lot of people in positive means…. but the trips and cottage also touch 😅 a lot of folks so thanks for being you… with the example that many of us can follow. Great work Slim!!

Where we live, hanging silhouettes of owls by the corners of the house on posts or in the windows works well to prevent birds from approaching. They still hang around, just not too close to the house.

We live in a rural area with lots of birds. We absolutely love our view and find the stickers to prevent bird strikes doesn’t interfere at all with our view. Some are nearly transparent. The birds see the reflection of the sky and trees and cannot differentiate that from the real thing. I believe the loss of birds due to striking glass as a whole is very high. I also found crystal chandelier strings on marketplace for $2 string. I hang them in the windows where we had the most problems. And they are pretty.

Not that I think what I say has any impact on you, but when I said I didn't like the music and would rather hear you talk, that's exactly it. I enjoy listening to you talk. I don't dislike that you have music in your videos. You should always make your videos the way you want them. If you're happy when you've finished editing, then that's great. What's a sawsall?
@douglaswindsor1205 ай бұрын
@@SlimPotatohead a sawsall is basically a jigsaw on steroids although its a brand name everybody just uses it to identify any tool with blades coming out of the end of the saw they have a bigger stronger blade than jigsaws I used one to take down a house once the builder hadn't thought of the fact that the house was 2 foot from the property line and the neighbor glassed in porch was on the property line and a bulldozer or track hoe would have a hard time in demolition of the house without damaging the neighbours porch so when I ask him if I could salvage anything I could use he said to me that I could have anything I wanted all I had to do was lay the roof and walls on the floor his biggest problem was the owner of the house didn't want bad relations with the neighbours and if he damage the porch or called to report it I'm pretty sure the tool you used to open up the wall was a sawsall you might know it as a resiprocating saw maybe where you are at they did not sell it until the rest of the competition came out since it was a trade mark they couldn't use the name so just called it by how it worked

Hello, I learned 30 years ago from the caretaker of the nature center I worked at that if birds can see their shadow on the glass they won't crash into it. My boss showed me how to get black craft paper and make an outline of a bird in flight about life-size and cut it out and tape to the window at a slight angle to replicate a shadow. You only need a couple of them for the birds to see them and avoid the windows
@novampires2235 ай бұрын
I have noticed that after a few years the birds seem to learn that there is a new obstacle to go around. Once they figure that out they don't fly into them anymore. But the shadow cut outs are a great idea.

Hey Slim, use a yellow highlighter to draw patterns or lines on your window, this will keep birds from striking the window. I used this method over the summer and it has worked excellent. We haven’t had any birds hit our large window and you can barely see any markings from the highlighter. It’s a win win.
