Brandon, In the beginning of the video, with the plane line drawn, you're still swinging on plane as you'll notice your right elbow stays on the plane line. The folding of the right elbow raises the hands above the plane line and then returns the hands and club on the downswing. I think it's best to ignore it altogether because your body will compensate for this on it's own. Actively thinking about it only confuses the player unnecessarily. If we were to draw a truly accurate plane line it would either have a quick curve in it and then join a second plane, or it would be like an inverted conical, and that's just more than anyone needs to think about. I made a video about this years ago but realized it was only confusing people. Finally, the only thing that matters is the orbit of the clubhead, although we shouldn't actively think about that either. We just don't want the clubhead wobbling about as it has to slow down to do that. Think of a weight on a string swinging in a circle ... the string, representing the shaft, would not travel on any sort of plane but rather an inverted conical but the weight IS moving on a plane that only it occupies. The idea of the clubhead and the shaft occupying the same plane throughout the swing is incorrect.

Best explanation on plane and how to load lead arm by swinging trail arm which will cause/lead to shallowing and staying on plane. So much better than simply showing 'impact position' and then saying "get to that' vs do 'this' and it will automatically get you to the proper impact/plane position. I love 'gears data' but give me the right setup that leads to best 'gears data'. Great stuff.

Hey JT. Would you advocate this for irons as well?
@lincolnprojectnemesis32537 ай бұрын
I'm old. I tried this and when I get it right, distance is better and body strain significantly less. Now trusting it in the short time I've been doing it is another thing. For me, this technique holds value, now my functional mind needs to figure out how to embrace it on the course. I like the simplicity of his instruction,

295 carry. Only in my dreams. 200 yards max for me. It's embarrassing, but I'm still past 90% of the golfers I play with. Sad thing is, though I'm 70, I'm athletic and in good shape.

OK this is nuts,just tried using TS softball.1st training aid ive been useless with! But it forced me to use my arms as in this great video! Conclusion,hitting hundreds of balls with towell etc under arms leaves you badly overconnected with poor arm action shown as the fault in this video,whilst a ball between forearms gives you good connection and makes you use your arms better like in this video

This is measured in gears on many pga tour players by AMG. The arms 100% lower to side of body in downswing

@ssubotai Жыл бұрын
I do not know of anyone that claim that the arms stay up in the downswing, there was a discussion how the club was shallowed, if it was with the lowering of the arms. JTT'S left arm seems (judging by these frames) to go almost straight down in the downswing, and not down and out like many other golfers. This can be seen in the frames in second 15 to 16 in this video. You could also claim that JTT's arms are up longer compared to his feet and hips than the average golfer.

@@martynzl Yeah at 118mph. Spin keeps the ball in the air. Golf instruction is actually getting worse. A guy that swings at 88mph with 1500 spin will hit wounded ducks that dont carry 100 yards. A bowed wrist means you need more driver loft. DJ & Rahm both use 10.5 driver lofts. Grip it strong, keep the club face closed would help most club golfers.
@greatwhite3676 Жыл бұрын
@@martynzl Its actually not that complicated for the average player. For the tour pro earning a living, maybe. Somebody with a extremely bowed wrist will deliver less dynamic loft. I used 2 people as an example. The tour average for AOA is -1. I'm not even sure what your point is. People over complicate the game.

I find it rather comical when I see someone trying to mimic a tour pro’s style. First of all, they are not at the level of a tour pro ,neither do they have the training program. Everyone has a different physical makeup so what is right for one is not for another. With proper weight shift, the hands, arms and shoulders follow. Golf becomes easy when the mind is in control and the body is tension free.
