I am not a golfer, I am a baseball instructor/coach that likes to look into movements in other sports to continue to learn and find correlations. One thing we do, that works incredibly well in teaching the top hand in the baseball swing is to work on this exact movement, we will talk to them about skipping a rock across a pond and it clicks. For infielders we will talk about their arm action when feeding for a double play, it is the exact same movement. Loved this video, awesome stuff!

Was reading a book called “One move to better golf.” He talked about Hogans swing and basically said the “one move” is to start the back swing with your left shoulder turning into or toward the left shoulder. It starts the coiling of the upper body correctly. I tried it yesterday and I’ll be damned if my ball striking didn’t improve significantly!! I’m a 51 year old newbie by the way and using Hogans 5 lessons. Your videos have helped tremendously also!! Thanks man!!

Welcome to this greatest of games, Jeremy!! There's a lot of great information in that "Five Lessons" book, but there have also been many misinterpretations that have led numerous golfers - and their ball flight - astray. I do my best to take what Mr. Hogan conveyed in the book as his "feels", apply it to the reality of what he actually did in his swing, and translate it into something we all can learn well from. Because if we can get Hogan right there are tremendously effective swing keys to be garnered. By the way, due to their popularity I've combined my Hogan lesson videos into a playlist series on this channel. Here's the link if you are interested: kzbin.info/aero/PLV62KxT7Mp7IyNDRp0hZK1F1OScdXx-u1 Thanks for your message, keep up the great work, and - most importantly - have fun out there!! One problem I do have is getting used to hitting the ball harder. Having Never hit turf before,( I’m 75), always trying to hit clean! , hitting ball/turf is hard to get used to. But I LOVE the more rounded swing- it feels flat to start with, but Much better after a few shots. Thanks Tom. Really enjoying your vids. I’m trying to get my 2 brothers to try it too, but at 80, they are loath to try!!!😂😂

Excellent description and demonstration Tom of Hogan's Sling Drill! About a year or so ago, I started paying more attention to the key role that the folded right arm has in the golf swing. The folding and unfolding of a tucked in right arm "not down, but toward the target" was a key disclosure for me. It definitely helps to eliminate chunk-e-cheeses!" Well Done As Always Tom! Ok Tom, I finally decided to order the precision impact trainer with the $40 discount. I have been following your videos for about a year and was totally happy with my swing and compression contact. However!!!! Using this training aid takes this to a new level. I thought I was hands forward compressing the ball. I was close but this training aid really set things right. The sound of hitting a fully cooked crispy kfc shot is an amazing sound. Unbelievably, I have added about 7/10 yards per club. I highly recommend this training aid, I would even go as far as to say it should be a mandatory part of your teaching. Thank you Tom!!!!

What really convinced me your teachings work...using my dominant/trail hand to control my swing, start to finish. I fought so long trying to keep my lead arm straight...when all it took was a few hours playing with just my trail hand and the left arm naturally got straight. This is another awesome lesson. I've did this drill after reading Ben Hogan's Five lessons. It's an amazing drill that does wonders in your swing. I did this drill just taking the club back to my hips with my trail arm staying attached. Every ball was dead straight and the distance was so very surprising. I played 18 holes only taking the club to my hips and slinging and I actually did about like I usually do, except always dead straight. Doing this with the full swing, I used a lot less energy. I have learned so much from Tom Saguto in his online course and videos that golf is so much fun now!! This is a game that without studying the proper techniques that Tom shows in his course, I don't think I could have ever put it all together. His online course gives you more ammo than you can use, you just have to apply those principles as you go in his course and it all comes together.

@SagutoGolf 7 ай бұрын
Yes!! No need for - or benefit to - micromanaging the swing with the hands and wrists, Mike. In fact, with regard to this erroneous notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The forearms will naturally "trade places" from pre- to post-impact, but this should not be construed as a contrived move (although many a casual observer has gone down that rabbit hole). There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands/wrists through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration. While there are certainly other videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks for your validating remarks and keep it crispy out there!! Tom, another Great video, especially the difference between sling versus twisting the wrists. I have the Precision Impact Trainer, which seems to make sense to impact. Tom is very busy, so just trying to help. The swing is the same for every club, so basically nothing changes from club to club other than the length of the shaft, which then changes the angle of the swing plane. If you take your favorite pro golfer, and watch them swing in slow motion from the back, you will see this difference wedge to wood.

Tom. Only recently found your videos. I’ve seen a coach many times and spent untold amounts and it did help BUT I was stuck in the mid to upper 80’s. Irons were inconsistent and I had no confidence I’d even hit the green from 150-190. Your teaching methods and simple ball striking drills are second to none. I’ve only practiced swing and one range day. I’m hitting it straighter and farther! Now I have to readjust my club selection, ha! My 9 iron is carrying 150 yds! You have a new monthly subscriber! Thanks so much. Oh yeah. That crispy sound off my irons, never heard that before until now. Love it!!!!

Thanks for another great video. Regarding the right upper arm. You demonstrate how you glue it to your right side. However in your full swing it appears that it's not quite as tight to the body. I find that when I keep it really tight (in order to create a consistent swing) it creates other problems. Would you say that it's possible to have it too glued to the side of the body?
@SagutoGolf

I'm glad you enjoyed it! It is certainly acceptable to have a few inches of space between the trail elbow and the torso at the top, just like I have in my swing. The key is that the arm has not lost its "tucked" orientation and the elbow is definitely not flying away, meaning that it is in perfect position to reconnect in the downswing. "Gluing" it in there is a "feel" that is necessary for most amateurs to achieve this desired action - at least until they have properly ingrained it. I learned from your videos to simplfy the swing. Weight more forward was a big change. After that i was able to figure out why i was pulling and/or snap hooking. It was what you called screwdriving. And i was able to focus on not turning my forearms and wrists over. Results: straighter shots and center of clubface contact. This video, perfectly, demonstrates what i was able to figure out after taking to task two concepts. I'm glad your presentation was not typical, (which was probably why i kept watching). Over-produced presentations with many of short clips pasted together or super high tech swing labs are not my level. I'm more of a command-line first operator. A stick, a ball and the green & blue expanse. Some easy-going comraderie would be the sauce on the smoked ribs. Not necessary but if its good -tee it up.

Been learning this related baseball sidearm move (second base throw), or opposite hand frisbee (for those who used to throw a lot of different ways with frisbee) move, or slap shot move for the golf club lately. Or as you mention here the rock skipping throw and it works to get to the correct impact position for golf. Still need to keep the tilt though through impact, which I'm still slightly standing up with my torso and not getting to full extension position past the ball. Baby steps. I have one of the precisian wrist impact trainers. When I 1st used it and filmed myself I noticed I could still flip my wrist badly. I recently found that if I concentrate on my front wrist bending into position on the back and also keeping it bent during impact I won't flip as often after impact. Still needs some work to keep extension full with a natural follow through. I should say that I'm a member of Saguto golf school. I just wish you would have an membership fee to analyze our swings individually like some others do. That would really help out a lot more to make the right corrections. Your instructional videos are great, but it takes the right knowledge to view your own swing and see the needed improvements to make.

@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 7 ай бұрын
I appreciate that, Raymond, and I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you. hope it performs well when you put it into practice! Indeed, with regard to this notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration. Thanks for your message! Hey Tom what do you recommend the lead arm does or feels like ? I saw another comment say to focus primarily on train arm for better impact. should I not think about lead arm and just try to keep it straight ?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Ай бұрын
The lead arm is the radius of our swing circle, and as such if we desire ball striking consistency we should endeavor to preserve our radius from address to post-impact. Our lead arm should hang down relatively straight without any "forcing" at address. From there, as long as we have a proper setup which is supportive of an unrestricted motion we ought to be able to maintain the same level of straightness that we started with. This is not difficult to accomplish as long as we don't try to take it back beyond our body’s natural stopping point. It all begins with a good setup that facilitates an effortless 45 degrees of hip turn. From there all we need is another 45 degrees of shoulder turn to get to the full 90. If any of those turns are restricted by an improper setup, then the lead arm will fight the stymied torso and have a good chance of breaking down. As for the trail arm, it will fold to 90 degrees in the backswing and both wrists will hinge as a result, but as long as we keep our connections and arm structure intact these actions should occur naturally as if on autopilot and ought not have to be forced or consciously manufactured. In more general terms, I do my best to convey multiple “feels” or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. As such, it is important to understand that the lessons on this channel - while fully aligned with the swing method I teach - address a variety of topics, issues, feels, and/or common flaws/fixes from one episode to the next. They are certainly not intended to be taken as a comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform like the structured curriculum of my online school, which I strongly recommend to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my KZbin content. The lessons and drills provide the guidelines and set the boundaries, while allowing ample leeway for each individual golfer to infuse and exercise their own uniqueness. Thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of the school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Actually, I play with a more neutral grip. What you are referring to is more of a function of the external rotation of the trail arm and retraction of the trail shoulder, both of which should happen naturally if we establish and maintain the proper connections and execute a full shoulder turn. For example, here is an episode from my channel's archives related to the "tucked" trail arm: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGW5gJWcot5mb8k And while I certainly have other videos that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the structured learning method that has countless thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom Saguto, PGA

I sincerely appreciate your kind words, Jeff, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. Ideally we should simply "allow" the hand/wrist/arm actions to happen without forcing anything. If we have a secure grip, pre-establish the connections properly in the setup, and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct positions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. And while I certainly have other videos that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Thanks again for your message and support! The sling motion makes sense however what would you say to a newby golf lady that uses both left and right hands, I've learned with right handed clubs, but my throwing hand is my left hand, the sling has made me confused and what's best I write eith my left hand but was forced to do many things right handed growing up, any advice would be helpful
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 6 ай бұрын
Well, Misti, if your left hand is your dominant one, then short of saying that you need to train your trail hand to hit - which I realize may be difficult - I would recommend you work on maintaining your connections and allowing the big muscles to bring you into impact. In other words, if we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. One of the keys in your situation is to not allow that strong arm - which probably seems to have a mind of its own in anxiously wanting to take over - to jump ahead of the lower body and throw the entire downswing out of sequence, because if it does you're likely taking regular trips to Pull-Slice City. If you can train it instead to be a "slave" to the big muscles to the point where the shaft is parallel to the ground on the way down, then you should be in position to hit hard with the dominant hand as if it were a tennis backhand shot or throwing a frisbee. While there are certainly numerous videos on my channel that address the topics of a body-driven swing and various downswing feels, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

What I do on a daily basis is swing an old 6 iron with just my trail arm to whack weeds in my back yard. What that teaches better than the ball toss drill is how to time and control the release of the trail foot and side bending of the spine to shallow the path of the club and hit a precise spot on the ground with it. If the back foot doesn’t lift the hips don’t release and the club gets stuck elbow over trail hip and the club head flips and hits behind the target. If the back foot comes up too soon or too rapidly the hips and hands get too far ahead and the target is missed or miss hit. Unlike the ball drill the weight and leverage of he club when swung with just the trail hand with progressively increasing side bend automatically forces the trail elbow down and externally rotates the arm. It teaches one how to use the kinetic energy of the club to steer the hands instead of trying (in vain) to steer the club with the hands, the mistake most beginners make.

Hey Tom, love your videos, and big fan of yours for a long time. My question is, I went to the range today and practiced your technique of short shots pushing club and holding it straight out in front of me. Hit it super crispy doing this, so i love it. Here's my problem, though, and I dont know how to fix it. Your swing is 3/4 back, and follow through is, let's say half to 3/4 through, so this promotes a lower trajectory for me on all my clubs. Am i doing something wrong? It's very difficult hitting driver this way and keeping my weight forward. I've always hit solid drives and was taught to sit on my right side and come forward with the driver. Basically to stand up and clear the hips out of the way

To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWHbpJaDrrNmrJo Mine is not a 3/4 backswing! We don't need to force ourselves to get to "parallel" with this swing, and fighting our body in an attempt to do so can result in a variety of issues. If we execute this swing properly we will have created width and plenty of distance for that club to travel by taking it in deep, and that enables us to then harness the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". Additionally, because the ideal downswing path is the ideal downswing path regardless of how we take the club back, there should not be any issue with trajectory if the swing is correctly executed and your equipment is well-matched to you. In fact, we can flight the ball as high as we wish in this system. Should you _really_ like to get on the fast track towards properly learning this swing system in a comprehensive, sequential platform, please consider my online school. @johnyi1636 - I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you! With regard to those chunks, consider the following possibilities: 1) Ball position is too far forward, 2) Hands are too far back at address (they should be in line with the inside of your lead thigh), 3) The swing center and low point are drifting backwards at some point during the motion (face-on video will help you determine this), 4) The downswing is steep and/or the path is out-to-in, 5) Early extension of the trail arm during the downswing (also known as "casting"), 6) Flipping/scooping through the zone, 7) Loss of relationship with the ball (shoulder angle flattening, loss of tilt). Though not an exhaustive list, those are the primary causes of fats, thins, and tops. By the way, always begin with the setup - in this case the first two possibilities - prior to diving into a swing intervention. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address the various causes, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Beyond that, the Precision Impact that I demonstrated in this video is an excellent training aid that will help you to neutralize the cause and overcome your issue and crisp up your ball striking. @SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 7 ай бұрын
Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it! I choose to "stay in my lane" when it comes to other lesson content out there. That's certainly not a slap against any other methodologies; it's simply that the system I teach is rooted in physics and geometry, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. Having said that, with regard to this notion that we need to affect some type of active hand-rolling “release", given the inability of most folks to spend sufficient time at the range to lock in the required exactness of such an action this misguided thought has led countless golfers astray. It's not something that even the vast majority of pros are trying to consciously manufacture during the split second that the clubhead is traveling a distance of approximately 6' from parallel to parallel at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The forearms will naturally "trade places" from pre- to post-impact as demonstrated in this video, but this should not be construed as a contrived move (although many a casual observer has gone down that rabbit hole). There really ought not be any active manipulation of the hands through the zone and attempts to precisely time any such rolling or flipping - which does nothing for swing speed - have relegated many an amateur to the vast abyss of inconsistency and frustration. While there are certainly other videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

I appreciate that, and I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated and connected those dots for you! You're absolutely correct. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. I don't believe I said anything about manipulating the face during the takeaway. We are tucking the trail arm as I routinely teach and allowing it to externally rotate in response to that connection point and the correct shoulder action. The hands/clubface remain quiet and simply react to the motion. Serious question…how do I hit it straight? I’m hitting big old crispy draws and it’s all I can do now.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 6 ай бұрын
I'm very glad to learn of your crispiness, Lewis - nice job!! Regarding those "pesky" draws - which most amateur golfers would kill for 😎 - the ball is simply responding to the flight plan assigned to it by the clubface at impact, aka "ball flight laws". Clubface angle relative to target line is the primary influencer of the ball's starting line and face relative to path determines direction and degree of curvature. From there we can then do some reverse engineering to tweak our shot shape. Typically, when this swing is working properly it only requires some minor setup adjustments to move the ball one way or the other on-demand. For example, here is a shot shaping demonstration featuring a fellow teaching pro when we were attending Instructor Camp together in Miami: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5TQfKucgd9se68 By the way, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to diagnosing and resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step, position-by-position from setup to finish. Thousands of folks across the globe are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. At just $14.99/month or $149.99 per year the value in terms of what you get for that price point is beyond comprehension, and based on proven results it represents by far the best golf instruction deal on the planet. I noticed that you had an open stance. Is that just a feel thing or possibly club heads speed?
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 7 ай бұрын
Hi John, If by "open" you mean that my stance line is not parallel to the target line, then the camera angle is deceiving you. If, on the other hand, you are referring to my outwardly flared feet, this is done purposefully as it facilitates the proper amount of body-friendly, free-flowing hip turn back and through. This is a major power move that also keeps the club traveling on the correct path. If you were to square your feet so that they were perpendicular to the target line, then your hips would be impeded from turning sufficiently in the backswing (which would then inhibit the shoulders from executing a full and effortless turn), and from releasing properly in the downswing to propel the club through the zone. Restricting this action can cause a variety of path issues and/or also place strain on the lead knee and the hip joints as the hips will "want" to move laterally and turn through into the finish but will be fighting the body in the process. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

Man so i've really been topping the ball a lot lately. Did this drill and was hitting the ball very straight and consistently 1 handed. However, once i incorporated my lead hand and arm back into my swing i went right back to topping it and i have no idea what im doing with my left arm (lead) to cause this.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 5 ай бұрын
Consider the following possibilities, Evan: 1) Ball position is too far forward, 2) Hands are too far back at address (they should be in line with the inside of your lead thigh), 3) The swing center and low point are drifting backwards at some point during the motion (face-on video will help you determine this), 4) The downswing is steep and/or the path is out-to-in, 5) Early extension of the trail arm during the downswing (also known as "casting"), 6) Flipping/scooping through the zone, 7) Loss of relationship with the ball (shoulder angle flattening, loss of tilt). Though not an exhaustive list, those are the primary causes of fats, thins, and tops. By the way, always begin with the setup - in this case the first two possibilities - prior to diving into a swing intervention. And while there are certainly videos on my channel that address these various issues, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Beyond that, the Precision Impact that I’ve demonstrated in various lesson videos including this one - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nofbhYZ5g7elpdE - is an excellent training aid that will help you to neutralize the cause and overcome this issue. Hi Matthew, The action described and demonstrated in this video powerfully returns the face to its preestablished position at setup. @SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 7 ай бұрын
Ahh.... the old hand-to-hand combat.....😎 If you can do this properly with the trail hand, then I would keep drilling the trail hand only until it becomes second nature. Then alternate hitting shots between trail hand only and both hands, continuing to emphasize the trail hand only "feel" when both hands are on the club. Lather, rinse, repeat until such time that you have "broken the spirit" of that "corruptive" lead hand. If that doesn't work for you, then I would refocus on tucking that trail arm. For example, here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jGW5gJWcot5mb8k Finally, the Precision Impact that I demonstrated in this video is an excellent training aid that will help you to neutralize this issue and crisp up your contact. If properly deployed as demonstrated here, the trail arm can provide a substantial amount of force without adversely affecting shot shape. This is what Mr. Hogan meant when he famously quipped that if he started the downswing properly he wished he'd had three right hands to power the strike. This is awesome and works, but you may want to explain your clubface is never flashing open as you’re externally rotating your right arm
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 6 ай бұрын
I appreciate that, Andy! To be clear, we are not rolling the face open, and as such it remains square throughout the motion. The "external rotation" of the trail arm is what keeps the swing on plane and puts us in great position for a properly shallowed and powerful downswing. The hands and wrists simply react without forcing anything.

That aside, this body-friendly, powerful, low-maintenance swing system is rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and it is modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. As such it does not discriminate by age or ability - from kids to seniors and everyone in between, inclusive of the best players in the world, and yes - super elite, next level, top-notch superior, alpha male athletes as well. 😎 Thousands of folks across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players - are now enjoying the best golf of their lives as a result of learning this swing system through my online school, and their unsolicited testimonials tell the story quite well: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. Compare and contrast that with the sad reality that despite all the advances in equipment, technology, golf course grooming, etc. the average golfer still struggles to break 100. Epic failures within the realm of “conventional” instruction, perhaps??? So many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings - such as taking the club straight back, turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the arms, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, firing the hips, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of inconsistency and chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). Thanks for your validating remarks and keep on flushing it! 💪💪 Tom

More thinking outloud from me: 2things. Micro-hesitations. So swing thoughts cause micro-hesitations and disturb the rhythm of my swing. Even a single swing thought can do this. So I'm working on maintaining rhythm regardless of the adjustment I've added. I've found that I can't test-out a good tip or swing thought if I don't run it through my swing with a good rhythm. If I don't test a good tip using a good rhythm I'll never know if it's working or not. So eliminating micro-hesitations. 2nd, I've never seen Tom use the Hogan waggle before his takeaway. Hogan didn't insist on it, but I'm curious, what is the trigger that starts Tom's takeaway.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 6 ай бұрын
With regard to rhythm, there are at least a couple of things at play: 1) Discovering and dialing in our ideal swing tempo, and 2) Feeling that transition - or the change in direction - so we don't rush our downswing from the top and thereby lose our sequencing (a very common affliction within the amateur golfing realm). Our perfect tempo/rhythm - which is unique to each of us individually - enables us to gather and unload the various components in proper order for seemingly effortless, powerful ball striking bliss. My own personal "feels" are not relevant to you because they are unique to me. 😎 Beyond that, they do change quite regularly as I'm always thinking about new possibilities for my lesson content. (Although as long as my setup is good and I've pre-established the necessary connections, I can trust that no matter my "trigger du jour", it's going to get me moving properly into the takeaway and backswing.) This is why I do my best to convey multiple feels or thoughts throughout the swing wherever possible. We're all different physiologically and psychologically, and something that resonates effectively with one golfer may not necessarily work for another. However, no matter the variety of suggested feels/thoughts offered for a particular element of the swing, they are all directed at getting different golfers to achieve the desired positions, motions, and ball striking results. That is one reason why the comprehensive, step-by-step, position-by-position learning platform of my online school is so effective, and as such I strongly recommend it to anyone who truly wishes to get on the proper path towards owning this swing as it will make for a far more efficient and enjoyable learning process rather than haphazardly trying to piece things together through my KZbin content. I grew up on a lake in Michigan and I would skip stones for hours... one part of this idea that I have developed over the years with my students is that you pick the flattist stone you can find and put your forefinger on the edge of the stone and spin it horizontally to get the most skips. That's the snap/flip you want in your pronation. Now go flip skip a stone...for real.
