Btw many thanks for that video. It was an eye opener for my athleticc motion. I am right handed and so i did not activate the left half of my body. Thats why i got stuck and had a hard time to turn right. Now with that slingshot motion, my left side is the leader, which made me swing finally right on the plane with lots more clubheadspeed. I am hitting bombs now. My shaft is 90 degree to my spine and all is in sync now. I believe i found the secret of the golfswing...thanks alot. Merryy Xmas and stay healthy.

Great video! I happened upon this video right after practicing what you are explaining. Because of my bad back I was hitting shots wildly to the right. I practiced holding the club loosely on the backswing with my right hand, then on impact letting go of the club with my right hand. I was able to release the club with a good finish in rhythm. This video just re-enforced that what I was practicing is right.

Good video. One thing Ive learned only recently to help to sling the lead arm is to make sure that your backswing is positioned more around mid back...too many people including myself take a backswing thats about shoulder height and losing a lot of power and tougher to do what Milo is demonstrating here. With backswing more at mid back 0r at least feeling like mid back, the sling of lead arm feels very natural.

Thoughts of Frisbee throwing have in the past produced some of my longest drives! But thanks to Milo and left side bend I am using my left side earlier and better.I am loading and releasing my left side target side of the ball rather than moving my left side behind it, if that makes sense. Your nephew has got a weird snare / bass drum approach 😀. Love your stuff Milo. So helpful. The nuance between left and right arm action is really intriguing. “As my left arm adducts my right arm is not actually falling further behind me” More subtle than just ‘relaxed arms’. Am interested in any more you have on this, as I sense the truth of it but can’t quite get there. Huge fan, and thanks for posting all your videos. The truth is out there!

I had surgery to repair a damaged thumb tendon on my left hand earlier in March. I swing left handed in golf but I'm actually right handed. Being a golf nut I can't help but try to keep my game sharp. Two weeks after surgery I began to hit my sand wedge using only my lead (right) arm. At first I shanked a few. But then I began to hit some decent shots. After a week I was able to lightly grip the club with my left hand too. But in order to keep from injuring it, I would let go of the grip with my left hand before impact and sling my right arm through. I'm able to hit really good shots this way some flying 70-75 yards with my 54 degree.

I would like a video of the complete function of the right arm through the swing. Also, I recently seen a video that stated you want to keep your left arm extending into the follow through as long as possible. Is that true for all swings or just more upright swings? I didnt think you should hold off the folding of the left arm. It also stated the left hand should hold off folding as well. Maybe this is for more of a rotational release. There is so many different things taught, and they never state what kind of swing or release its aimed at.

If this was in response to my Instagram comment the other day, thanks so much for this. This helps a lot! I’ve been getting the feel you describe in transition but Feeling the separation at the end and “slinging” is something I hadn’t thought about and might be key to helping me get the right release feel. Is the “slinging” feel the same as the “towing” feel that I’ve heard you talk about before? Thanks again, would love to take a lesson in person some day.

Excellent explanation Milo! My swing thought now is: left shoulder peels off the chin at the same time with the hips clearing (although we know the hips initiate first). I used to suffer from hooking and noticed that head was chasing the shoulder not allowing separation of shoulder from chin and arm from body (so I had to flip it to get to the ball).

This drill is great especially for people who are right hand dominant like me. Ive always struggled with "hitting" at the ball which causes early extension, bad tempo and loss of swing speed. The frisbee motion feels like Im swinging thru the ball. When performed correctly I feel weight shit, balance and more athletic motion. My grip pressure I have to keep in check to allow for release. Im a work in progress. Thanks for the swing tboughts!

Great video as usual Milo! With a strong grip will your hand feel like it would be in the same attitude as it would be for a frisbee throw. I have a strong grip and find the hand/ arm is desperate to turn over/ supinate. Should the back of the left hand face the sky or the target at impact and just beyond? Also i was wondering if you could maybe do a video on the geometry of how you maintain a rotational swing/feel with the shorter clubs which by their nature are more upright?
@larrybeavens75804 жыл бұрын
Great video, Milo! As a feeling, do you consider that flinging of the left arm by the body to be the primary power source of the golf swing? A lot of teachers say to throw the club at the ball with the trail hand, but that doesn’t work for me even though I’m right-hand dominant. I’m 75 now and have played the game for 60+ years, and I’ve always played my best golf with the feeling that it’s a left-handed backhand powered (whipped through impact) by my body rotation. If I let my dominant right side take over, I get into big trouble. What are your thoughts?
@dseveno82542 жыл бұрын
The interesting takeaway for me is that you were able to be very accurate when you threw that club down the fairway. It went straight down the target line. What do you think the odds of the club slinging out to the left or right would have been if your hips had stalled and you were releasing the club with no pivot?
@kcd26304 жыл бұрын
Great Video... I have just subscribed to your channel.. I was alway told the right is the power source... And the left Arm is there for the ride... Is this your view as well

If I get positive results focusing on the arms and hand path is that safe to stick with or will problems develop that I should watch out for? Whenever I focus on any lower half drills slash lower rotational drills I hozzle shank a lot! Anything I try to from your other vids to make sure the lower half is moving has been bad. Obviously it’s a disconnect on my end because the vids are great but still curious if I can just move forward without focusing on the lower portion at all. I feel my set up is good and play pretty good in the high 70s focusing on arm motions. The high 70s is a 6 stroke improvement from your videos 👍

@Boovda4 жыл бұрын
@@natsoti6268 I did try left handed last year but it was a terrible failure. I think I just need to prioritise my left side for feels with movement. Biggest one for me is working out how to rotate as the movement doesn't come naturally when you play crack-handed.

Milo - I had a full replacement of my right shoulder (12 years ago) that is starting to give me issues. I have developed a swing that allows me to still play (and enjoy) the game but it requires me to release the right hand from the club just after impact (very similar to your drill). I am going to play like this for the rest of my days on the course. I hit the ball very solid (better then with two hands) but my miss is a pull hook. Your video is one of the few that highlight the release of the club as a drill - looking for any advice for someone that has to use this strategy all the time. Any ideas would be appreciated on how to eliminate my pull/hook. Thanks

I noticed in your intro you have a clip where you are hitting the ball at the camera. In that clip you can clearly see your left elbow is pointing at the target at impact. This was recent discussion on the golf channel when they talked about Bryson’s swing changes that allowed him to control all the power by eliminating the left side of the course with this move. Can you do a clip on that to go into a deeper dive on the topic?

Milo, only "discovered" you a week or two ago. In shape 73 year old in SoCal. Tried to combine some thoughts from different videos and was working on the idea of lagging the clubhead behind the hands with the hands moving left and up while clubhead lagged down and out to ball. My thinking of this helped me out a lot today, but, while I usually out drive my group of 70 somethings, as I did again today, video taken shows the same bad impact and beyond position, that of both arms collapsed at the elbows, even with the release up and around with the hands. Neither arm extends, and the right arm for sure never looks like yours or other good golfers in terms of post impact extension. I see the bad. I cannot figure out how to fix it. I have NEVER seen a video of mine with extended either arm 3 feet or so post impact. I basically muscle the ball out there about 220 with zero extension to speak of. Any ideas about what I should be thinking about?

Always appreciate topics on the left arm and the sling to help keep things fluid and not position bound. 99% lessons are on R arm and "positions". Though I must challenge the claim of left arm coming off at impact and what looks like losing connection. Best strikers old school snead to modern DJ, their pit pec squeeze at impact and post impact is there even while L forearms does come away. Not like the example pic in your photo.

If you generate more speed by slinging the lead arm, then why shouldn't most right handed people play with their right arm as their lead arm? I'm right handed and playing tennis, have a pretty powerful single-handed backhand stroke. If I tried to play tennis left handed, my (left hand) backhand would be much less effective. Likewise, if I throw a frisbee, as a right handed person it makes more sense and goes further if I throw with a right handed backhand motion.
@MiloLinesGolf2 жыл бұрын
It can be done but generally players move better when the trail hand is their dominant hand. It’s still a two handed game and the trail hand has a big roll as well.
