Glad that was a quick fix. If that were me I’d be thinking it was something I did.

I’m pretty confident in my work being done properly, but I’m not going to lie... i was second guessing myself on this one for a minute. I took an unreasonable amount of measurements to double check and the issue ended up not being my fault, and reasonably easy to fix too

@@EvanBrunye Oh - I definitely don't question the work you were doing. I'm hoping to achieve at least 1/2 the level of attention you were putting into things once I'm underway. You're definitely providing a benchmark for builds here. :)

@@ibgarrett Thanks man. When are you starting your build? The video build manual series will be on Sling’s official channel soon so that will help you a lot, those are a whole next level in build advice

@@EvanBrunye Well, I pinged Barry a couple of weeks ago about the status of the order. He said he was checking, but I haven't heard back. I think between Covid and the 3 week holiday break in S. Africa I'm not going to see it here until January/Feb. I moved one of my TV's to the garage wall so I can have a good screen to watch the build on while I'm building. I'm working on getting some vlogs built to do an "Evan" on my build. ;) Not sure if the link reference on my name takes you to my KZbin page, but I've got some older oshkosh fly-in videos up there now.

@@ibgarrett nice man. Sometimes Perry is a little quicker to find the kit status than Barry, I’m pretty sure he’s in charge of shipping and the warehouse and all that. I’ll take a look at the videos for sure, looking forward to seeing your build progress

Dude, you casually mentioned you cut off part of your stabilizer and I had to rewatch to make sure I didn't misunderstand. I would have been crying in my shower had something like this happened to me. You have 100% control over this machine, you will do fantastic. I am very excited about you.
@EvanBrunye4 жыл бұрын
It’s just the trailing edge of the skin that hangs past the spar channel. Nothing structural was cut or I’d be crying in the shower too lol. Thanks man

Great it looks sooo pretty. Cant wait to see it in the air.

I remember (now) other early builders saying they had empennage skins that were not cut to the right size and had to trim.. sorry didn’t think of it earlier but glad you found the solution. I didn’t notice this earlier, but I really like that you painted the “A” and “B” pillars (guess I’ll call it that) between the front and back windows, to give it a wrap-around look. I’m planning to do that too. Kinda reminds me of an A350 cockpit 😬

Thanks for the input on other builders with the same issue, kind of makes me feel more comfortable with the fact it happened to me as well. Thanks man that was a big must for me with the paint job, I’ve seen it a lot on RVs and I think it really adds a great aesthetic with a sort of faux wrap around window look

How did you get a straight cut? Are you going to take it up on the 1st flight? Looks Awesome!!!

I just masked and marked it and cut it off with an angle grinder. Then spent a few hours deburring and filing it to be perfect. No big deal. First flight will be... idk. Eventually hopefully lol

I had to run out to find a ruler to find out how small is 6mm. That's tiny!

It’s about 1/4”. Definitely small, but also enough to cause the interference

Hey Evan - Do you have exact measurements from the end channel to the edge of the skin? I am concerned that mine might be the same and I would rather address it before I mount it.
@EvanBrunye4 жыл бұрын
It should be 13mm from the back of the rivets on the ends to the edge of the skin
@Top10VideosOnTheWeb4 жыл бұрын
@@EvanBrunye So it is a consistent distance from the back of the rivets? I was looking at mine yesterday and it looks like it gets wider as it nears the outside edges on both sides. I may be in your situation too. How did you do the trimming?
@EvanBrunye4 жыл бұрын
@@Top10VideosOnTheWeb just measure the farthest outside rivet on both sides. If it's 13mm you're fine. At the far inside the skin should only overhang the rear channel by about 1-2mm. Unless your kit is one of the very early ones like mine was, you've got about 99% chance you're fine
