@@DS-vy5ph there are several people signed on currently for build-assist projects built to similar specs. Their all-in cost will be around $310-320k. Hey Evan, nice video and good to see you posting again. Can't wait to follow your HW build. Are you concerned about not having the external alternator? This is excellent innovation! Two questions: 1) Why did you choose an engine driven compressor instead of electrically driven? 2) what is the gph hit without the compressor engaged?
@EvanBrunye8 ай бұрын
Thanks. 1- I considered it. Comes down to- no system is 100% efficient, so I wanted to avoid stacking inefficiencies. Electric compressors have a massive amp draw. 2- with ac off we weren’t seeing any noticeable difference in performance. Possible there was some performance loss, but not outside of a typical knot or two variation that always happens anyway
@DanFrederiksen8 ай бұрын
Nice work but planes shouldn't be kits. It's cuban conditions. Imagine getting a volkswagen in pieces and you had to spend 2000 hours building it yet still pay full price for it because the factory couldn't be bothered to get it certified. Are you familiar with Gogetair?
@EvanBrunye8 ай бұрын
You can buy planes that aren’t kits , if that’s what you prefer. Go get air looks like a cool plane, but here’s the thing… It’s a KIT 😂 If you want the 2+2 it’s experimental, which means to get one in the US you’d have to do some sort of build assist with them. Which is exactly what these people are doing. Otherwise it’s just another 2 seat lsa…
@DanFrederiksen8 ай бұрын
@@EvanBrunye there are no spaces in the name. and it's not a kit, just not certified in usa, they are maybe waiting for mosaic
@EllipsisAircraft7 ай бұрын
Kits allow certification under experimental category. This means you can remain flying instead of disassembling the entire airplane every year for annual "inspection" (regardless of how many hours it flew, even zero since overhaul this $5,000 maintenance catastrophe is mandated on every aircraft owner by FAA law).
@DanFrederiksen7 ай бұрын
@@EllipsisAircraft As I recall it's not that expensive if the plane works. Also you can just register it as experimental after it is factory made.
@EllipsisAircraft7 ай бұрын
@@DanFrederiksen no you cant register a factory airplane as an experimental. Not unless it has experimental features. Then you are limited to test flying under conditions dictated by the FAA to test that feature. That is all. To fly it like a personal airplane while being experimental requires meeting "the 51% rule". I don't think you cognitively grasp the cost of factory certified airplanes. New 2024 Cessna 172 Skyhawks start at $400,000 base price.
