She flies. Ignore the ugly traffic pattern, that doesn’t count.

Never flown a TSi, but my experience with the Sling-2 are consistent with your experience - various electronic glitches and faults. Lane light came on once, too. For flaps I'd do what PiperSport does - a rocker switch with no positional sensor at all, just mechanical end-cutoff switches - won't let you burn the motor or stress parts trying to extend flaps past mechanical limits, or retract past fully retracted. Flap position indication by looking over your shoulder. And knowing that flaps extend and retract at about 7 deg/sec you can roughly tell their position by how long you've held the rocker switch down. No sensors required whatsoever

You built a beautiful aircraft. Congratulations on the first (and second) flights. I'll be eager to see your explanation of the flap and lane issues. I wonder if there's a bind somewhere in the flap system in a way that aerodynamic load while flying creates a situation where the resistance to movement exceeds the tolerance of the system. I'm sure you'll get it figured out.

Hooray! Glad to see this great milestone achieved, congrats! On your flaps warning, I would guess maybe a current limiter is being tripped? The flaps motor is rated for 2.6A at full load if I recall correctly. On the engine fault, have you bought the BUDS software to read out the ECU? I’m planning to get a license even though it’s pricey.
@EvanBrunye3 жыл бұрын
After looking into the error code from vpx, it says that code is caused by “both switches being held for more than 3 seconds”. It never trips while I’m taxiing, and about 20 seconds into flight it trips. Annoying problem indeed. It’s not a current limiter, that would throw a different fault I think. I’ve even tried moving the flaps with someone holding them back to simulate wind resistance in flight. I wasn’t planning on getting the Bud’s software but at this point I definitely see why people do it!

Great no flaps landing. A squeaker!
@johnnelson68183 жыл бұрын
You should be able to fly at Vs ( no flaps, bottom of the green arc) which is usually only a few knots faster than Vso. Takes a little longer to slow it down and will have a higher AOA . Good job though, most people don’t practice no flap landings enough or at all!
@EvanBrunye3 жыл бұрын
I’m part of the crew that doesn’t practice no flaps landings lol. But the plane flies nice I just kept 80kts on approach and slowed to 70 by the numbers and flew the rest by feel

Congratulations!!! - I am sure you are thrilled to be at this milestone. Is the flap fault due to the increase in amps to deploy the flaps during flight? not sure if your flaps are controlled by your Vertical power controller, just a thought.
@EvanBrunye3 жыл бұрын
The flap fault actually happens after I retract the flaps, during normal flight. It is through the vpx, maybe an intermittent position sensor connection

144,000 to 166, 000 for the quick build kit, as per the US distributor.

That was Mojo's price... But he had it build for him.
@thesearcherman66523 жыл бұрын
@@flexairz- I do not disagree with you. But, I went and looked up a price and it said $280k. Must have been the built price. Hard not to go for a Van’s RV with a Lycoming for 1/2 or less. I would guess one could also find a cherry Cessna 210P for less than $300k, or even a 310P.
@ericlaw24163 жыл бұрын
@@thesearcherman6652 That's definitely not the slow-build price. A few months back I did my own back of the envelope price comparison between the RV10 and Sling Tsi. Going apples to apples on the add-on costs such as avionics package, the price was really about the same. Your real differentiators are build time, features and operating cost. Actually I think Evan did a side by side comparison of his own a while back somewhere in his videos.
@thesearcherman66523 жыл бұрын
@@ericlaw2416- Thanks. The Sling is very nice. But, an RV with a 150-160 HP Lycoming and CS prop for the same money would be tough to walk away from. The Sling TSi does get up and go however, and I guess has the parachute. Thanks again.
