Evan, your building hacks and improvements are amazing. I've watched other Sling build videos and you are definitely building a superior airplane. I hope you are still doing build assists in a couple of years, when I hope to get a Sling.

This video is my introduction to you and your airplane. All I can say is, you have a very enviable setup there, from the high performance powerplant to inflight adjustable propeller to EarthX battery all in a very capable airframe. Seriously happy for you. And thanks for sharing your experience.

Thanks as always, Evan. General builder question for you (or other people watching your videos) - I’ve seen your comments on brakes and fuel lines, and other people’s comments on cabin lighting and other changes they recommend. I am just getting started on the empennage. What’s a good way to keep track of all the recommendations that pop up here and there? White board where I’m building with the notes on them? Evernote? Hand written notes in the Sling drawings?

Whatever works best for you should be great

Decided on Evernote, which is also a good place to put wiring info (which color connects to which color) and what other things still need to get done.

Those are good looking brakes. I was into the Berringer brakes, but these are about 8% of the cost of those. Do you have differential (toe) brakes?
@LifeLatitudes2 жыл бұрын
Hey Evan, thanks for sharing your experience. I have got 3/8 hoses but an old/small fuel selector. Sling is informed and i wait for an answer. What about the boost pump (located in the center console)? It is a small one in my kit. The inner diameter of the fitting is: 0,234 inches. Its is really narrow and seems like an old or small one.
@EvanBrunye2 жыл бұрын
My personal tsi doesn’t have a boost pump, and works fine with some special tweaks. The boost pumps the factory supplies have 1/8”npt fittings, so yours is the correct one

Thanks Evan. Great video. Do you know how much weight your new brakes add vs stock brakes? I’ve got about 50 hours on my TSi. I have the new fuel system spec including the auxiliary fuel pump (that we set up to come on with pump 2). I did all phase 1 in So Cal (warmer than ID). Been up to 12,500’ no fuel pressure problem whatsoever running only on pump 1. Have my O2 system now. Will take it higher soon. Enjoy your flight to Sun n Fun!
@EvanBrunye3 жыл бұрын
They add about 1.5lbs each side, not a big deal and well worth it in my opinion. I’m not a fan of the aux pump, and will be working diligently to come up with a more proper solution
@cyrusn62993 жыл бұрын
You've mentioned in this video, and in a few other places that the fuel lines from the selector forward should be swapped out, but I'm going to be starting to build tanks in a few weeks, would you have swapped out the fittings in the wings as well if you had the chance? Thanks for the video, can't wait to chat at Sun n Fun!

Thanks for sharing. I wonder if you can reduce the taxispeed by feather the airmaster manually to a smaller amount of pitch during taxi operation? I love all your vids 👍🏻 cant wait to get my own one.
@EvanBrunye3 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not. The prop automatically goes to the finest setting at idle because no matter what position you have selected it’s trying to get the engine up above 5400rpm
@marcusconner52513 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the answer I asked the same prior to making it this far down in the comments.
@benthurber5363 Жыл бұрын
@@EvanBrunye How??? You have an Airmaster setup, right? The control should have a manual override switch and you can control the pitch.
@EvanBrunye Жыл бұрын
@@benthurber5363 yeah but there’s a lot more to the prop than that… for this specific situation there are mechanical stops to not allow the blades to go beyond their set point for fine and coarse. They get adjusted but you can only go so far before other concerns are more important.

Quite surprised that a 1/4" tube is insufficient to just let the fuel flow. I mean it only burnds like 10 gph at full throttle? one would think a 1/4" tube would be plenty for that. Esp. considering gasoline flows a bit faster than water.
