I'm not into sports. So for me, Philo is the definite winner. The channel lineup is very subjective. Like you said, Sling won because you're a sports fan. I wouldn't say Philo is targeting a niche audience though. They've got most of the movie channels as well as reality, comedy, TV show channels, news channels and kids channels.

As a fan of adult swim, I was sad to see there’s no Cartoon Network on Philo. Also I hate how they force you to watch ads even if you pause a program and could fast forward through them.

I tried Philo for a week and then Sling. I kept sling (Blue). For $10 more I received Comet, bravo, e, fox, fs1, freeform, fx, fuse, hln, nat geo, nbc, tbs, and tnt. There were more but those are channels my wife or I might watch. So what Philo have that I would be giving up and would I even watch these channels? Fyi (No), lifetime movie network (No), own (no), science (no), sundance (maybe and I could get it with a cheap upgrade), tv land (no), wetv (no). I think I made the right choice and I hope this detailed level of specificity helps.

Im getting rid of Sling because they like playing the advertisments at 40 times the volume and decibles of the program or movie your watching. Thats super annoyong having to mute or turn the volume down all the time. Any of the products that are being advertised get shut out by the consumer from this.

I do like sling's guide better, but since i have an HDTV antenna already, have numerous other opions for news, and don't watch sports, I disagree with your conclusion. From what I have seen (so far) Philo is a better choice. Sling is going to charge you another $15.00 for the extra channels, $5.00 for a small amount of DVR time. (200 hours) At $50, Sling costs twice as much to get something similar as Philo's $25 service. I had Cloud DVR with my service provider which was 500 hours, I was continously deleting programs, I need unlimited, not a mere 200 hours. Considering the Sling Orange is limited to one stream, it seems like that could also cause trouble. Where Philo is not severly limited streaming (only 1 stream) on any of their channels. I would give the green box for channel line up to Philo, green box to Philo for number of streams, and would ignore sound & video quality altogether, because we are comparing value streaming services and not premium streaming services. For a single person, sling might be a better choice, but you add in family demands such as multiple streams and dvr heaven, you are going to want Philo.

If you are able to do it, an OTA tv antenna and Sling Blue are comparable to any other service available.

I’m not a hardcore conventional sports watcher but I do like my pro wrestling which is tnt tbs and USA. I’ve got sling blue plus the 4 xtra package and it’s $55 tax and all. I love it. In the fall I’ll probably add the cbs app for football. Honestly I was paying $230 for Xfinity internet and tv and now I’m paying $100 for internet and $55 for cable so I’m happy.

6:40 The four devices for Sling Orange+Blue are deceiving. If you click the "more info" button, you'll find out that you can stream the channels only included in Blue on three devices and you can stream the channels only included in Orange on one device. The channels included in both can stream on all four devices. Yeah. You really need to break Sling down on three different rows. They're essentially three different plans.

Noted the same thing, while it totals 4 stresms it is 3 for blue and 1 for orange. Misleading. Also , while I like to watch the news, I can listento audio from MSNBC, FOX and CNN on Amazon Alexa via Tune In. Not into sports so I prefer Philo. More channels although I do miss TBS and TNT

Very helpful video, and I agree with your recommendation, really like dvr, spoiled with firecast. Looking to get FoxNews, so Sling Blue looks to work. Know of any other options for FoxNews ?

This is so very hard to choose, I have Philo because it is cheaper with more channels, BUT, Sling had more of my favs like CNN and USA Network, and their layout is better..but, they Sling cost more for less channels..so idk🤔

Like I said before if you are a t mobile customer that use to have tvision you can get Philo for 10 dollars a month better than sling which sucks anyway And you can add onto Philo and still come out better

I tried them all and in my opinion, sling is the best out of ALL of them. I have Orange + Blue with the sports package add on. $65/mo and I love it. All the other streaming services are bloated up with a bunch of useless channels.

Philo is very limited honestly I have it for about 2 years now and I don’t use it at all I’m paying for it and I don’t use it I gave out my password to other people to use it and they all will use it for 2 weeks the most then stop using it. Philo is so limited that it’s boring.
