I wear my phone on a Harmony lanyard around my neck. That also has the pulley for adjusting it. Its very useful. I've had numerous scratched or broken screens before I started using neck lanyards. The ones I have attach to a phone case with trigger lobster clasp keyclips. I also use a Rockform utility magnetic phone case with either a belt clip or pop socket attachments, so the lanyards can be attached to a tether loop on the corner of the belt clip or simply, attached to the pop socket if I screw that on to the case, plus the magnets within the case stick the clasp to the back of the phone automatically since those are magnets as well. I can thread the lanyard through from the neck to the hem of my t-shirt sweater, jumper, jacket Etc and do the zip up so I clip the phone to my trousers using the afore-mentioned belt clip. Its pretty well hidden then plus locked on to my person.

Thank you for reviewing this, Sam. It's pretty funny because I discovered it recently, and I got mine a few days ago. I was a little bit skeptical to be honest. I've tried different types of lanyards, chess mounts, etc., and I just wasn't satisfied. Then someone else told me about the slinger, and I grudgingly ordered one. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do. I know it isn't the right option for everyone, but I'm glad there are a variety of tools out there for different people. Again, thank you. And thank you for all of the work that you do.

Even if you had the slinger in the suggested position the camera will rotate to the correct position. You would need to click on the front jr facing camera to use it that way.

Sadly, I tried out the Slinger based on your recommendation. One of the clips holding the strap broke within two days. While product failure happens, the way that the company handles this is horrible. I am now being asked to return the item at my own expense so they can determine if I am covered under the warranty. If I am, they will then refund me or replace the item. It's incredibly unfortunate they're handling this so poorly, as the product looked like it was going to be life changing for me, but I can't let myself rely on a product if the company is going to be this horrible about resolving problems.

Hey Sam. Awesome accessory for your phone! Actually, this is some thing that my girlfriend and I would definitely benefit using.! Thank you so much for sharing this! The other thing that this would be good for using is with the app that you mentioned in your last video About how to cross streets! I can’t remember off the top, my head the name of that app. But I think this would be fantastic for that because then you wouldn’t have to hold your phone and your cane and or guard dog.

I think this is a great accessory. Only concern I have is the potential health effects or should say negative affects of wearing a cell phone so close to your heart or your body. There is a controversial subject, there is growing evidence that that type of cell phone radiation is dangerous on warm to close to the body. It’s becoming increasingly, so everything shows with the new 5G technology, which is a much higher frequency of radiation, creating a heating affect and possibly even damaging DNA, which is one of the problems with Bluetooth headsets or your buds. Again, this is somewhat controversial bit more, and more evidence seems to be demonstrating the validity of the concern. Your comments on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sam.

Adhersive thats the only thing on the phonecase?... Hmm. thats a bit of a risk on the long run in my opinion. I'd rather it was more connected to the phonecase instead. Like something clipping on. That way, its way less a "permanent" thing.

This is a nice product but I see a few major issues. One, my fiancé has a Leather Harry Potter Marauder's Map case on her iPhone, would the adhesive pads mess up something like this? I myself have a Bright green protective hard plastic case, and it does both its jobs nicely, but it has a built-in stand that is in a bubble or dome protrusion that sticks out about a centimeter total and a fingerprint scanner recessed, due to case but flat with phone with no case, just above that. Plus my case has many slihtly recessed points for decoration. Would we need to remove our cases to use this? Also, would it interfere with my fingerprint scanner? our phones are iPhone 12 (her) and Icon 3 (me). Two, I wonder why this is not made into a full hard case for the phone? That would be ideal instead of adhesive pads.

The Slinger lanyard does not interfere with the screen. It retracts into the card case housing
@seancarlson8261
@seancarlson8261 Жыл бұрын
I was referring to wearing the slinger with the phones rear cameras facing forward while walking. Where do the lanyard’s cords hang? Would they angle off to the right and cover the rear cameras? The phone would need to be oriented with the cameras at the top near where the lanyard strings up towards a person’s neck. I was not referring to holding the phone while using OKO with the lanyard retracted. OKO uses the rear cameras which, on an iPhone, are situated towards the top right of the phone when the phone screen is facing the user.
@shonuf7shogun
@shonuf7shogun Жыл бұрын
@@seancarlson8261 hey Sean - I understood your question. The retractable lanyard is inside of the slinger card case. When you wear slinger around you neck you extend the lanyard to your desired length. Regardless of whether the lanyard is retracted or extended, it NEVER covers or even comes near the front or rear cameras.

When traveling it is best to not have anything in your ears. But bone conductioning may work better
@khanhhm5762
@khanhhm5762 Жыл бұрын
@@lesliebailiff7738 that's a very good point. And it also just really depends on the person, how comfortable they are with their environment, and other factors. When I am in a very familiar area, I do wear earbuds. But if I'm going somewhere I've never been before, I might choose to use bone conduction headphones. Some people find though that the bone conduction headphones (even the latest ones) give them headaches, or the sound just isn't the same. I know in some situations, I will wear earbuds while walking down the sidewalk, then remove one to cross the street. Other blind/visually impaired people may not use their hearing as much while traveling, so they will choose to use earbuds. I know Bose came out with their sports open earbuds a few years ago. They are these things that hook over your ears and instead of the things going in your ears, they rest just outside of them, leaving your ears open. I actually have a pair of these. The problem for me is that they do fall off my ears, and they are not adjustable. But I know many people who absolutely love them. You're supposed to be able to run with them, but they feel too big for my little tiny ears. They'd be gone before I ran two steps.

No, no, no! This is the dumbest idea for a blind person that I have ever heard of. I am blind, and I know that if any blind person or I wore our phone around her neck, we would be mugged and hurt by some crazy person trying to snatch our phone. Dumb, dumb, dumb! The best solution is to get on the bone conducting headphones, Shocks carries a variety of prices from very reasonable to under $200. Never, never wear your phone around your neck or exposed so that someone can snatch it from you.

It might be a dumb idea for you, and it certainly isn't for everyone, which is why there are a variety of tools out there. I have tried multiple options, and I recently discovered the slinger. I haven't had it for that long, but I absolutely love mine. As for people grabbing it… Well, You could put the phone under your shirt when you are wearing it around your neck or in a cross body position. I am a woman, and I wear dresses, and over my dresses I always wear a matching black jacket. So if I am ever worried about my phone being exposed, I just put it underneath my jacket. As far as bone conduction headphones, I use those, too. But if I am using a service such as Aira or FaceTime in with someone who is acting as my eyes, the slinger is a fantastic option because I can keep my hands completely free. Again, this will not work for everyone, but I'm very glad that it exists.

That is so cool and I will order one as it will be great for me as a blind iphone 12 user that I carry in a shoulder bag now because the phone weights in at 500grams with a case and temper glass on it so this will be way better, I already have a bunch of RF ID cards from Austtralia ( I live in the Philippines now) and I thought ithe slinder would be great to make a video while walking about the tourist areas here and I wonder if I can use the phone sliner in a LANDSCAPE manner for neat 4K video? any one tried that yet?.. I can not use a video cam in the normal way anyway as I can not see the view finder or the flip our screen is way too small and daulight just glares out an ipad and I do not have the vision for even that any way..Like Sam I use a 43" inch SONY TV as my PC monitro with zoom up a lot ...Some things are really a good idea and some are just gimicks but the slinger is a cool idea, I once bought a arm band phone holder and could not use the phone in that thing it also slipped down my arm constantly so it was a waste of $5. and a dumb idea so I think Slinger is gonna make a lot mre sense to a lot of people including ME. :-) thanks for the review Sam.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Here is another perspective. With smaller hands, even the slim version would add too much bulk when I'm using the phone w/o the lan yard and likely cause me to drop it. Those with low vision like me who use their vision to operate a phone tend to have larger phones. That hefty real estate plus adding a phone case is enough to physically handle. For safety reasons, I store my credit cards deep in my pack. Finally, I tend to avoid anything retractable. Based on my history, the failure point is "too soon".
