I love it when bands' guitar players share the leading spotlight with eachother and share of eachother in soloing. Both Mick and Jim are sweet and sick at scaling, where Jim focuses more on his bends and slides, Mick focuses more on speed and timing per each note. Both of them combined make this music something far more than what it would have been with just one guitar player. They combine their strengths to make this a darkened lullaby of fallen angels.

It's funny how when he plays the solo he stops and focuses on the guitar but during the rest of the song he does all his crazy headbanging shit

@LucasKanso8 жыл бұрын
+Froggie McLillypad when you are soloing you cant just headbang hard as hell and stuff, I mean, it is not like anyother part of the song, and in this case, that Jim uses legatto technics on every solo it becomes even more "impossible"

@LucasKanso9 жыл бұрын
+Aarron Smith Yeah, Joey is really amazing! I miss him as well, but as for the other hand I like Jay playing, is not the same thing, but still fine :D
@walterlangkowski47239 жыл бұрын
+Lucas Kanso I just can't respect Jay like I do Joey because Jay grew up rich and privledged because his dad Max playing for springsteen. I'm sure that's all he's ever done his whole life with the best teachers and equipment is learn how to play the drums He's never built anything from the ground up and has never stuggled like us common fork. No rags to riches just all riches :/ but I do like the new material I suppose. but it pains me to here him play there old stuff.

Although I'm a PRS man, Jim's custom black Jazzmaster is a badass guitar. I like the idea of EMGs in a Fender instead of pickups/coils.
@LucasKanso10 жыл бұрын
Yes, his black Jazzmaster is my favorite of all, and when you take a Fender, what is already awesome for it self, then you put EMGs pick ups and it turns into a monster! My dream is someday have one of this haha.
@sydIRISH10 жыл бұрын
Lucas Kanso I believe his customs are around $1,500. That's about right I guess for a signature series guitar. Depends on where you get it I suppose. Hope your dream comes true man, that's not cheap but it's not an arm and leg either. In my opinion it would be worth that amount, just make sure that's the one you want. Everyone wants a different feel, weight, tone, specs, etc.
@LucasKanso10 жыл бұрын
sydIRISH Yes, it is really a little expensive, and thanks for the kind words, as you say I totally agree that is really worth the price that I going to pay, and I love his Tele, Strat, but the Jazzmaster kind of says to me that I need to have one (:

Well he's good, but is it so impressive for a guitarist to be able to play solos you recorded before in studio? I thought it was nothing more than expected :P
@LucasKanso10 жыл бұрын
Well, it's not about if it is impressive, the thing is that it is boring to do the same solo the same way over and over again (I mean, one time is awesome, but it comes to time that it's boring) and the nice thing is you change something, doesn't matter if it's a big or just a little change, but it becomes new, something you haven't listened before, that's creative. Thanks for watching (:

Most of the solos Jim plays live are improvs based on what was recorded in the studio, he uses the same shapes and ideas but puts a twist on it.

Lucas Kanso He said that he listen heavy metal since 85th, began with Metallica and Manowar, but Slipknot is not similar on some other. In band all musicians are SUPPPER! A +++++ By me - If say true - Root start play solos since Subliminal vol.3 and not before. But first two albums are still my favorite.
@LucasKanso10 жыл бұрын
goddevilslayer Oh, thanks for translating :D Yeah, he first start with solos on Slipknot with the Vol.3 but he was doing solos before with Stone Sour, I guess he and Mick never had specific attention in Slipknot as a guitar player should have, I mean, he does (used to do) much more solos in Stone Sour as I suppose that he had more liberty to do it. As for the albums, all of them are awesome, but I still like All Hope Is Gone for the most :D

@jamesstone12310 жыл бұрын
Nykolas Rocha It's a pretty good idea as well, i've tried it a few times. It tends to stop bad habits if you're a player who fucks around with the pick a lot when you're playing, and it feels pretty comfortable. Not quite sure if it works for me, but it seems to work for him!

Compare rap and rock/ metal genres for a sec... It seems to me rap is all about dissing "us" - the system - while rock/metal seems to cover everything from politics to dissing people to emotional disturbances. They are similar in their unique way but to me i think the major difference lies in the "mask" rock/metal use to detract from the plot...the masks depict the occult.. Evil. Does it define them, or is it how they see others or how they want you to see them? Anybody got a good answer?
@LucasKanso9 жыл бұрын
+whitenight369 Hmm, I kind of think the same, but now answering the question, in my opnion, it's more like how they see the other, how they see everything at all, 'cause most of the lyrics in both genres are criticism, like offenses but in a "smart" well choosen words, and I don't see them as an evil thing to their "targets" but an strong opposite though that wants to make them think about how thing are going. But as I said, that's my opinion.

You can't honestly say "Learn about guitar a little bit then go comment about Jim", as in, the lead guitarist of Slipknot... you're defending Slipknot on a musical level?! Come on man, next you'll be telling me Joey Jordisson is the worlds best drummer
@LucasKanso10 жыл бұрын
First of all, a normal people have no right to say something about it, learn about guitar, don't be a ignorant. And nope, I'm not defending Slipknot, just Jim, 'cause by the way Mick's a player in a very limited level, Shawn in shows is a useless guy and lots of other bad things going on with Slipknot. Second, Joey is a mith, no matter what you say, he is one (if not THE ONE) of the best drummers in the world today, or you'll be ignorant and stupid non-sense enough to say that Jay Weinberg is better?
@philipkarovski28110 жыл бұрын
Lucas Kanso They aren't bad for a new metal band and I kinda dig them but from a musical standpoint they aren't something special. The only thing interesting is the low down tuning, and while I love Jim's structuring of the solos his vibrato is below average, but either way I like them for what they are, a solid band.
@LucasKanso10 жыл бұрын
Philip Karovski I know they aren't, as I said, there is a lot of bad things going on, as I like more Stone Sour then Slipknot (but now SS is over anyway). I'm that kind of person that would go to either band show, if I would go, it would to meet Jim xD. But I'm a fan of Slipknot and now is my favorite band, but I'm more fan of Jim, he's an example for me, by everything he does.
@philipkarovski28110 жыл бұрын
Yeah I get what you mean my favourite guys from Slipknot and the reason I listen to them are Jim and Corey. They both seem so down to earth and cool I'd love to meet them if I ever get the chance

Philip Karovski Yes, I say the same, I really want to meet at least just Jim that's more important to me :D
