Fun Fact: Whenever Slipknot played this live, the band would set each other on fire. And Corey still has burns on his legs from doing that live.

They didn't put themselves on fire everytime they played this song, you can see live footages of this song where they don't play with fire at all, also I think that Corey still having burns from that is more of an urban legend. Sorry to kill the magic kids :v

@ecollins320 it has bad production quality becuase THEY DIDNT HAVE FUCKING 9 MEMBERS ON EVERY INSTRUMENT POSSIBLE! also, anders did great, the reason Corey's performance is so great is becuase he was drunk and on drugs at the time, not shitting on Iowa at all. Great song. I just don't like it when people shit on songs that are pretty good. But you can have your opinion..

Very similar vibe to Korn's "Daddy", although the lyrics aren't as obvious and explicit. Also it was produced by the same guy (Ross Robinson) who did Korn's two first record and who is known to push the artists' buttons until they break down emotionally to get the most charged performance out of them. He made Jonathan Davis cry while recording "Daddy", and during this Corey Taylor broke down to the point where he tore all of his clothes off in frustration and puked all over himself. True story.

The song ‘Scissors’ is actually written by Slipknot’s then drummer, Joey Jordison, and is about a deranged man, mutilating himself with a pair of scissors, as a suicide attempt, and blaming it on the world. The song was the final song on Slipknot’s debut, but it wasn’t a hidden track, ‘Scissors’ is the final song played, before 5 minutes of silence, (in which the 9 members watch a scat porno called ‘Mudslide’) before the hidden track ‘Eeyore’ is introduced

No vin you're wrong.. It's not scissors is the hidden song. Eeyore," a hidden track at the end of "Scissors," plays after a dialogue among band members that was recorded while they were viewing a scene in a pornographic movie involving coprophilia. The song describes Taylor's rage against a man who issued a death threat to him during a Slipknot concert. It has been played live many times and appears on both the DVD Disasterpieces and the live album 9.0: Live.

Ehhhh. They were only formed a year apart so I wouldn't say there was "alot" of influence. Maybe some mutual respect but it's not like slipknot formed 7 years after them. It was one year and Korn didn't have like any serious hits yet. I mean they had Blind. But that wasn't even originally a korn song. Head and Jonathan both look up to Corey traylor and Shawn so I just don't see what you said as factual. Plus everyone in slipknot will tell you to take shit joey says with a grain of salt. He wasnt even a primary writer at first. He actually never was.

They claim it to be a demo but it was sold at shows and it's pretty easy to come across. It came out in 1996, had a different vocalist (Anders Colsefini), and a wildly different sound with much prominent bass and some straight up funk moments (not even kidding on that btw). Korn takes that riff, from Fear Factory. Black Sabbath play same riff on War pigs, Pantera on This love, Sepultura on "Arise" song. Hardcore banda play same riff too. That riff is very old, sorry for my bad english.

You and I are the same in this. I wanted nothing but revenge in high school and I buried myself in this album to have somewhere to take that anger. Thank you for your videos.

20:50 I always heard it as "I don't want to... to be anyone... I want to die". One of the heaviest songs I've ever heard - a lot of Death Metal doesn't come close to the cloying, desperate atmosphere this song conjures.

React to Iowa - Slipknot on the Iowa album. Its about, well... just it’s about necrophilia. Yeah pretty dark stuff, possibly the darkest. This song is definitely up there next with “Iowa”.

Some people self harm with scissors when they don’t have anything else so in my mind this song means more then one thing but mainly it focuses on on self harm and reasons causing it and when he says you want it you need it it has a double meaning like I used to self harm and that’s honestly how it felt it was an addiction and it is also something to do with drug addiction maybe this song is flat out about addiction in general maybe it’s a combination of drugs, self harm, and sex but this song definitely has themes from all of those topics I could be completely wrong but my theory remains that all of these topics are implied in this song and all of them are connected with self harm being the undertone addiction with drugs and meaningless sex being addiction that are making the undertone addiction more necessary

Great comment, but part of it being about sex I don’t agree with, this one the least sexy songs I’ve ever heard.

i think the song is about being stuck in a toxic relationship and the mental strain it has on you, Corey talks about cutting his heart open (as in falling in love with someone, and doing anything he could for them) he also talks about drugs to numb the pain and how the drugs made him a numb person. cutting himself and doing drugs became normal to him and he changed.

On a side note, this song seems to have a thread with his earlier life when he attempted suicide but survived when he was found and taken to the hospital, which he did after a failed relationship (which became the source of the song "Everything Ends" from Iowa).
