I remember standing in the store listening to Iowa the first time when i was 11 years old and being blown away by this new genre i never heard of. At this time i was already deeply traumatized and dealing with suicidal thoughts, slipknot made me feel like i'm not the only one and the genre connected me to people that had to deal with similar stuff. I will never stop loving Slipknot for what they did for me.

@@braydenfriesen6654 Iowa is the GOAT of Slipknot albums - quite literally with the artwork being a goat haha! It is hard to top that and honestly I don't expect them to. I like bands evolving and experimenting - sometimes it can be bad, sometimes good or great. I love Subliminal Verses, and The Gray Chapter is a step-up from All Hope Is Gone which was... eh, I can't say it was terrible but it isn't an album I have revisited often. What I want is Slipknot to deliver an album that blows the shoes off of my feet, because they are still capable. Solway Firth is that. It doesn't feel as polished as anything they've done since Iowa, it's quite raw and very heavy. This is a great Slipknot song. 🤘🏻

The Solway Firth is a coastal water that forms part of the border between England and Scotland. The name does not appear in the song's lyrics but may be a reference to the "Solway Firth Spaceman," a 1964 photo of a little girl taken near the Solway Firth that shows a background figure wearing what appears to be a space suit. The photographer insisted the spaceman wasn't there when he took the picture. The mysterious spacemen who shouldn't be there links in with the song's subject matter of a false portrayal.
