I remember this, I'm at 0:12 it was 2005 and just a year before I got into a massive car wreck that left me Paralyzed at T-3-4, REALLY sucks but I'm fine, I remember the only thing that kept me going in Rehab was this band, they were playing in town when I was in rehab and I bought the tickets, stole a hospital wheelchair (My wheelchair was still getting processed by Insurance)I snuck out of rehab, I felt like ass but I still went, next thing I knew right before the show started there were cameras pointed at me and they asked if they could film me for a highlight reel, fun times. \m/

I like the little bit at the end that says "Dedicated to all the maggots everywhere" it makes you feel part of it, Slipknot have always loved and appreciated there fans a lot more than many other bands, I saw them live at the Download Festival a few years ago and when Corey Taylor the crowd he called us my friends, my family, was just really respectful of the fact we'd all payed to get in to see them play..

Honestly I think this song is way better with Chris doing the backup-vocals, instead of having Corey doing both on the CD.
@Southboundpachyderm
@Southboundpachyderm 5 жыл бұрын
I don't think corey does do both (I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure it's clown on the record with coreys voice dubbed into it to give it more melody). It's just how it's mixed is very different. I think this version is so much better because the entire song was remastered from their live sound as opposed to in studio where everything sounds so clean and perfect. Slipknot in general just has a sound live that's so hard to recreate in studio. I've always loved their live shit

This was the song that opened up metal for me. I got into nu metal as a young blood but this song, in hindsight, really opened up death metal for me. Which introduced me to techdeath, deathcore, crustpunk etc. etc. Even though I don't listen to slipknot anymore (unless I've had a lot of whiskey and it's past 4 am) I owe this band a life debt. Half of the music I listen to today is because of this song and this record. Thank you, forever.

I know people rave about Corey’s Iowa scream, (which is bad ass) but there was something so incredibly visceral, and guttural about his Volume 3 era scream that’s unmatched.

+Ornately No it's not. I mean, Eminem has LOTS of meaningful songs, but Heavy Metal/Screamo/Metal/Rock is where you really find the meaningful lyrics. Just read the lyrics in the description themselves. "The only thing I ever really loved, was hurting you" Physical/Emotional Abuse.

I remember being 13 years old and liking the same music as everyone else. a friend told me to listen to this song, I refused and told him screamo music is gay, after awhile he finally convinced to give it a chance. After I listened to it my life changed forever the brutal sound of the drums and chugging guitars and aggressive vocals where engrained in my brain I just had to listen to more and more heavy metal
