I have a solid flywheel after my dual mass failed in my ‘’97, same sounds in 3rd low rpm, and 2nd.

I'm glad i saw this video. I was going to install a new clutch on my 7.3 to get rid of the gear roll-over noise but i noticed at the end of your video it sounds like your 7.3 makes the same growling noise even with a new clutch. I guess theres just no way to get rid of the notorious zf6 7.3 growl. Thx

So I have a 03 f350 cclb drw 4wd with stock injectors and using the highest tune I've never slipped the 1939 SB clutch. That's the clutch with larger friction and smaller hub.

My new clutch I installed on my truck started slipping once I put it together my guess is the grease I put on the pilot barring got on to the clutch

SO TO CLARIFY, IF YOU REMOVE THE ENTIRE SHIFTER LEVER YOU DONT HAVE TO TILT THE MOTOR WAY DOWN TO REMOVE THE TRANY ? I ASK BECAUSE 8 YEARS AGO I REMOVED MY 6 SPD FROM MY 7.3 1 TON DUALLY 2 WD AND HAD TO TILT THE MOTOR WAY THE HECK DOWN BUT I DONT REMEMBER IF I REMOVED THE SHIFTER BASE
@ProjectsbyTMD7 жыл бұрын
no need to tilt the engine to remove the transmission. You do need to remove the shifter

Which pilot bearing did you end up using?

I'm glad I watched your video. The most intimidating part of this is taking the transmission out. I don't have a jack all I have is a floor jack. I am thinking about modifying a plate of steel big enough to carry the transmission with a post to fit in the jack. No one around where I live has a transmission jack for rent or sale. Any ideas are appreciated.

It's pretty heavy and bulky - a transmission jack is the best approach. Welding a plate on a floor jack might work - another alternative is to buy something on Craigslist during your next travel or on-line at HarborFreight.com

@@ProjectsbyTMD thank you, I managed to secure a transmission jack from a friend.

I just have a ts6 chip and my 2000 zf6 clutch is slipping, will a 400 hp vailar clutch be good for a few years running on 140 hp a lot? With no slip?

Nice video. Really wish this was a job I could do myself, but I reckon it will be well worth the 300 dollars it'll cost to change it out.
@ProjectsbyTMD10 жыл бұрын
Having someone swap it out for $300 isn't too bad of a price.

+ProjectsbyTMD it hard to tell from video is the plate between transmission and engine do you remember how thick is it is it about 1/8" or over an inch or there have to be both thank you
@ProjectsbyTMD9 жыл бұрын
I don't know for sure - but it is probably 1/16" thickness.

Cant go by looks! U gotta see if it flat! Your crazy to do resurface flywheel at this point. Half the circumference of the clutch could not touch flywheel if its not flat. Youll only be touching on edges like the stock one looked like all the wear was

Thanks for the vid. Any complaints about the new clutch up to this point? How is the pedal effort?
@ProjectsbyTMD10 жыл бұрын
No complaints yet - The clutch feel is pretty much like the previous one. It does take just as much effort to push it in.

Do you have to remove the transmission support?

You're crazy if you think just a tune will get you an extra 140 horse power in a 7.3 😂😂
