Wow, that's cool! I was searching for a video I saw last year where someone used silver metal clay and painted a leaf for a pendant when I found this video and your sage leaf ring tutorial. Both were excellent! I know nothing about these things so does metal clay always have to be fired in a special kiln like yours or is there some other way? Thanks for sharing! 😊

Hi! Thanks for liking my videos! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! Silver metal clay can be torched fired with a hand held butane torch. Its a little tricky and sometimes doesn't fire through the whole piece. But it is doable. I wouldn't recommend it for sterling silver clay. Bronze metal clay is another story. You need a kiln for that. The heat needs to be at least 1500 degrees and holding times to help the binder in the clay burn away and fuse the metal particles together. I use a lot of bronze clay cause sometimes there are accidents that happen while firing and its cheaper to have those accidents with the bronze then the silver clay. Please let me know if you have any other questions . You can also check out my instagram page @jwjewelerystudio and my website JWJeweIrystudio.com where I have other examples of my bronze metal clay work and enamels. Happy Creating!

Could you use artificial flowers
@jwjewelrystudio74805 жыл бұрын
I've never tried artificial flowers. Some artificial flowers are plastic and I would be concerned with the fumes they let out when burned. Also I'm not sure how the metal clay would react with the chemical make up in the artificial flowers. Guess you could try a test with silk flowers. I think those would burn away a little cleaner. I would recommend doing some tests on a small scale. Would love to hear about your results! Happy Creating!
