To those who are not aware of how the "challenge" rule works, (i only recently found out myself) the +4 isn't intended to be played whenever you want, but only if you have no other choice. When a +4 is played the receiving player can "challenge" the person who played it to see if they could have played a different card, if they could have then the person who played the +4 draws 4 and an additional 2 for playing it incorrectly, although if they couldn't have played anything else the accuser draws the 6 instead. (Kinda convoluted but i hope this clears things up)

What challenging means in UNO is if you think that the player who +4 you has another card that they could have put down but they decided to +4 you anyway, you challenge them, making them draw the +4 that you would have drawn.

Not exactly a card but only a color for example, a yellow 7 is on the table and you have a green 7 and a +4. You can use the +4. Basically +4 is completely safe to use as long as u don’t have the COLOR that is on the table because if the opponent chooses to draw he will draw 4 but if he chooses to challenge he will draw 6 as his suspicion was incorrect. If u did have a card that u can put down and u are challenged you draw four. Now how to use this as an advantage? [Case 1] Suppose on the table is red, you have many cards but no red (There are some cases that this happens, although very rare) in such case if you use a +4 u can trick the opponent as he would think you surely have a red and he challenges you and draws 6. Now if you get a +4 pay attention to the amounts of cards he has - More cards = challenge (still a risk as the opponent could also have the above case (case 1), less cards = draw 4. [Case 2] If you have the color that is on the table but very little cards, u can risk placing a +4 to make the opponent think that u don’t have another choice but a +4 therefore making him draw 4 to avoid having to draw 6. Again this case could work the other way around with them placing the +4. Jelly however had misled slogo and crainer by telling them that they are not supposed to have the color they choose while playing the +4 and then later said that challenge is who has more of the color that is chosen. Josh kept declining/drawing although he could challenge. So in conclusion, to avoid all risks, don’t use +4 unless you don’t have a card or u are forced to [Stacking].
