Why did you keep mentioning tower heroes? It actually has some effort put into it and all the issues you point out among certain tower defense games are all not present in tower heroes. former fntd tester here aside from the game becoming a mindless cashgrab, the game's management and staff team isn't the brightest either. a former top 1 clan leader exposed their staff members for pedophilia and favoritism as well as abusing power to silence people spreading the word about it. devs aren't innocent either, despite hundreds of requests they never switched to a bi-weekly update schedule which resulted in buggy and unfinished updates, with all of the blame going falling on testers. every update felt like a yet another wave of harassment because of something we could not even control. the mod team was also proven to be racist, 3 different mods (which are not black) were caught using the word on multiple occasions and they've also falsely accused the clan owner of pedophilia with no proof (which is illegal btw lol ) when they had a pedo on their team themselves. of course, not even their own were spared from bias. i got demoted and had my whole inventory wiped (100+ hours of playtime, have been playing since season 1 of the game) because i told a former tester what i got as tester payment. it's also worth mentioning that said tester was demoted for some stupid reasons which i can't really remember, but it's probably related with him owning a value list which was a competitor of a different value list owned by a staff member if you want to learn more about the insanely biased and illegal shenanigans going on there, dm itsanony on discord

I think the small bit of slander on TDX is unfair. Besides how good it looks, and the ost, and the character design, map design, etc, the death system is amazing. Never used in a TD before. And lots of original ideas have been made with TDX, like the stealthed towers mechanic. Hell, even the farm is original, with one path making more money for towers placed around it. Scarecrow as well, baits enemie attacks including less original ideas like enemy stuns. Warship, 17 attacks, you need to rotate it for its full potential. Theres alot of original content in the game.

I 100% agree, gacha systems in Tower Defense games are horrendous and need to be addressed by Roblox but Roblox does nothing about it because they earn millions of dollars from these games. As a someone who has played many, *many* td games, even a gamble one (I regret being lvl 150 there), there're a few games based on other franchises that are good, and games that aren't developed by a big team that are better than these gambling cashgrab games, hell, some of them are developed by one person The problem isn't the gambling, the battle cats taught me that, it's the stupid way how "Devs" if you can even call them that use it and implement it into their "games", again, if you can even call them that, and in this case, they use it as cashgrab and make it completely unfair since they're lazy to make common towers good and rare towers not top tier just because of it's stats

I’m sorry for the very long comment, but I have to explain the issue in detail with these types of TD games. I think the issue with these gambling games is that every tower feels the same when it comes to how it works. They just attack but get stronger if they are more rare (I guess farms are there too but still). It kinda ruins the point of using a set up of towers that are perfect to combat the stage the player or players are going to do. In fact, it’s mostly using the most powerful towers to beat levels, just using raw power to complete them. That’s why I still enjoy TDS, TDX, and even Doomspire Defense (which I just started playing a couple days ago) today, since the towers are easy to get since you don’t need to gamble, just buy them, and they have differences that can make players decide if they are useful for the hard stages. Even some of the towers have abilities like making your tower upgrades cheaper, make them attack faster, and etc. I play Battle Cats so I am used to the gambling formula, but I’ve never paid a single penny in that game, and it at least has so many units that can help you fight against the multiple different types of enemies. Hell, I even play BTD6 and there are so many ways you can use the multiple amount of monkeys (and heroes) to play the different stages and difficulties, and they are a lot of fun to use. Overall, these lazy, P2W cash grabs are terrible when it comes to strategies which is why they are just not even fun to play. It’s all just: More rare tower = more power

Gambling in tower defense games doesen't just make the game greedy and RNG based, it also makes the gamemodes so unbalanced because the creator of the game expects you getting first the common towers and later on, the "legendary" ones but if you are lucky enough, you can get legendaries at the beggining of the game and skip like 4 gamemodes

I have two ideas for tower defense games One: watery doom There is a straight line where the length depends on the difficulty. easy makes it long and hard, makes it short. The line will be in a pattern of grass and water squares, and the end of the line will always be a grass block with a castle on it, which will be what we will have to protect, and around the line is a desert (secretly full of mines). And there will be swimmers, scuba divers, boats, planes, and helicopters that will try to get to your castle, so you will have to defend your castle, but here's the twist, there are only land towers and no water towers, but there will still be ways to attack enemies in the middle of a water square. I myself am taking notes on some games so that i can make a tower defense game, i have the name set and have been working on enemy design concepts for almost 2 years, i have been able to get the enemy consepts but any consepts of actual towers are not in my head, buttttt i have alot of things planned out, i hope my game will not just be forgotten like many td games, my game concept has a ton of stuff, i am thinking about also adding a retention mechanic where say there is a mode that takes a while but the players have everything maxed and ready a machine will spawn that the players can interact with and play on, with stuff like pacman, donkey kong and other classic games, i want your opinion, should i add this mecanic to the gamme or no, since when i play stuff like tds and im on the late waves on hardcore it gets boring since you have everything and you just stand there clueless I also have an extreamly big idea that will help mobile players (such as me) to get rid of lag! That being a setting that can remove enemies, same thing on hardcore when you get to late waves enemies get spammed and most of the time my phone crashes, so making a feature where i can get rid of the enemy models disappear but thier hitboxes still intact would really help, like the enemies are there but at the same time not there, those are my thoughts, tell me your thoughts on this

Yeah like honestly they are horrible, i mostly have nothing extra to add but i actually did meet the devs of ball tower defense before the beta and i asked them if they would remove gambling, they're reason was that all other gambling td game systems have the same towers do the same things but in their game the tower do and attack in different ways. They also said and i think did make all the gamepasses free and even mentioned that everything would and is achieveable without spending anything. I also tried recommending a bit of a solution to the gambling content and they said they would take it into account, they are also pretty chill people in roblox dev standards ngl.

Summoning systems in tower defense games have so much potential to be amazing if done right. The games over on Roblox don’t have enough effort to actually do them right though 😂. Thats the reason why so many in the Roblox skibidi rizzler community despise summoning systems. Not because summoning systems are bad in tower defense games. (Btw keep scrolling the comments if you aren’t ready for a yap session about me glazing a fire TD game or skip to the end for a brief summary if you are slightly less lazy.) For a summoning system to work in a TD game, there must be a secondary method to gain towers. Otherwise, the game will become a slop fest of monotony. For example, a secondary system could look like towers that could be obtained naturally by progressing in the game. (Think of how you unlock birds in angry birds epic.) This allows the game to be fresh and engaging knowing you will get something new every time instead of solely relying on summons. These towers can be just as good as or better than many summoned towers or weaker creating a spectrum for smoother progression. Others could be unlocked by defeating certain levels of a higher caliber. (Think of tower heroes’s quest towers). As i mentioned above, these towers could match the performance of many high end summon towers. This means you can beat many levels with unlockables. Now that I have explained why this mystery game maximized the efficiency of the tower system, it’s time to dissect the Roblox TD games you considered to be more creative/high quality, tds and tdx. While you not liking the military defense style is purely subjective, there is a whole different reason entirely on why these games (and games similar to them like tower blitz and critical td) are horrible. These Games throw out the concept of summoning entirely except for tds which i will get into in a sec. Instead going for a system where most towers can be unlocked right off the bat with some being level locked. This allows the player to optimize their loadout to how they want to do things and select the towers they need for any given strategy. That’s amazing!…right? Wrong. Being able to choose what you want to get immediately is incredibly harmful to replay ability and general fun. It ruins all sense of strategy because you just purchase whatever the KZbin tutorial says to purchase. From there, the things you want to do just have no difficulty. You do the same thing over and over so you can purchase the next tower for the next grinding strategy. The issue is there is no end goal. All you do is grind until you get everything and then grind in the most optimal way. You are never placed in unique situation where you need to use the limited towers you have at your disposal to strategically deal with a hard stage. The devs don’t help either because some towers are just absolute trash leaving no insensitive for a player to purchase them. Other towers are just absolute meta that can shred anything that you are borderline required to purchase at some point. Leaving only a few meta loadouts instead of creativity. Tds, the most well known in the “non slop” category has a few of these meta towers that are locked behind an rng crate. The worst part is, it can take months or even years to get them all depending on your dedication. Most people don’t spend every waking hour playing tds so it usually takes years. Turns out these games are pretty “slop” Td games as well. Now that we understand that 99.99% of Roblox TD game is uncreative and soulless except for maybe one hidden gem that no one knows about, let’s talk about how gameplay CAN be replay able. If towers start out with fixed stats, they can become boring pretty quickly. This is why a tower leveling system (not the same as upgrades in the middle of a game) is practically mandatory for keeping them fresh. To help even more, add evolutions to them once they have reached a certain threshold while you’re at it. This will maximize how fresh the towers feel when you play with them. Also make it so the summon units mentioned earlier cost a lot so leveling up your economy (different from upgrading in the middle of a game) is also necessary. This also helps prevent new players just getting busted towers with no drawbacks instantaneously. I honestly don’t see many Td games having an “upgrade economy” system. Usually they just add a farm tower that wastes a tower slot for something that should be mandatory in every match and call it a day. I think you can already see the issue with that. To avoid non creative meta loadouts that dominate everything. Add enemies with special resistances and abilities. And before you say it, seeing popular TD games that have “hidden” and “flying” followed by copying it and inserting it into your game is not creative. I’ve seen it about 1 million times. If you want to add them, sure. Hidden and flying enemies aren’t trademarked or anything like that but having ONLY those two special enemies in your game and maybe like one or two more special effects found in like one themed stage is just lazy. Add many enemy effect variants. After that, add multiple towers that specialize in countering one or more of these variants. This completely throws the issue of meta loadouts out the window and requires the player to be creative on each stage and create numerous unique combinations of towers to triumph difficult stages. Congratulations, you have made it to the end of the yap session. It’s about time I reveal the mystery game i have been eluding to. Many of you might have already picked up on it. Pay close attention Roblox kids, I’m about to hook you up to a goated tower defense game. It’s name is called: The Battle Cats. It is completely free to play and available on any device. 0:56 everything that every tower defense developer didn't think of this idea 1: player stun 2: tower that can spawn towers in your loadout as a unit 3: tower health that same mechanic in tdx 4: event is just a waste of time for the developers cause they made all the enemies just to ended up delete them when the event ends but how to fix it? simple make a quest like you gotta do something to unlock the event again for 24 hours and you can pause the timer 5: having they own show like the family guy or the rick and Morty to keep the player entertained 6: travel back time :example: you can go back at certain update in the pass to play a gamemode that got deleted in the new update and event doesn't count and it save all your progress from the newest version to the oldest version 7: making tutorial mode tds already have 8: modifiers doomspire already have this so like you can make a gamemode easier or harder 9: power up just like in btd6 tdx and tds 10: sandbox mode you already know this if you not is just a gamemode that you can experiment with something but you only can have your own tower example: if you don't have a trapper tower you can't place it in sandbox mode but if you have you can place it in sandbox mode so you have a reason to grind for towers 11: custom gamemode basically player over lvl 150-250 can make they own custom gamemode and you can sell it into the public with coins or gems 12: custom skin the same thing as custom game mode but skin 13 custom map the same thing as custom skin and custom gamemode but as a map 14: challenge game mode tds already have this cause if you're max lvl and have all the towers there's nothing you can do left but wait for the update but you can do the custom challenge from others players and it give you a lot of coins or gems well at least you have a reason to play the game now AND YET NO DEVELOPER EVER THINK THE MOST OF THIS IDEA HOW NO ONE EVER THINK OF THIS

To address some of your Ball TD criticism: - I wouldn't say it's lazy, there's still so much I want to add and my hope is that it can be the best a gacha game could possibly be - I would like to maybe one day have unique models for each upgrade! Gameplay is just a higher priority to me atm plus we do not have the resources to achieve this rn. - Can you please provide more feedback on why the game you feel the game is unplayable? real,as a tower heroes player, ui can clearly affirm the game is pretty more descent than any others, i mean, i can create a server instead of a teleportator thingy timer with that goes out after 30s(even tho on tower heroes they have that too, but mostly unused since well, creating vservers exist); and the towers are just impecable, the designs are very cute and you can win a big quantity of skins (from gambling or passing maps), a bad part is there isnt that much towers, but still events that give limited things and others,i feel the game needs more popularity

Underrated TD game: Noob Tower Defense (red ruby studios) Has less than 10 CCPs usualy, but has free sandbox at lvl 10, Map Maker at lvl 20 and overall is pretty fun to play

i like to think how Pixel Gun Tower Defense 3, supposed to be an April Fools joke made by the Pixel Gun Tower Defense and Toy SoldierZ devs, literally blew up in popularity due to it having interesting strategy, fun gameplay and being the most fair “gacha” experience. The game only stopped getting updates because the main dev was russian so they lost access to the game, or something around those words. PGTD 3 still remains one of my most favourite TD games and probably the best Roblox TD game. I’m playing Doomspire Defense to cope while waiting for an actual PGTD sequel.

This is why I support Tower Battles and Tower Defense Simulator because in TDS the only form a gambling in it are for skins, and in TBs there's no gambling at all. These tower defense copies just take the gambling from simulator games (Pet Simulator mainly) and shove it in with the tower defense games.

You should try monolith defense. Its a td game with a gacha system but it actually does it good. The biggest difference it makes is that there isnt a 0.01 percent unit or some bs like that and every unit has the same chance of getting.and every unit is good and there isnt really a powercreep.

this makes me sad. i made a tower defense game, and sure, i added RNG/gambling to it, atleast YOU CAN GET TOWERS NORMALLY. gacha units are optional, and there are more normal towers than gacha towers. i used a kit (like most of these), but atleast i actually put effort into the game, like multiple lanes/tracks, enemies being able to survive death, booster, summoner AND farm towers, buffs and debuffs, and a lot more.
