I'm glad i found these videos. Especially the MS1 info. I had been a little put off by buying an MS2/3 incomplete kit for fear of wasting 400 bucks or so. And i had thought MS1 wouldnt be robust enough to run an LS motor.

That was perfect. You ARE right: the people who invented MegaSquirt and/or the people who market it SHOULD have done a series of videos like this. Maybe they are trying to stay off the RADAR. They are also deliberately vague about the near inevitability of buying dyno-tuning for non-mainstream motor/injector combo's. Cha-Ching, baby. Good Job.

Thank you ! I understand what megasquirt is and to install it do not looks like dificult. The tuning requiers some experience i think. I have a motorcycle with a Ljetronic injection on it there is have a vane flow meter and a on/off TPS Do you think megasquirt or microsquirt would allow a better power, torque or mileage ? i would have to install a Map sensor right ? i'm French and a beginner in engine management. Are you the guy from 1320video channel ? You have the same voice and diction.

One of your better vids denmah been following the car and the technical things. I think thats what makes your vids so good is that your not making a commercially produced style or a highly edited video of cars gone wild. I think you got a good blend of technical stuff. Kinda like the old Stacey David but you actually run your car hard

Matt, you are simply a genius. I'd tossed the ms idea, as you stated reading on the diyautotune site and the megamanual is like trying to understand quantum physics. If only I'd have known it was this simple!

Cant wait. I pretty well understand the MS for fuel but not so much about how to get the ignition and timing all dialed in, in conjunction with a MS. Can you tune totally on the fly without needing to make runs on the dyno? Keep up the great videos, really appreciate the info and videos you put out there.

Dude your ultra casual it ant nothing hides a lot of smarts and time and determination. I have been interested in the Mega squirt for years but having zero electronics background always left me feeling like. "Sure it's easy" that's what they say but what else would they say "No it's ball busting hard and you need an advanced degree in magic" so more digging looking for the magic bullet of enlightenment. Read the entire Mega manual, man did they name that right, worked harder trying get a handle on it than anything I did in school. It just never clicked now after watching a number videos on u-tube. Yours being one of the better; honestly believe if I take some time and am careful it can be done by yours truely and will start make plans and buying parts looking at a turbo TPI 91 FORMULA Firebird 350. Already have all the pieces to do the suspension and brakes the way I want. The engines blown now know which direction to build it's replacement which is sitting on a stand right now. Not looking for the moon just around 500 to 525. It's a cast crank but as long as it's not rattled it to much not really worried about it at this power level 4 bolt all ARP fasteners. Kind of old school cheap as always subbing my labor for money where it makes since to do so. That's where the Mega Squirt comes in. I will build the engine have built over a dozen different engines both import and domesctic including a couple of 12a rotories. Man those things don't look like there all there blown a part on a bench.

Awesome video man just what i was waiting for. What i would really like to see is once you have the MS box all wired to the car, where do you start to get the car to fire up and run nicely. What numbers do you put in the VE table to start with and where do you go from there? The reason it scares me is if i start up a fresh motor i dont want to flood the thing and wash out the rings while its blowing black smoke out the back because i am pressing a bunch of buttons lol.

Basics is always a good start. I'm just happy to learn something about them at all. I had read up on them some, but like you said the info was really vague and they seemed quite complicated. But now they seem to have waaay more flexibility than a factory ECU.

@aaroncake11 жыл бұрын
I agree, but in the same sense the V2 board is so limited that people may get the wrong idea about MegaSquirt. The V3 isn't really that much more complicated (just more components) but the benefits radically outweigh the extra effort. Like for example, the lack of an injector flyback circuit on the V2 (surprised you don't have issues with this running 8 injectors). Though for a bit more money and someone soldering iron shy, the 3.57 board is a better choice still.

I have a neon that I'm going swap and turbo and was thinking about running megasquirt and had a few questions for you. They sell kits for my car, but at just over $600 it kind of defeats the purpose of budget building and takes away from doing it myself. I wanted to ask, how dumb of a person can tackle something like this? I can solder on a circuit board and make good connections and have no trouble wiring a sound system, however I couldn't tell you a damn thing about computers. Could someone with minimal knowledge but full access to Google get a car running with this? How bad is it to use the existing harness and megasquirt connector to build the harness? I know these are dumb questions but as you stated in the video good info is hard to come by, and you do well sticking to low budget goals and explaining things to non experts. thank you

This video is from Sept. of 2012 and you are still only using MS1 on a 2.2 board?! At the very least, use the vastly improved 3.0 board with MS2. The MS1 hasn't been developed for years, and many of the features of the MS3 have been backported to MS2 (though MS2 development will stop shortly). Man, I don't think I've seen a 2.2 board since the mid 2000s.

There's really no point really in MS. There's so little documentation, I'd rather just DIY from scratch using microcontrollers and some RE tools to build the mapping from the stock ECU (don't even have to have it connected to the engine really). Cheaper, easier, faster and not an overengineered "look at me ma" solution.
