I like the layout. Coming down the slope to the underpass is probably very tempting to go too fast and deslot. Nice long straight too.👍

Speed's look realistic. Some racing you watch is so unrealistic speed wise, I lose interest real quick. I don't like blur racing.

Doesnt the inside lane have an advantage with that layout.. stagger the starting line?
@ScaleRacing Жыл бұрын
No as an outside figure 8 all lanes are equal lenght. But also we race every lane and the Timing systems carries your count from each lane. Typically in a Sprint we race 3 minute heats so 8 x 3 minutes.

Speeds are realistic. Well done for that. Have seen tracks where cars to scale are doing nearly 1000 kph per hour. Blur racing lol.

How much does it cost
@mrafard Жыл бұрын
racing is expensive
@ScaleRacing Жыл бұрын
Race cars start from under $100.00 ready to win. That is 1:32 scale In 1:24 entry level cars are about $150.00 with the fastest car class about $230.00. Motors last for years, tires for many Months. Bodies also years unless you crash a lot. So compared to RC very affordable.

Having come from a background of racing unlimited wings, group 7, group 12, and super16 NASCAR in 1/24, I just can't get in to the euro-32 classes as I can't help but feel they should be much quicker. It seems to me that euro slot cars are treated more like we treat the train hobby here in the U.S.. Much more about concourse and appearance than performance.

I have also raced wings and all the way down to 16D racing. What we like about this type of racing is the cars are real models of actual race cars. Speed is relative if all the cars are close in performance the thrill is still real. Also the general public get what we are doing. I remember being in a big wing car race when the public came in and watched for about 15 minutes. Then someone from the group asked what are we doing? I of course answered we are racing. They then sad what are you racing? I said cars, to that they replied "Where are the Cars" I thought about that for a minute, and had to admit these objects to not resemble Cars. Since then I race scale cars, and the racing is very competitive, just like when I raced wings and things. The big difference is the Public get what we are doing. Even some crossing over from a Commercial track locally, stating this is so much more fun. the cars are realistic and it takes real skill to drive,. Now I know it takes skill to drive ( and build) wings and other forms of Slots. But I prefer to race cars that look like the real thing. The voice from the Public I meet seems to re-enforce that statement. This is not a passive hobby like Model Trains we are Racing For Real, with Real looking cars!!
@BigRalphSmith Жыл бұрын
@@ScaleRacing So, you're racing for appearances? For looks? That's what your story indicates which is exactly what I said. It's the reason people get in to trains. For appearances.

@@BigRalphSmith If you mean Cars that look like cars yes we want to race cars not lexan objects. Not criticising that type of racing but this is the bigger Hobby Worldwide and for a good reason even if people do not understand why we are doing it at first they can clearly see we are racing cars. Strange even at Commercial Tracks that raced Wings the photos on the walls were of Real Race Cars. We race, and race hard, real miniature race cars. We are not parading or cruising cars around so really nothing like Model Railroading. Sure we love detail but it is all about the racing. Including Real 24 hour races with 6 hours in total darkness. To each their own, but like you we race the speed is relative!!! Bike racing tour de France type is still racing, so is Moto GP, Karts are still racing so is F1. Why do slot racers only judge it on speed, and expense, seems a bit elitist to me. But enjoy your wing racing. we will enjoy racing real cars in miniature. Race on!!!

I personally like watching slot-cars at realistic (scaled) speeds. Watching "blur" racing does nothing for me.

marshaling needs to be improved, good track layout
@johnstezelecki8157 Жыл бұрын
Your right but the marshal interference should have been a track call in most locations
@ScaleRacing Жыл бұрын
@@johnstezelecki8157 This was an impromptu fun race when we had just set up the track almost 9 years ago. We do not do track calls or rider calls, as we find this rewards those who overdrive. We have corner marshals for big events, but also race Crash and Learn if numbers are smaller. This greatly improves the racing skills as drivers learn how to go quick without crashing.
