I just picked up an Autoworld Drag strip, The AW track connects to my old AFX track no problem. Guide pin slot looks to be same depth as well. I had to check, you had me worried. I'm about to start setting the new strip to my currant AFX track, but hadn't really checked compatibility. I knew the connection tabs were the same. Great channel, it keeps me on my toes as I venture back into Slotcar Land.

Thanks for the vid. Pulled my Aurora set out after two decades now my boys are old enough to respect the cars. Really glad Me and my mates went with AFX Aurora back in the day,seems we made a good future proof choice.

Great advice in this video. I had a layout using adapters to link different types of track and it took a few nasty crashes to figure it out. New camera is really good.

I never realized Autoworld track wasn't the same as AFX until I started running T~jets ... The two tracks do connect to one another but, the dept is an issue. I was snapping off the T~jet guide pins left & right until I figured out what in the heck was going on. Thanks for the great info 👍🏼🏁👍🏼🏁

I used to have a full afx flex layout made from 8-10 boxes of flex. Track was passable for g-plus but i think they got stuck on it due to it using springs for power rails.

Great information, thanks again for putting the video together. Also, on the different colors of old Aurora Lock and Joiner track, I believe they did make a Yellow Color Track for the Sand Van set and a White Track for the Snowmobile set, but you don't see those colors very often.

Can you do this again but add slot cars so we all can see the spacing of the cars?

rokar track and lifelike are the same, I think that marchon and microscalextric is also the same track. never realized that autoworld is narrower, I checked it out after watching the video and was surprised find that out. Great video and the new camera is a definite improvement

I have a mixture of track due to the RR crossing . Tomy to Autoworld adapter to Life Life back to AW to Tomy the only cars that have a problem with the RR crossing are some of my newer Mega G, and G+ which I noticed have longer guide pins. Lane spacing is better on Life Like and Tyco something I just noticed when I was racing my Tyco truck against my AFX police car and they couldn't pass each other unless they were on the LL track. I use to have the country bridge from the old lock and joiner but I sold that because the guide slot was too shallow.

RT-HO tools are great. Be careful with idler post expanding tool. Just expand a little bit at a time. You can always expand the post further if you need to but if you expand it too far you can ruin your top plate. If you can afford the T-Jet gear press you should get one of those also. It makes taking apart a T-Jet chassis a breeze. I jut wish RT-HO made a gear press for AFX chassis.

You mentioned different colors and there are actually 5 different colors of track, six if you include Tyco U.S. Trucking track. There is the regular asphalt black track, dirt brown track from the X-treme Motocross sets, sand tan track from the Racin' Bandits & Racin' Hoppers sets, darker gray concrete track from the Ferrari Face-Off & NASCAR Showdown sets and the gray railroad track from the Twin Turbo Train set. I prefer this track for several reasons. First, I had it as a child. Second, there is a wide variety of types of different pieces. That being said, I wish they had made a hairpin turn and 12" radius banked curves. I currently have close to 2000 feet of track. Now I just need to by a warehouse so I can set up all my dream tracks!
@clevengercolink8 жыл бұрын
Actually, I missed two additional colors. There is the sky blue track from the Harry Potter set, as well as the second dirt track color included with the Disney/Pixar Cars sets. So there are a total of 7 colors that you can make full tracks. There are a few neon yellow pieces, some orange transition pieces and some translucent blue with white for a snow effect. Those are the only ones I know of currently. I just recently discovered the second dirt color. I had thought that it would be the same as the motocross track,, but it is a much darker brown with maybe a reddish hue.

In general I prefer Tomy track but I have had lots and lots of it that was bowed and wouldn't lay flat and some straight track that wasn't straight. Pretty irritating. Plastic injection molding in China is the cause. Had an in-depth conversation about it with someone at Racemasters about 6 years ago. Could be they have successfully solved some or all of the problems. Haven't bought any for quite a while. Tyco track isn't terrible but those flat connecting tabs can move up unpredictably. There was a time when I was going to use Lifelike track and if I get some of it again I probably will. Enough different pieces for a nice 2 lane including banked curves. 4 lane would be more of a challenge to design a good layout. All around Tomy is the best option for most people. Although if T-jets is your thing, old Model Motoring track is not a bad idea. Lane spacing is an issue for the cars like AFX that are slightly bigger. Long ago Atlas brand track was the favorite. Good luck finding enough of it now though.

Get a track from viperscaleracing. It's a million times better than anything that's made today. My old Rokar track that I had in the 90s was fantastic. I had a 4 lane 117" F1 layout. It was sweet!! No bowed straights, no clicking, it snapped togehter rather than pushing together.I never had an issue with the connections either. A perfectly flat track that worked great!! I can't remember what type the track was??

AFX offer the widest range of curves and straights, I've also heard the track wears better after years of club abuse compared to Tyco. That said, Tyco track can be had very cheap at garage sales, auctions, etc. There was a time here where toy stores here were selling it at 99c a pack just to get rid of it! Now I just buy AFX in bulk lots online, used sets, etc. Does me well, works fine. New track will always be perform better, but I can't justify the cost for my once-in-a-while floor layouts.

I had the older track back in the 90s. I bought a Rokar set with the Indy cars. I can't remember what type of track it was. But, I do remember that is was way way better than the new AFX Garbage track that's made today. The old track was very quiet and I didn't need to attach it to the table. And it didn't make all that clicking noise, even in the turns. The new Junk AFX track it so loud with all the clicking it makes as the cars run, espically in the turns. Plus the new AFX track doesn't go togehter that well. The connections aren't level either. Like I said, JUNK.. So I did the best thing I could do. I sold the AFX track and got a new track from viperscaleracing.. I got the White Sintra 4x16 Dennys 4 lane layout.. No clicking at all.. And the turns have a continuous rail, no clicking.. Do yourself a favor and don't buy the new AFX TRACK. IT'S "GARBAGE".. AFX SHOULD BE A SHAMED!! They make a hoorrible product. I was told that they still use the old moldings that were used in the 90s. Cheap Bastards.. It's all about the money and not about making a good product.. The track I had 30 years ago was way way better than the junk that's made today.. Shame on AFX

Autoworld stuff is junk as well, and the Autoworld cars are junk too.. The best cars are the tyco 440X2 and the Tomy SG+, AFX Mag/non mag and of course T-jets..The Mega G+ cars a garbage.. I won't buy any of the new junk..See a trend here?? All of the new stuff today is GARBAGE!!! I got rid of all my new stuff and I only run older cars. There's no comparison.. After the video I think I had the Life like track. But I don't think it was called like like back in 1992 when I got it?? Anyway I never had any issues with the connections breaking off. I only had 1 metal piece break because I was working on a power tap section and I had to keep taking the track apart back and forth and I didn't line it up correctly. So it was my fault it broke. It's amazing, the Auroa track I used to have back in the sixties was so much better than the Shit that's made today, espically AFX. The old Aurora track already had the recessed holes drilled in it incase you wanted to screw it down. And it had white lines painted on as well.. Class dismissed!!!
