Rakdos Lizards usually has vinelasher/Fabled passage combo, but I never considered the additional synergy with freestrider lookout on top. Very clever!

Yeah, vinelasher is great on its own, but with any kind of crime synergy it pretty much allows 0 mana triggers, and that's huge. Kinda like tinybones joins up - but for non-legendaries :)

At 4:22 I don't think they had the time to respond to the triggers. They could remove the 1/1 while Lookout is still on the stack, but they obviously want to use the removal on the Lookout instead. Once Lookout hits the board, priority goes to you. You play a land, lands don't go on the stack and cannot be reacted to. Then the Lizard triggers and goes on the stack, which is the first moment the opponent could respond, but targets are already chosen as the landfall ability goes on the stack, meaning that the lookout immediately triggers, even if the opponent wants to react before the landfall ability resolves. Anyone correct me if I'm reading it wrong, but that's how I interpret the situation.

I tried a couple of Vinelasher + Lookout but I could not make it to work. Agro is just too powerful on this meta. One good addition to this deck is Armored Scrapgorger, because you can cast Lookout with it on turn 3 and if you have a desert it triggers crime and gives an almost guaranteed ramp. Not only that it's also a free crime on the opponent's turn if he has cards in the grave for Scrapgorger to exile.

Im starting to get convinced to put freestrider lookout in any green based control decks. I think thats the missing piece that im looking for - a body that can attack or block while producing a lot of value through lands in early stages of the game.

Lookout is great card overall - if you can trigger it 1-2 times before it dies, value is huge (especially with all lands that use extra mana so well). Reach also helps, as seen in the video :) It's a solid card, wouldn't be surprised if we see it more in the future standard

I'm not sure if they are strong enough to compete against other aggro decks, red is generally ultra-dominating standard right now. Might try, but not sure if there's any strong version of it atm

I get asked about it from time to time - I generally needs to just buy enough packs on day 1 for having full set (or at least all cards for decks I want to showcase). So yeah, currently I just can't do any other way, before starting the channel I just grinded games a lot for my collection (and played for years)
