The northeast does not typically put macaroni in our chili. At least not in NH. I always heard that was a Midwest thing... And, we use beans, typically kidney beans. Personally I use black beans.

When I was little, my Aunt made Chili with a can or two of Pork and Beans. Then I had Chili with chili beans and kidney beans. I never looked back. Although, I do think about doing that just for the memories. Haven't done it yet though.

I use v-8 juice in my chili in mine. I eat leftover over Spaghetti or put macaroni in it.

Refried beans would act as a thickener, instead of using masa to thicken. 2 teaspoons of chili powder?? hmmmm a pinch of red pepper flakes? hmmmm where's the garlic? and onion? oh, where's the cornbread?? Now, if you just happen to have leftover chili, the next day or two, we might add a pasta (mac or spaghetti) to it to make another meal variety and call it chili mac. :P
